- kemitix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11On the page (top-right) there is a link to help Joe out financially. It's the Kill Kuato fund. Joe has been putting a brave face on his situation and is very self-effacing normally. Help him out. It won't mean much to you, but it would mean the world to him.
Good Luck Joe. - jackmangan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You deserve every bit of this love and support, Joe Murphy (aka Mason Rocket, aka Letch Carson, aka Joe Mercury).
We're all here, we're all behind you, man. - danakin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Joe's cool, but I'd really rather donate money to a personal friend with cancer.
- Robinh66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Kill Kuato!
- BobReturns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Joe, we've never met but you've given me hours of informative and engaging listening, you're one of a fairly small number of people who I have great respect for. Keep fighting.
- tasarith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Joe, I just wanted to show my support. If anyone can beat this thing I know you can do it. Your work with the Farpoint Media crew had brought endless hours of laugh out loud entertainment to my life. I wish you the best of luck.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I donated by accessing the page via http://www.duggmirror.com
- RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I have known more people that survived cancer then were beaten by it. Stay strong Joe. Positive thoughts sent your way.
- popred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3hang in there joe,we all love you man...
- cyberscape2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Who cares, man?
- cyberscape2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I will light you both on fire.
- kbachelder, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Joe's one of the good guys...send all your positive thoughts his way!
- OutlawDJ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Joe,
You have no clue just how many of us out here are pulling for ya dude! Stay shiny man, you WILL get thru this!
Death to Kuato!
Brad - milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6who's joe murphy?
- Archergal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm someone who'll probably never meet Joe, but the enjoyment I've gotten from the podcasts he participates in have made him important in my life. He is one of the good guys, and we're thinking good thoughts for him.
- nsharp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"They took a sizeable chunk out for for further study"
See, now this is why I'm afraid of Doctors - steelshadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn, that really sucks. I've never met Joe but have enjoyed listening to the podcasts he is part of. All I can say is I wish him the best and hope they can still beat this thing!
p.s. I had to use the duggmirror to read the article. For the past 24 hours michaelandevo.com has been unavailable to me. Don't know if it's stupid Verizon ISP or what... - vfrgurrl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Love Your Show, Joe. You are in my thoughts, every day.
- moflytier, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I have never met Joe and only know him through the podcast that he is involved in but I consider him to be a friend. As many have said, he is one of the good guys and we are all pulling for him. Keep a good attitude, Joe and don't let this "thing" get to your head. You have a whole lot of people out there praying for you. Be Strong.
- OdinEye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Well, he's someone that several people posting here have apparently heard of. Apparently you should wake the ***** up and spend less time masturbating to your pr0n collection.
- shm0edawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3As a sidebar, he has my first and last name and it freaked me out when I caught the headline on digg.
Keep fighting the good fight. My thoughts and prayers go out to ya. - lacronicus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3that you dont care about another human life is, simply put, pathetic. I do not know this man, and I've never heard one of his podcasts, yet what was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this? not "I hope he dies." quite the opposite in fact. There is very little I would like to happen less than see a man, who obviously has helped many people, die of cancer.
- OdinEye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4These are really two or three separate issues. Your digg, and mine, don't really do anything for anyone. There's really no drawback to digging this story to make people aware of it.
There's the matter of offering help to this one man, who will need it to support him while he struggles with this illness. He's likely not going to be able to work much from this point forward, and will probably exhaust the bulk of his insurance offerings, etc. He's going to be relying on the kindness of friends and others to get by. Making a difference to the comfort of one person in his time of need - even (or especially) if he is likely to pass on - is an honorable thing.
What you suggest is a different thing. I don't think that it's unreasonable for people to donate money towards research. However, the overwhelming majority of Americans can likely afford to do both. Your suggestion here is that we should ignore this man in favor of providing money to research, as if the two are mutually exclusive. They are not. - cfrazier, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Whats with all of the positive thoughts? Many on here have knocked faith in God down many times yet are now talking about positive thoughts. What scientific evidence is there for the effect of other people's positive thoughts? As for me, I am a Christian and believe that Jesus is all powerful, more than man and science. When things are out of man's control I can look to Him for comfort, because He is in control. It must be really lonely to have convinced yourself that God does not exist and then be in a situation like this with nothing to put your hope in.
