- MrFisty, on 09/22/2008, -4/+61The only thing that annoys me more than Kidman's wooden acting is slideshows.

- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -0/+38I think I see an overpaid website designer over at Forbes.
***** slideshow articles. - Arkanoid22, on 09/22/2008, -2/+36To me, Nicolas Cage is just one of those actors who is always at the mercy of scriptwriters. He can take a good script and run with it, but he can't turn water into wine like some actors (Edward Norton comes to mind for his performances with subpar-at-best scripts like 25th Hour or Red Dragon).
- Tyrghast, on 09/22/2008, -7/+33I love Cate Blanchett. Everyone else on that list can go to hell.
- wrathbone, on 09/22/2008, -0/+22From wiki:
"It grossed US$347,325,802 at the world-wide box-office, becoming the 11th top grossing film of 2001 worldwide, and the highest-grossing martial-arts film of all time."
His movies make money, that's why he's not on the list. - lordtyros, on 09/22/2008, -0/+17***** you. Rush Hour 1 and 2 were excellent.
- Soniti, on 09/22/2008, -1/+18I seriously hate that layout- I feel like I have to speed read to keep it from changing mid-paragraph...
- martynda, on 09/22/2008, -6/+23Just 10? How about all of them...
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -0/+16Will Ferrel should be higher. He only plays one character and gets millions each time he does it.
- GoingPostal, on 09/22/2008, -1/+17Does Forbes have a list of which companies have the Top Ten Overpaid CEOs? I can start one. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Bear Stearns, AIG, Merrill Lynch, ect...
- scoottie, on 09/22/2008, -8/+2395% of Hollywood stars are overpaid
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -1/+17you sir, are a brave man.
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -1/+16when is 4 to 1 a bad investment? not fully sure why they are considered over priced?
- Flummoxer, on 09/22/2008, -3/+17mugupo need to learns subject verb agreements.
- twertyto, on 09/22/2008, -0/+14They should have Julia Roberts and Jodie Foster on that list. They make nothing but garbage recently but get paid huge amounts to be in a film.
- megaton, on 09/22/2008, -1/+14This was on the front page 2 weeks ago.

- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -1/+13it's in order based on the dollar paid/dollar made. the pretty pictures come with writing next to them... ;)
- latrosicarius, on 09/22/2008, -1/+12What is you talking about?! Nicolas Cage are awesome
- hokie47, on 09/22/2008, -1/+12Someone needs to create a script that takes all the slides and puts them on one page.
- notoneofus, on 09/22/2008, -0/+11And how much of those box office numbers are those respective actors directly responsible for? Most of it. If it made no difference, studios would cast entirely unknowns in every role.
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -0/+11I think that's just residual pay from being so awesome in The Fifth Element.
- bhowell, on 09/22/2008, -1/+11I guess you missed Michael Phelps on SNL.
- RealmDown, on 09/22/2008, -0/+10*whoosh*
- RealmDown, on 09/22/2008, -0/+10Now that's irony.
- wrathbone, on 09/22/2008, -1/+10You have no idea what you're talking about.
- blackinthmiddle, on 09/22/2008, -1/+10Well, it's hard to say. One argument says that if money is being made, then it's just a matter of distribution of wealth. If a movie comes out and makes $300 million, who are you to say that the main star shouldn't get $20 million? If it doesn't go to them, the studio or some other entity will get the money.
Then there's another argument that says that the price of movies is too high and should go down. Then the whole, "Well money is being made" argument wouldn't be as strong.
It's actually pretty hard to define "overpaid". Is job importance a requirement? Difficulty of said job? How much money is being generated by you doing your job? I can easily take your statement and say 95% of lawyers are overpaid. And why should plastic surgeons become millionaires to do things like stick plastic bags in women's chests?
The bottom line is that the market, for the most part sets your worth. To say "95% of Hollywood stars are overpaid" begs the question: Why are people going to watch them? Apparently the millions they generate says otherwise. - elarson, on 09/22/2008, -0/+925th Hour was well-written.
- JosefK88, on 09/22/2008, -0/+9Cate Blanchett may be considered overpaid based on her box office draw but she is arguably the most underrated actress in film today.
- Soniti, on 09/22/2008, -1/+9I should not have to stop a website from interrupting my attempts to read their articles.
I say attempts because it switches so fast sometimes that you can't even read the damn thing. - thaglove10, on 09/22/2008, -0/+8Jim Carrey and Cate Blanchett are good actors, they just cost a lot to sign.
The other ones, you're right, I'm fine with it if they don't act again. Except maybe Nicolas Cage when he's doing something cool like Lord of War and not something stupid like The Weather Man or whatever his new movie is. - inactive, on 09/22/2008, -2/+10Tom Cruise is a scientologist. Your argument is invalid.
- BBrains, on 09/22/2008, -1/+9I disagree. Cameron Diaz is a very talented whore.
- RealmDown, on 09/22/2008, -0/+7We're all behind you, dude. And not to make you mad or anything, but earlier, they were talkin' about your mother too.....
( Oh, and DIGG ? The force is NOT strong with me. So far, it has taken over 300 clicks on "save reply" and it STILL hasn't posted.) - j3ff86, on 09/22/2008, -0/+7Galadriel from Lord of the Rings
- larsoncc, on 09/22/2008, -0/+7Here's a good follow up question - for every dollar the average American is paid, how much money do they generate for their companies? Admittedly, it's an apples to beggin strips comparison, but an interesting one - I've never really looked at the value / worth of a person's presence in such a fashion.
What would be the formula? GDP / # Workers / Avg Annual Salary? - Sakumi, on 09/22/2008, -2/+9Well to be honest if any of those people were never casted for a role again I would.. be very happy ;)
Tom Cruise should never act again after he did so well in Tropic Thunder. - Jimmerz, on 09/22/2008, -1/+8They fail to mention Jennifer Garner was in Juno which, regardless of what you thought of the movie, made a metric *****-ton of money for not much investment.
- enantiodromia, on 09/22/2008, -1/+7i wish i could just smell drew barrymore for a few minutes
- TheBlackOasis, on 09/22/2008, -2/+8and it was funny.
- Barbarino, on 09/22/2008, -1/+7Wasn't this just on here?
- kurtwinter, on 09/22/2008, -1/+7That's 4 to 1 TOTAL revenue vs. pay. If my firm made just 4x my pay, the rent, utilities, other salaries, supplies and expenses would never get paid.
- blackinthmiddle, on 09/22/2008, -0/+5Well, that's just a reflection on movie goers then, isn't it? The best singers I've ever heard don't make nearly the amount of money that someone like Britney Spears or Beyonce make. The reality is, how many tickets are being sold because of an actor will trump anything. Look at guys like Will Smith. Almost every movie he's in (except for Bagger Vance) generates top dollar. I wouldn't consider him to be a great actor. He has a lot of charisma, so I'm not taking that away from him. However, an actor like Denzel Washington to me is one of the best and his movies don't make the kind of money Will Smith's do.
So the question is, what kind of talent do moviegoers care for? Real acting or other qualities that have nothing to do with acting? - Scrappy1850, on 09/22/2008, -0/+5leaving las vegas, raising arizona
