Johnny Depp to possibly take on the role of Pee-Wee Herman

dailystab.com — Paul Reubens, who played Pee-Wee in TV shows and films until 1990, has completed two scripts he hopes to bring to the big screen in 2009. He is in talks with Johnny Depp about taking on the part instead of playing it himself.

      I can see it going numerous ways. Depp was great as Jack Sparrow, matter of fact I've really yet ot see him in a truly disappointing performance.

It is actually kind of a shame that most people don't know the other things besides Pee Wee Herman that Reubens has done, like "Blow" (along side Depp) and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (the movie)

If Paul Reuben had passed away the public would understand the switch, but not as long as PR is alive. I think the public will go see this movie, if Johnny Depp makes it, but it will be out of curiosity, but I don't feel the public will think about or accept anyone, but Paul Reuben as Pee Wee Herman.

On the other hand, though, if he just absolutely had to be played by anyone but Reubens, Johnny Depp is the only person I can think of who would even have a chance at pulling it off.

    Of course, I think it goes without saying, that whatever happens, Tim Burton better damn well be on board or they just shouldn't even try.

    Maybe he'll throw a goth/emo spin on it and snap the annoying goth and emo kids back to reality about how lame their 'style' is.
