- firewall1, on 07/02/2009, -0/+39At one time in the late 80s, early 90s and right after he bought the Beatles' songs, he was set to become the first billionaire entertainer. Too bad he could blow through $100k+ per day on his shopping sprees.
Here comes jo jackson looking for his piece of Michael. Damn scub bag.
Anyone see that street interview with BET I think, that he had a few days ago? He talked about his son for about 10 seconds, then went on to promote his 'Blu-ray company' for quite a while. - wolfing, on 07/02/2009, -2/+33"Highlighting his shaky financial health, the singer known for his lavish shopping sprees had just $668,215 in cash"
Sheesh, poor soul, only $668K in cash, how can anybody have a decent living with that? - nik707, on 07/02/2009, -1/+28Those 2.5 million song downloads last week will help that figure a bit.
- BlackOculus, on 07/02/2009, -1/+20He could have bought 236,000,000 jr. bacon cheese burgers.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -3/+20Jackson was "too big to fail".... until he dropped dead....
- usefuljenkins, on 07/02/2009, -1/+16With a worth of 235 million, having only having less than a third of a percent liquid is kind of outrageous. Also, cash probably includes bank accounts.
- forcedfx, on 07/02/2009, -0/+14Yeah, but if you're dead who gives a *****.
- darthvalium, on 07/02/2009, -0/+14not very much though. by far the most of that money will go to sony&co
- AtomicTheory, on 07/02/2009, -3/+16Mmmmm, there's nothing I enjoy more than chowing down on some "love", but my face smells of "love" for a day or two after.
- Satualanus69, on 07/02/2009, -0/+11Your forgetting Al Sharpton's Con artist ass too hes also cashing in as well..............what peice of ***** only showing his face during tragedy.
- RevLoki, on 07/02/2009, -4/+14Who cares? Billy Mays is dead!
- Bloodwine, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10It's time to watch the Jackson family piss all over his corpse and dismantle all his assets ... that is, what is left over after the creditors get their pounds of flesh.
- arbysrocks, on 07/02/2009, -0/+9wow, so he only had 235 million net worth left from everything? People were saying he could easily be a billionaire at one point. Way to spend almost everything you have there jacko.
- LordVance, on 07/02/2009, -0/+7I don't know. I'd really like to have things like that taken care of before I pass to make the whole experience easier on my family and close friends. When your father goes, the last thing you want to worry about is which of his assets you have to auction off to be able to pay his massive debts.
I mean, I realize that it's still nice to get a massive inheritance no matter how you slice it - but if it can be avoided, it should be. - KSUdesigner, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6That debt still has to be paid back. It will be taken out of his assets.
- Charlotte_Web, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6There's also the concert tour rehersal video that they just shot, which is being rushed to market. I assume that Jackson's estate owns that.
- UselessTrivia, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6He was acquitted of it twice by a jury of his peers.
There was quite a lot of evidence, particularly the first time around, that the kid was coached by the parents and lawyers to lie.
I'm not saying I'm 100% convinced he never touched a kid, but it really seems like a guy who mentally reverts to the state of a 10 year old (per the court psychologist's diagnosis) is not going to be a molester. When 10 year olds play together they do a lot of ***** that would seem creepy and wierd if a grownup was doing it.
I am willing to be disproved, but based on what I've seen I was just never that convinced he really did those things. - borez, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6I could do with some love chowing myself.
- thinkb4utype, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6I want to go just like Michael, owing hundreds of millions of dollars that I won't have to pay back.
- adventureindia, on 07/02/2009, -4/+10A star like Jackson really deserve that. His fan's have downloaded more then 2 million songs in just one week which chows the love for Michale Jackson.
- Nohpex, on 07/02/2009, -1/+6That's it? I was expecting it to be a bit higher than that.
- KSUdesigner, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5He had a will, it was just made public yesterday.
http://www.aolcdn.com/tmz_documents/0701_mj_will_w ... - blue98camaro, on 07/02/2009, -1/+6You only live once.. Why not spend the money you work hard for?
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5To be fair he is dead now so in hindsight he did the right thing by blowing as much cash as he could whilst he was alive.
- blue98camaro, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Sounds like he didnt do any of that.
- orlyfactor, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Sounds like Bear Stearns.
- howea, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4or die trying to pay back the money you owe
- methdwman3, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5I don't think there's enough money in the world to appease those money grabbers.
- Avaseal, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3He was never father of the year to begin with. His kids were only singing, dancing dollar signs to him. Why would it be any different now?
- Plopfish, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Cash is not the only liquid asset. Stocks, bonds, etc. are also highly liquid. Why have so much cash at hand if not needed? Have it work for you.
- duewydo, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3That is what I thought, but then I saw that was the case in 2007 and then it got me thinking, after this economic down turn I wonder how he was fairing...
- UselessTrivia, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2I don't know what his digital royalty rights were like, but he was making record-breaking cuts on physical album sales, and those have been flying off shelves faster than they can be replaces, so he's making a killing this week, no pun intended. I read somewhere that he makes somewhere in the vicinity of 2-3 dollars per album sold.
I imagine that in death he'll probably sell another couple million albums in the next few months.
It won't make him a post-mortem billionaire or anything, but it might help his estate pay off his debt. - Trick07, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2I guess Henry Vaccaro will not have to worry about any debt not being paid off... he was one of the few that were screwed over by the Jackson family to actually strike back and hurt the Jackson's financially.
Look, Michael Jackson was a great performer. There is no arguing that. But the fact remains Micheal led at the very least a very questionable lifestyle and his family rode on his coattails and ripped off anyone they could under the Jackson name.
That said, I don't want to see MJ dead and I sympathize with his fans who will miss him... but the vultures that are circling MJ right will be interesting to watch.
A little bit about Vaccaro's dealing with the Jackson's...
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/06/michael_j ... - borez, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Not as Invincible as he first thought eh.
- Charlotte_Web, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2He was a tremendous entertainer who totally failed at keeping his career and his personal life separate.
- RaulMuadDib, on 07/02/2009, -1/+3He did die
- warsongs7, on 07/02/2009, -1/+3Who is this Michale you speak of?
- dinglebutt, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Free access to his own theme park and to one of the greatest arcade game collections in the world not good enough?
- forcedfx, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Sad but true.
- removesstains, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1I was sick of hearing about Iran last week and no i'm sick of hearing about the King of Pop. However i feel this new news trend will be a lot longer.
- retral, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1This comment is so awesome I could put a blogspot link in it and I'd still get +diggs
- darthvalium, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1would be nice for his kids if they can profit from that.
- graemee, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Too bad, most of his song catalogs were mortgaged off to pay for the high life he lived. Didn't Sony get a big chunk of the Beatles one.
- pgouy, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1That could have kept him alive!
- Neoanarchist, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Lawlz. Hope she was a vegetarian