As for me, I am praying for Joe to the One how can still do something about it! - billyvnilly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3why are you looking to be flamed? If you would like a reason, well then. If Joe happens to read this digg, then he will see all of these people he doesn't know supporting him. There is scientific proof that one's own positive thoughts improve healing. Joe's positive interpretation of our positive thoughts is a good thing.
- VFRick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Good luck Joe. Our thoughts are with you.
- geistbear, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Joe rocks!
- poplopez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1God Bless Joe!
- ayledi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm a huge Slice and Wing-it fan.....and always been a big Mason Rocket fan. I hung out with Joe at the Serenity/Buffy show in Tucson. Very cool cat. My thoughts are truly with him. ***** Kuato...be strong Joe.
- nihcolasland, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I hope everything will be ok with Joe, In the mean time read about online casino news at http://www.onlinecasinoarchives.com
- xizax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Never give up, push as har as you can everyday, and fight until the last moment. This is the only way to beat cancer, remember to spend all the quality time with your love ones
- gmeador, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0UPDATE:
Joe Murphy is in hospice care and has days to live. A memorial fund is being established:
http://joemurphymemorialfund.org/ - Oxygen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Very True.
- shortarabguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Please believe me when I tell you that I'm not a jackass, nor am I inhuman... I've just never heard of the guy, so hearing that he's gotten cancer is like hearing that another random stranger got cancer.
No, wait... that's exactly what this is. Another random stranger got cancer... Hmm - nsharp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Joe, May The Digg Be with You
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2No, it's more like: I don't know him, so why should I give a *****?
I never said that I hope he'd die. His life just isn't in my list of concerns. I've (and many others) probably have bigger fish to fry. - OutlawDJ, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Real nice jackass. The guy has a bigger heart than you ever will. And by the way ***** he doesn't run a "***** web 2.0 podcast" he is a part of a pretty well known podcast NETWORK. Had you bothered to actually READ the article you might have seen that.
- RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Wasn't there an article here about some tumor-shrinking compound that works by reactivating mitochondria?
- Jadinlee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Please don't turn this into an infomercial. This is a really great guy going through a very difficult experience. I'm sure you're post was well intentioned but its the intentions of the companies that promote psuedo-cures that are the problem.
- forgiste, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I remember something about that. it causes apoptosis, but only works for certain types of cancer. Cannabis has been shown to do this too.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Cancer isn't capitalized unless you're referring to the astrological sign (or it's at the beginning of a sentence).
Your sentence reads like he's struggling with his horoscope. - MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Likewise. Thread burried as lame.
- Glurch2891, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I'm a listener of at least one Far point media pod-cast, in for a nickel in for a dime.
Never give up, Never give up!! - billyvnilly, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I don't see my digg should be used to help one person, use his story to ask people to donate to organizations, or charity. Just from the brief glimpse i read in some of the entries: leiomyosarcoma which as metastasized to multiple organs and is not resectable. His would be highgrade, "In cases in which the grade of the tumor was documented, the median survival for patients with high-grade tumors was 25 months in one study, whereas the median survival for patients with low-grade tumors was approximately 98 months (Evans HL, 1985)." Unless he responds to chemo, i wouldn't think radiation is a good choice for mets, his prognosis is poor at best. please consider donating to national charities, such as http://www.nlmsf.org/ (national leiomyosarcoma foundation).
- TheYellowMole, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0He went under the knife! Oh no, let's hope Dr. Stiles can save him!
- lacronicus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1in soviet russia HE blends YOU
- nmrk, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Digg: someone you never heard of is dying.
- headlice, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3if you are desperate to try anything and are out of options, try vitamin B17. Most doctors say its crazy, but there are some who believe cancer just may be a vitamin deficiency (I am on the fence on this).
Vitamin B17 is found most abundantly in apricot seeds. It is also found in apple seeds, although not as concentrated.
Not sure how many to eat a day, its all over the web on recommended doses.
Try it out if you feel up to it..... - steelshadow, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0I wanted to read this but:
"Firefox can't find the server at www.michaelandevo.com"
"IE: The page cannot be displayed" - hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I'm slightly autistic and this "thoughts sent your way" stuff seems like an even worse delusion to have than that God one a lot of people seem so upset about. I'm all for having goodwill towards other people, but that's just magical thinking.
Also, where's some links for those of us that have no clue what Farpoint Media is. A poster father down says "pretty well known podcast NETWORK", but podcasting itself is a pretty new concept, much less a "podcast network". It seems to me that he's projecting his own thoughts onto the world, another delusion that appears to be commonly practiced among non-autistics. -
