- alapoet, on 01/02/2009, -17/+577I hope I'm exhibiting enough restraint to be tasteful when I say that what makes this even more tragic is that Travolta refused to seek conventional treatment for his son, preferring Scientology's mumbo jumbo over real medicine.

Well there's your problem - MrBabyMan, on 01/02/2009, -120/+434My sympathies go out to Mr. Travolta and his family.
- darkstorm777, on 01/02/2009, -34/+291No father should have to live longer than his son. Religious differences aside (as they always should be) my condolences go to the mother, and the father.
- DeathJux, on 01/03/2009, -14/+215Scientology kills.
- deema1, on 01/02/2009, -7/+198Okay. You don't think something is strange about this? The story says that Jett was seen going into the bathroom sometime YESTERDAY and that he was discovered at 10 am TODAY. The guy who discovered him is the CARETAKER. How in the hell could the poor kid not be discovered for at least 10+ hours? What was the caretaker doing to let this slip by? The whole thing is bizarre. Hopefully the autopsy will provide some answers.
TMZ identifies the caretaker as the man who was photographed kissing John Travolta on the lips a couple years ago on the stairs leading up to his airplane, so he should have known that Jett had a medical condition that required attention and supervision.
"UPDATE 5:15 PM ET -- Police just released more details. According to a report, Jett was last seen going into the bathroom at their private suite at the Old Bahama Bay Resort sometime yesterday. The body was discovered by the caretaker, Jeff Michael Kathrein (pictured bottom right with Travolta in 2006), at 10:00 AM today. The report says Jett suffered from seizures." - dickeywayne, on 01/03/2009, -15/+202Nicholas Cage killed Travolta's son, and then stole Travolta's face, too.
I saw a documentary about it a few years ago. - deema1, on 01/02/2009, -77/+261I thought OT8's had the power to heal with the power of their minds?
I guess John Travolta and Kelly Preston were too busy being celebrities to cure their own son with their mind powers. That's the only explanation I can possibly think of. - Frankyfan3, on 01/02/2009, -11/+171hmmm....
http://digg.com/celebrity/John_Travolta_refuses_to ...
I wonder if these are connected... in which case, I hope he gets the same legal treatment any Christian Scientist or some other non-medicine using religious sect would receive for denying physician recommended medical care for their children.
But I hope they're not... I hope that it's just one of those things that happens and nobody could have prevented it... because if they could have prevented it with the proper medication, then I pity the Travolta's and the guilt they will have to endure. Xenu bless them. - twiztidsinz, on 01/03/2009, -20/+171He's with Xenu now.
- badwithcomputer, on 01/02/2009, -35/+178condolences to the travolta family. i know digg has a strong anti-scientology bias, and an impressive talent for snarky quips, but i hope people can show some restraint in these comments. anytime a parent has to bury their child it's a sad day.
- lopla, on 01/03/2009, -31/+1581. do not give condolences to his parents
2. his parents should be arrested for criminal negligence and murder
3. the kid was sick and untreated due to the will of the COS
4. had he been medicated for his seizures he would not have had one, hit his head and died
5. the Travolta's now have blood on their hands but fame will see them through unscathed - maddvibe, on 01/02/2009, -28/+152It's always very sad when someone dies so young.
- wrathofg0d, on 01/03/2009, -8/+131Obviously wasn't getting enough vitamins.
(before I get buried, scientology espouses the use of vitamins in lieu of actual medication for treatment of medical conditions...specifically seizures in this case.) - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -64/+185Im sure Xenu wanted this to happen.
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -25/+139Unless their son died of something that could have been prevented. Hoping and praying does not a cure create.
- georgemason01, on 01/02/2009, -11/+114Don't know why you're getting buried. You accurately described every Scientologist's view of disease and sickness. Hopefully the police are aware of this and thoroughly investigate.
- sockpuppets, on 01/03/2009, -9/+101I noticed other problems as well:
http://i43.tinypic.com/16izcx3.jpg - inactive, on 01/03/2009, -17/+106MrBabyMan, I am very happy to see you are actually concerned with what you post. I think all our sympathies go out to the Travolta family, and it's very sad to hear of the death of someone so young.
I still hate you though, MrBabyMan. - deema1, on 01/02/2009, -6/+90Why seek answers when you already possess answers?
I feel bad for Jett because this might have been avoided if he was given the proper treatment. I really do have sympathy for the Travolta family, as I can't fathom how painful it would be to lose a child. However I think they put their son at risk by swearing off all outside help. - KlogereEndGrim, on 01/03/2009, -25/+105We do not yet know what the cause of the death was, but fact is that he seemingly denied his beloved son the care he rightfully should have had in the name of a crazy science fiction cult.

