- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+141sorry for comment abuse, but these are all promotional pictures and most photographers lack skill so they have to use Photoshop, make-up doesn't do that much to a face.
- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -23/+156Halle Berry FTW
- mayhemt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+104Title should read 'Celebrities without their make-up & editor's Photoshop'
- Kerr, on 10/12/2007, -10/+103Halley Berry needs no makeup she looks good without it.
- UglieJosh, on 10/12/2007, -14/+55Julia looked ok without too.
- AriaStar, on 10/12/2007, -8/+45DID YOU ALL MISS THE POINT?! Well, the ones who pointed out that the images are obviously airbrushed....
The images we think of with celebrities is that they are flawless. So women strive for a level or perfectionism that they see in print and on TV and in movies that isn't even real to begin with. The beauty is all an illusion brought on by what is essentially face paint. Anyone can look good with the right products and enough airbrushing.
In reality, even the most beautiful star is still a human with ugly days. The beauty we see in these people is usually thanks to make-up and airbrushing. Without it, they are nothing special.
I'm glad to be able to say that even I look better than these people when I'm not wearing make-up. And I'm someone with low self-esteem, yet can say that. - ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Right... and possibly the fact that many of the pictures have years of age in between them? Alicia Silverstone's pro shot was taken around Clueless when she was in her early 20s. The supermarket tabloid shot was probably taken within the last few years.
Just in case you haven't seen the evolution of a model:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=pcFlxSlOKNI - AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30Britney Spears is clearly wearing eyeliner in the "no makeup" shot and so is Alicia Silverstone. These are not "no makeup" shots they are just candid pics when they aren't wearing their gallons of promotional makeup.
- quacker912, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28Pamela Anderson looks like she's 60 without make up.
- kettlechips, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30Halle Berry looks better in the candid photo
- qbix, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26I don't know... Penelope Cruz doesn't look all that bad without makeup. Just my opinion though.
- Reap, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Isn't it terrible we live in a world where people have to moan and bitch about race all the time, even in something like a post about physical beauty?
- rhinez0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20I'll never understand why we care so much about people who don't matter.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Big ***** deal. The blogger picked the worst papparrazzi photos for the "comparison" photos. The accurate headline should be "We picked the ugliest possible photos of celebrities to compare against their promo photos."
If I could bury this twice, it would be as Inaccurate AND lame. Sensationalism in any kind of media sucks. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Good god, screw make up, get those girls Photoshop CS 2!
- earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17if only girls could put on some photoshop in the morning
- BlackSheepx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I would bury as inaccurate, but it's still fun to look at :]
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16As humorous (and scary) as these pictures are, I can't help but feel bad when I realize these pics exist because some people make a living of following these celebs around, taking pictures of their every moment, in this case some of the most unflattering moments too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Ummm... who cares?
- opiniastrous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14There's some massive age differences between shot of the shots (e.g. Pam), and I think some of them just look that way because of the particular face they were pulling when the shutters closed (e.g. I don't think Alicia would look so bad if it wasn't for that look).
Also, is the Renee Zelwegger w/ makeup even her? - wafflez, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18my dick sure doesn't =D
- d0odx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Looks to me like natural vs photoshopped rather than without and with make up.
- Shakaz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12FTW=For The Win
- Scynet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Makes me wonder why they need real models in the first place. Just create a virtual superbabe and use her instead. Ö_ö
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12OH MY GAWD THEY LOOK LIKE HUMANS WITHOUT MAKE-UP WHAT WILL WE DO!!
- RetardoCrisp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9You realize that people will photoshop celebs to look horrible just as much as they make em look pristine, right? It's sensationalism and it sells regardless of the good or bad. People out there love to hear the dirt on celebs, it sells. Those pics are photoshopped
- pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7she looks kinda like Vigo from Ghostbusters II
- JaybeasCorpus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Give me a break...while I know that none of these celebrities look as good as their photoshopped, well-lit, perfect makeup pictures, I also know they look better than the "normal" pictures on the left. All of the left side pictures are very poor pictures - they're not well lit, they're grainy, and probably of a much lower resolution. Also, most of the left pictures look like they were just poorly timed shots - we all look like ugly-assed idiots if the shutter clicks at the wrong time. Someone just scoured the various celebrity sites to find the worst pictures of each celebrity they could find.
Now, with all of that in mind, Halle Berry still wins. - dani8559, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's nice to know that Mandy Moore, however, is always beautiful. Even working hard in the studio:
http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e242/nova7girl/?action=view¤t=myspace1.jpg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Without makeup, Lisa Kudrow looks like an skinny, woman Henry Kissinger.
- KutterMax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Halle Berry looks amazing with or without makeup. She is a "natural" beauty. Props to her.
- Thumbz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Am I the only one that finds make up unattractive? It makes women look fake, and like all they care about is what others think. Then again, that is, usually, the case.
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The frist time I saw my wife with make up was our wedding day. She looks much better with out it. And no I'm not making this crap up.
- giloron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I thought you were talking about the picture of the little dog on the green ball until I realized I had to sign in to flicker or yahoo to see it.
- mikeschultz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Even more current and from an even more credible source (kidding)...
http://www.tmz.com/2007/01/21/yikes-no-makeup/ - legalcondom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That was the subject of a movie, I believe it was called Simone... or at least the "superbabe" was.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Because the majority of people don't care if it's a dupe.
That, or they don't like people complaining about dupes.
Or they don't like him. - Uberdork, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Halle Berry looks OK. Not any of them are what they appear, however:
http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/archives/000903.html - SyDIGG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I would still hit all of them.
- Tallon29, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5kenz0r:
There is a Technology section on Digg. This is in the Entertainment section. If you don't like reading Entertainment related news (or even news relating to the subsection "Celebrity"), you can simply choose not to display it in your Profile. - marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8NEWSFLASH: People get old.
- JrGhoull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4lol all this proves is that they're human, and that there is ALOT of work put into the photos in various magaines.
- leftfoot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5God damn, Renée looks rough.
- Sil369, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If that aired nationally as a commerical (has it?), wow, the impact it would have ....
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Jessica Alba without make up is just fine.
- browwiw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4All of them are still prettier than any knuckle dragging wench in my hometown: Armpit, Kentucky.
And all of you geeks would still be intimidated to approach them even without the make-up. - EliasAlucard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'd still do her though.
- targetX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Does that really mean anything? I mean.. what wouldn't the average Digg user hit...
- stuma9000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ngmcs8203's link above says it all.
I think it's a sign of an out-of-touch society where women feel they have to wear so much make-up and men encourage them to do so. When healthy the human body is beautiful as it is. This fetish for such a synthetic look creates all kinds of subtle psychological problems in the minds of young people over time. I happen to think that in may of these cases the un-made-up photos actually showed beautiful real people that I am more attracted to than synthetic exaggerations of beauty that the 'glamour' shots suggest. - pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8they're missing the best one:
