- temporaryescape, on 07/19/2008, -6/+60How do you get into the mindset of evil?
"I think we all have it in us, you know." - Heath Ledger - danmat06, on 07/19/2008, -5/+46You can kind of grasp his gentle nature from this interview, he's so calm and respectful of all the other cast and of Nolan.
Hollywood needs more actors like him, rather than arrogant types, people who put their all into a role and into becoming a character, especially when dealing with subject material as precious to fans as the batman franchise.
It's such a shame that he passed away so early, and it's also a shame that the film has had a shadow cast over it by his death (i had heard that certain scenes were expected to be pulled due to his death, i don't know if they were or not). But bravo for his performance, a class act 'til the tragic end. - Carbonlord, on 07/19/2008, -9/+43Great Article, Such a shame his flame was extinguished so early!

- crowbar77, on 07/20/2008, -1/+23umm if you actually read the article you would have seen he was being sarcastic.
"MTV: What do you think of another actor, Heath Ledger, playing the Joker in next summer's "The Dark Knight"?
Nicholson: Let me be the way I'm not in interviews. I'm furious. I'm furious. [He laughs.] They never asked me about a sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me. " - jexton, on 07/20/2008, -2/+24overuse of Joker quotes.
- helooksmortal, on 07/20/2008, -6/+27R.I.P. Heath Ledger
- myherozero, on 07/20/2008, -6/+26Went to see The Dark Knight yesterday, and I really wondered if Heath's performance would live up to the hype. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it exceeded it. I had to remind myself several times that it was actually him. He completely became The Joker. He definitely deserves all of the kudos and I'm really hoping for an Oscar nod.
- rukeypoo, on 07/19/2008, -4/+24I love the respect he showed everyone involved. Very refreshing and classy.
- sovietninja, on 07/20/2008, -0/+17Why so serious?
- MechanicalZack, on 07/20/2008, -0/+16I personally don't think his death overshadowed the movie... Well, at least not once you are in the theater. I completely forgot there was a Heath Ledger in that twisted character.
- gregMF, on 07/20/2008, -2/+17It's all part of the plan
- psion01, on 07/20/2008, -1/+16Let me guess: your girlfriend dumped ya? Your dad beat the ***** out of ya? Your finger poked through the toilet paper while you were wiping? You're just having a crappy day and you thought you'd just prove how bad it is by calling out the Digg Bury Brigade to rain all over your pimply ass?
Well, it isn't going down that way, bub. Come here and let me give you a hug. - Browzer, on 07/20/2008, -0/+14"Watch me make this pencil disappear!"
He was fantastic, and seeing this movie on IMAX tonight was definitely one of the best movie experiences of my life. Ledger steals the show, easily outshining Batman himself. - rosekevin, on 07/20/2008, -1/+14He made my pencil disappear.
- Jesse, on 07/20/2008, -0/+13Gary Oldman is a ***** actor? Well, you're definitely in the minority on that one.
- ElectricRebel, on 07/20/2008, -3/+15Joker did it for the lulz.
- Dundasbro, on 07/20/2008, -0/+9And that is the beauty and mark of a true artist and highly talented actor.
"To reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim." - Oscar Wilde - hannahkail, on 07/19/2008, -17/+26Reading this made me even more upset at how Nicholson has reacted to Ledger getting the role. He obviously had a lot of respect for him and his portrayal of the Joker.
- Dundasbro, on 07/20/2008, -0/+9Let's put a smile on that face!

- hagfish70, on 07/20/2008, -0/+8I just want my phone call.
- ChristmasApe74, on 07/20/2008, -0/+8Wait, did you just call Gary Oldman a ***** actor? Obviously you haven't seen anything he's been in.
- SigmaDraconis, on 07/20/2008, -1/+9Why So Angry?
- Sroek, on 07/20/2008, -1/+9What an imbecile you are.

- GoneFishing, on 07/20/2008, -1/+8Do you want to see a magic trick?
- notoneofus, on 07/20/2008, -0/+7Uh, if you're talking about Gary Oldman you must be ***** kidding, right?
- IAmSam14, on 07/20/2008, -2/+9I'm not sure if this is a troll or if you've been living in a cave for the past few months.
- wizzroom, on 07/20/2008, -1/+7why do you hate yourself so much?
- Futurejunior, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6Perhaps the he is a cave troll?
- Regbooker, on 07/20/2008, -7/+13"I don’t know. (laughs) I really don’t know what to say, I feel like I’ll be assassinated if I tell you something wrong…"
Made me remember a famous quote:
"Make it look like an accident"
I know, feel free to digg me down . - GregIsLegend, on 07/20/2008, -0/+5He was just kidding!
Read the article next time! - mlagana, on 07/20/2008, -0/+5yeah, sometimes though he really didn't show that respect.. in alot of australian interviews actually!
i remember him getting interviewed by some mole on channel ten about some movie, and he was eating a mandarin during the interview and just didn't seem like he wanted to be there.
but that's what i loved about him! he had a good general distaste for pop.culture, especially australias b-grade celebrity magazines and entertainment shows. - andersonwill, on 07/20/2008, -1/+6(laughs)
- Tyrghast, on 07/20/2008, -2/+7Death does more for some people's status than anything they did in life, often times bringing in unmerited popularity. Case in point: Jesus.
EDIT: You can add Kurt Cobain as an example as well, he wasn't considered awesome until he died. It's sad but so very true. - murty, on 07/20/2008, -6/+10He definately was one of the better actors around imo. I will certainly miss him and its sad to see one of his last performances. But he did do a fantastic job in the dark knight. RIP buddy.
- Dundasbro, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4Or maybe you can scoot the ***** over to the political section and stop being a douche over here, just an idea.
- RocksOFF, on 07/20/2008, -1/+5Yeah, weird that he got assassinated so soon after... such a shame.
- Falsey, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4"Have you run into Jack Nicholson since you go the part?
I wish. (laughs) I’ve never run into him but I’d like to. Not literally."
lol. I love the fact he had to just throw in "not literally". - DeathfireD, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4"So the concept is that Batman uses fear, and that Joker has no fear of Batman – it’s that kind of relationship?"
"Yeah. They can’t really live without each other. It’s that kind of relationship. You know? Like they have no real purpose in life without each other. So they don’t really want each other dead."
He admits that the next batman will be horrible since the Joker is now technically dead. :( - sovietninja, on 07/20/2008, -2/+5He had to die, for the Project.
- crowbar77, on 07/20/2008, -1/+4Your right, Huffington post has gone from 5 to 4 articles on the frontpage. They're the ones who deserve the sympathy, think of the lost revenue!
- rcran, on 07/20/2008, -2/+5If you don't remember, people were way into his performance of the Joker when he was alive. To the extent of multiple front pages of horrible leaked 'photos' of him on the set in makeup.
- hagfish70, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Ummm did you even see the movie? Although slightly similar due to the fact the were playing the same character, (duh) Ledger took the Joker to a new level. A completely off the wall bat ***** insane level. Nowhere near the character Nicholson portrayed.
