The answer is simply that humans enjoy feeling genuinely superior to other humans. The people in the audience are simply patting themselves on the back saying: "I don't suck that bad". He's been hosting a trailer trash stage fight show for nearly two decades, and in the seventies he was actually mayor of Cincinnati, which is just something I don't think anyone would really expect.

I am not sure when it happened but the show just got out of control. The guest where all fake. They where scripted to do certain things. You can barely understand what they are saying with all the bleeping of swear words.