- lulzitsadigg, on 01/02/2009, -20/+98May Xenu bless his soul
- llamagod, on 01/03/2009, -3/+78A comment from the article:
"5. How horrible. Jet skis are SO unsafe. My husband and I wrecked on one and I've had chest pain ever since. It was incredibly terrifying. Thoughts are with his family."
I think she read Kawasaki Syndrome and thought he had a jet ski accident... - nedzeve, on 01/03/2009, -6/+77It's too bad it has to be the son of a hollywood celebrity for anyone to care.
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -4/+69I noticed a disturbing anomaly:
http://i41.tinypic.com/riexxc.jpg - chrissku, on 01/02/2009, -36/+97What a terrible tragedy. My regards to the family.
- sockpuppets, on 01/03/2009, -7/+68I'd have seizures if I saw my dad kissing a guy like that too.
- ObeseSnake, on 01/02/2009, -8/+67WWXD
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 01/03/2009, -7/+55Well, Tom Cruise can just use his powers to create a new reality in which Jett is still alive.
- krahzee, on 01/03/2009, -3/+47To clear up a few thing:
Being Autistic and suffering from seizures are not related. I have a brother with Autism and know many others with it who have never had any sort of seizure in their life.
Travolta has always maintained that his son was not Autistic, but instead suffered from Kawasaki disease that caused, among other things, seizures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_disease
That having been said, I have no clue if he was properly treated or not. Scientologists have issues with psychotherapy and drugs that effect the brain, but are fairly tame in regards to traditional medicine that deals with physical issues. - Ramenhood, on 01/03/2009, -8/+52If his son had any chance at all of surviving if it weren't for John Travolta's cult teachings and practices, then ***** John Travolta and his wife.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 01/03/2009, -5/+48No, ***** people who brainwash others into believing they have mystic powers and thus have no need to get their children the appropriate medical treatment resulting in death. Also, ***** you for defending them.
- yocouchdigga, on 01/03/2009, -11/+54See the first Related by Keyword story... put that together with the fact that his son wasn't discovered for 10+ hours, there's something very strange about that to me. It's extremely tragic but I can't help but feel something's amiss here.
On a sidenote, ***** scientology and all the psycho-babble-***** that goes along with it. - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -6/+45Oh I'm sure he'll be back, he's still got 499,984 years left on his contract with Scientology.
- repruhsent, on 01/03/2009, -4/+41This won't be a popular post but it's true. It sucks losing a kid, but I don't have any sympathy for the parents - it's likely that they're partially to blame as it is, and given that I'm sure Travolta is insane from his years inside Co$, I think it's safe to say he's too ***** insane at this point to understand the gravity of losing a son anyway.
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -15/+49He doesn't give a ***** at all. He's just trying to make people forget about all the ***** he gets away with on the site.
Down with the BabyMan! - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -9/+43Yup, happens quite often, ohh about once a month in America? Kids get sick, simple blood transfusion is all that is needed to save the life, but the parents are against it due to their religion, so the kid dies, or at the very worst, painfully suffers over a long period, then dies.
DMZ seems to be a pretty dumb site to get details on this. There appears to be two different reasons for the death. One was, fell down, hit his head in the bathtub, the other was a seizure brought on from something called Kawasaki Disease, which appears to be controllable.
http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/heart/kawasak ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_disease - AnonBuffalo, on 01/03/2009, -8/+41Maybe if Scientologists treated mental conditions this could have been averted.
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -6/+39Better than Scientology.
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -4/+36I like Tool.
- nedzeve, on 01/03/2009, -8/+38For anyone who wants to play along with me, for every insincere, cliched, false sentiment of sympathy you read in this thread, do a shot.
I'll see you in the hospital tomorrow. - Murdats, on 01/03/2009, -1/+31I hate the phrase live every day as if it was your last, if you really did that, you would have all your affairs in order, you would spend extravagantly and you would do things without worrying about the consequences.
but you don't because you expect to wake up tomorrow and face those consequences. - reparsed, on 01/03/2009, -2/+32I can not imagine any sane person that has done any research into that cult not having a strong anti-Scientology bias.
- metapop, on 01/03/2009, -5/+34seizures/swallowing your tongue/feeling the mighty eternal wrath of Xenu is.

- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -9/+37OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! They're posting here now.
- sockpuppets, on 01/03/2009, -6/+33Too soon?
- Disgod, on 01/03/2009, -1/+27It is truely sad when the parents personal ideology causes harm to their children. This type story always reminds me of that old quote, "the sins of the father will fall upon his children."
And I'm not singling out scientology either. The anti-vaccination morons, the Christians who refuse medicine, and every other group who denies treatment to their children based on ideology. They are all equally worthy of extreme contempt. -
