- ratherbeinvegas, on 10/22/2007, -1/+66Who would have thought that a fake news anchor would be the best news anchor.
- inactive, on 10/21/2007, -15/+72Jon Stewart > Stephen Colbert
- aspec, on 10/19/2007, -0/+47Probably not. He took a job for better pay, but the fact is, the show is successful because of Jon Stewart, not in spite of.
- quaxon, on 10/20/2007, -8/+55Craig Kilborne must be kicking himself in the ass so hard by now
- theberlindoctor, on 10/20/2007, -0/+29Political satire is a powerfully important part of the media's civic responsibility to the people. Stewart/Colbert is some of the best since Mark Twain, IMHO.
- blackbeardtron, on 10/20/2007, -0/+26Please tell me that all the clips of Steven vs Stephen will be on that website.
- Kinkistyle, on 10/20/2007, -0/+21It takes a great amount of intelligence to be as stupid as Colbert appears to be.
- DavidYeah, on 10/19/2007, -1/+21I don't get the whole "Stewart v. Colbert" rubbish. They're both excellent comedians and news providers, why can't we just leave it at that?
- billmania, on 10/20/2007, -5/+24This sucks. Now he can't run for Pres. in '08.
- NJPENSO, on 10/20/2007, -1/+17John Stewart is the man.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. - mitchlourens, on 10/19/2007, -2/+12i completely agree with you on that one...Jon's comedy seems a lot more 'intelligent' and not as stupid as stephens. That said, Stephen is also flippin' funny at times!
- hokie47, on 10/22/2007, -1/+11I know this dumb girl who said that she likes Stephen Colbert better than Jon Stewart because he more conservative. After I stopped laughing I told her that it is all an act.
- betterth, on 10/19/2007, -0/+8Very true, Colbert is an incredibly intelligent man. He spoke at the high school next to mine (Lassiter HS in Marietta, GA) a few years back and his speech was just incredible.
- inactive, on 10/20/2007, -1/+9comedy that is funny because it's true.
- nukethewhales, on 10/19/2007, -0/+6David Letterman's contract also ends in 2010.
Hmm... - mediaspree, on 10/19/2007, -0/+6The best time was the run-up to the '04 elections. In-decision 04. So much comedy gold.
- blackbeardtron, on 10/19/2007, -0/+5What's the weather like up your own ass?
- jfreiert, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4true... although i think Comedy Central gives him the freedom to make it successful. If he signed with a big network like Kilborne did.... might end up being watered down...
- fantasticFlan, on 10/19/2007, -1/+5No, he's assigning the value of Stephen Colbert to Jon Stewart.
- brufleth, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4Jon also works on Stephen's show and I would expect the content flows both ways.
- freewheeling, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4John Stewart is the most impressive news anchor on television. And he isn't even a real 'news anchor'. What is that saying about the state of American journalism?
- PrettyBoyFloyd, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4If Viacom were going to archive The Daily Show, why not archive ALL of the Daily Show (i.e., the Craig Kilborne seasons, which kicked off the thing in the first place)? Yeah, the show didn't really take off until Stewart replaced Kilborne, but those of us who watched the original incarnation still thought it was clever, snide and very, very funny even then. They had some great writers in that era who have gone on to other, greater projects, just as the later writing crew did.
- swhite76, on 10/20/2007, -1/+4And I remember thinking the show was going to jump the shark when Stewart came on board. D'oh!
- Derrekito, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Tread carefully, someone here just may attempt to rip your heart out from comparing stewart and colbert to mark twain. I have to admit they are more entertaining.
- theberlindoctor, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Note the "since" .. I'm simply stating that there has been quite the lack of popular satirists (at least that come to my mind) since Twain.
- fasda, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4you mean John Stewart == Stephen Colbert
- Fire4Effect, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3Good to to hear. Only show on T.V. that brings some semblance of sanity to the seeminly insane world of politics.
- xister, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3You just made me vomit in my own mouth!
- Chirp08, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2fake "news anchor", not to be confused with "fake news" anchor. Its sad when the only place you can get real news is on a comedy channel.
- jlawson1, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4Colbert-Putin '08 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Psalms, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Definitely, it flows both ways. I watch both of them, really, Jon when I feel pseudo-intellectual, and Colbert when I just want to laugh at the fact that I was once a Bush supporter. It hurts to laugh at myself... *Cue Wristcutting*
- unknownsoldierX, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2"Clustef*ck to the White House" has a nicer ring to it.
- op12, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2You're welcome.

- fantasticFlan, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Part of that is backwards.
- hyzdufan, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Missing my favorite one about Bradford, PA and slickie the oil drop mascot.
- CrackaPleeze, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Articles like this are why I have the Digg RSS in my Firefox dropdown bar.
- blackjack75, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Which brings the question: who the hell is Craig Kilborne ? (ok, by deduction I can get it for sure).
- thebillgonadz, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Have you read "America: The Book"? Also awesome.
- KidTechno, on 10/20/2007, -3/+4Jon Stewart = Stephen Colbert
- cthellis, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Why would he bother, when he has so many people willing to do it for him? ;-)
- 3eeedeee, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1yeah, totally agree. i don't really miss kilborne's schtick, but the show did feature some extremely funny segments starring the likes of Steven Colbert, Mo Rocca, Beth Littleford (whatever happened to her? she was amazing), Brian Unger, and Tom Shillue. also i think Steve Carell came in toward the end of the kilborne version. were great too. those comedic geniuses made the show worth watching in those early years.
- jizzlies, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1Great news!
- MoosaofND, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1I liked Colbert's work better when he was on the Daily Show. He was an awesome field reporter, and did a lot of things he can't pull off now that he is so strongly bound to the confines of the character he plays on the Report.
- Libberkey, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Okay. You watch the camerman; I'll watch Jon. (Are you aware than Jon changed his last name in order not to be confused with a famous photographer?)
- thebillgonadz, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Oui

OOOUUUUUUUUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!! - firstpost, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Seeing as Bush can (presumably) be president, Jon Stewart can probably do both at a time,
while flying a plane,
hanging on its left wing,
(insert list of things Jon Stewart could do) -
