You should have been frightened enough not to ***** DUI you self-centered whore. - cassholio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+173Scissor Me Timbers!
- davesbrain, on 10/12/2007, -2/+127Why do prisoners have My Space sites?

I wonder if people will actually believe that these digitally delivered "Threats" are genuine. - pbuschma, on 10/12/2007, -11/+108I don't understand why people think it almost acceptable to get raped in prison. It's a common joke and if you read between the lines it seems to me that many almost wish it on the evil doers - but it is serious. 2/100 Americans get jailed and many experience rape - some catch HIV and somehow this is all OK? Think about the justice system and who it jails and what for and then think hard if you couldn't have been at one point or another guilty of a jail-able offense. Ever drive drunk? Ever stole anything? Ever done any drugs? Ever been in a fight? Ever been in a protest? Ever speed over 100mph? and the catch all could you ever have be wrongly convicted?
Its no laughing matter, I think prison or jail is serious and I would imagine its not fun. The least that should be guaranteed is the safety of the inmates who are doing their time. - fober, on 10/12/2007, -4/+79In order to class up the place.
- actionscripted, on 10/12/2007, -8/+71I hope they are.
- GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+60Oh the forced prison lesbian sex video sales numbers are already fluttering through my mind ...
- CaptShmo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+59bet she comes out of prison and hits every talk show on the mid-day circuit about it, and then goes on some crusade to change horrible prison conditions
- Adwt0125, on 10/12/2007, -3/+57So we can expect a Prison Paris sex tape soon?
- Newlow, on 10/12/2007, -6/+56That's hot!
- drinkGreen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41@dracostimpy
probably the other way around - rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Paris still thinks that this is some elaborate Punk'd episode.
"Where is he? Where is Ashton Kutcher?" - PiMPSP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37lol see myspace is full of nothing but child predators and convicts
- reeder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38Wow, looks like her publicist was hired back to make fake death threats. ***** ridiculous, she will do anything to avoid any responsibility in her life. Imagine what you could do with her means! You could get 3 Ph.d's, develop your own research center, donate millions to worthy causes, anything.
I think that's why the people hate the extremely rich, they have no class and want to isolate themselves from reality, instead of making the world a better place. - datalife, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38Wait inmates have a myspace??
- benijuana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37She should do what Ed Norton did in 25th Hour, have someone beat the living ***** out of her the day before she goes to jail so that she's too ugly to be raped. To be honest though, Spike Lee never let us see if it worked, but he was pretty ***** up after that scene
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32Chances are she'll be on a crusade to increase the size of her bank account through a "tell all" book.
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30Wow she is getting way to much attention for this... just lock her up, who cares.
- jessdub99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26I won't be fully satisfied until I see pictures of her ass behind bars.

He didn't pull them out of his ass.
there are currently 6.7 Million in prison, on parole or probation.
So in fact the number is around 1 in every 32 or 3.1% of the entire population.
many for victimless crimes such as drug possession . - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22This is such a ***** stunt by her PR reps to keep her out of jail. LA County Inmates do NOT have access to the Internet. She as every celebrity is designated as a K-10 and placed into protective custody. She would have her own cell and with her money she could easily get almost anything she wants- including cigarettes (about $20.00 per ciggy!).
The reason they have to protect her is if anything happens to her while in jail- that good old Hilton money could mount a hell of a lawsuit and literally bankrupt the LA County Jail and put quite a strain on the LA County Sherrif's finances.
Nothing would happen to her! However we would get a break from having to watch that no-talent whore if even for 45 days! - rwallen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20To give the child molesters something to do.
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17If they are genuine, then the inmates are idiots. There is no faster way to get her transferred to a different prison than if she can demonstrate that there are people there who are threatening her.
- renegadeafk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19A night in prison
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Don't drop the soap!!!
...Wait, how would that work? - bIuebonics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14behind or through? ;P
- dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Paris does Prison?

so I was about right.. 2m/300m are in federal custody right now; and depending on your skin color it seems chances are quite high to go to jail in ones lifetime .. which makes this even scarier. 28.5% all all blacks ... wow wow wow.
as to the offenses you mention, you may be right that many may not cause you to go to jail; but depending on the jurisdiction and how good your defense is, I am certain we could find you cases where people have gone to jail for each one of those.
This all evades the point I was trying to make. It doesn't matter if it happens more or less often (seems more often than you think 25,000 times a year - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison_rape). It matters that it happens at all ... and my point was that it matters that people like you marginalise the issue or think its OK categorically.
here is an account of someone who this happened to: http://www.spr.org/en/NPREC/chancemartin.asp
i think you owe me an apology buddy! - eleventybillion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Let's throw Nicole Ritchie in there with her and call it 'The Prison Life'. They can clean up fecal matter from the walls, do the other inmates' laundry, and even milk a real life bull dyke. Yeehaw.
- strangewill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@coffeedemon:
Wait wait wait.... she can WRITE?!?! Holy *****! - strangewill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@catalysis:
The idea is that people are outraged that OTHERS think that rich and famous should be above the law, I am one of them. Just because you're on the cover of some magazine I don't give a ***** about, doesn't mean you're special when it comes from breaking laws.
She should go to prison, any other human would. DUI is a serious offense, something that you CHOOSE to do. You should pay the consequences. - popothebright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7She'll end up in luxury prison and she already knows it. This is all just more of the Paris hype machine at work.
- starf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That would actually be something useful. The prison conditions really do need to be reformed.
This is Paris Hilton we're talking about.
She'll just talk about how awful it was for someone so pretty to be in jail. - Gerz1219, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9No, that was all a dream sequence. He served his time, and was most likely ass-raped three weeks later when his scars healed.
- Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6She is only going away for 45 days, what the hell is she worried about. I know lots of people that went away for alot longer than that.
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i don't care who it is, rape isn't funny.
- laskuh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5make sure she doesnt get out of doing her time with that stupid petition!
http://digg.com/celebrity/Sign_the_petition_to_SEND_Paris_to_jail - Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15@geoffg,
I bet you were one of those douche bags that wrote to her on her MySpace telling her that she is better than being treated like a normal human being and because she has money she should be above the law. Hope you DIAF, dick. - themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If someone submits a crappy "Free Paris Hilton Petition" with 1000 or so signatures it's a good thing we're ready to counter it with a petition to keep her in jail that has more than 43,000 signatures.

I'm emotionally invested in anyone that DUIs... Just think about that for a second before you criticize... - envex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6http://duggmirror.com
enjoi. - dreicher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4From the DOJ site (2001 numbers, sorry that's the latest they had)
- At yearend 2001, over 5.6 million U.S. adults had ever served time in State or Federal prison
- If incarceration rates remain unchanged, 6.6% of U.S. residents born in 2001 will go to prison at some time during their lifetime.
- U.S. residents ages 35 to 39 in 2001 were more likely to have gone to prison (3.8%) than any other age group, up from 2.3% in 1991.
