- Carbonlord, on 07/19/2008, -9/+43Great Article, Such a shame his flame was extinguished so early!
- Browzer, on 07/20/2008, -0/+14"Watch me make this pencil disappear!"
He was fantastic, and seeing this movie on IMAX tonight was definitely one of the best movie experiences of my life. Ledger steals the show, easily outshining Batman himself. - Trav3133, on 07/20/2008, -0/+24flame was extinguished? nice one elton.
- ronocdh, on 07/20/2008, -3/+4Dude, compliment Heath all you want, but that "article" was horribly written. Does Heath actually speak without punctuation? WTF?
- tech42er, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1"What the ***** are you talking about question mark Most people don't speak with punctuation period"

- temporaryescape, on 07/19/2008, -6/+60How do you get into the mindset of evil?
"I think we all have it in us, you know." - Heath Ledger - hannahkail, on 07/19/2008, -17/+26Reading this made me even more upset at how Nicholson has reacted to Ledger getting the role. He obviously had a lot of respect for him and his portrayal of the Joker.
- andersonwill, on 07/20/2008, -1/+9how did he react?
- crowbar77, on 07/20/2008, -1/+23umm if you actually read the article you would have seen he was being sarcastic.
"MTV: What do you think of another actor, Heath Ledger, playing the Joker in next summer's "The Dark Knight"?
Nicholson: Let me be the way I'm not in interviews. I'm furious. I'm furious. [He laughs.] They never asked me about a sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me. " - GregIsLegend, on 07/20/2008, -0/+5He was just kidding!
Read the article next time! - djm19, on 07/20/2008, -1/+0I'm sure Jack was perfectly find with Heath doing the role. Doesnt necessarily mean he thinks Heath is better (after all Jack has a reputation to look after ;) )

- mlagana, on 07/20/2008, -0/+5yeah, sometimes though he really didn't show that respect.. in alot of australian interviews actually!
i remember him getting interviewed by some mole on channel ten about some movie, and he was eating a mandarin during the interview and just didn't seem like he wanted to be there.
but that's what i loved about him! he had a good general distaste for pop.culture, especially australias b-grade celebrity magazines and entertainment shows. - Falsey, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4"Have you run into Jack Nicholson since you go the part?
I wish. (laughs) I’ve never run into him but I’d like to. Not literally."
lol. I love the fact he had to just throw in "not literally".
- mlagana, on 07/20/2008, -0/+5yeah, sometimes though he really didn't show that respect.. in alot of australian interviews actually!
- danmat06, on 07/19/2008, -5/+46You can kind of grasp his gentle nature from this interview, he's so calm and respectful of all the other cast and of Nolan.
Hollywood needs more actors like him, rather than arrogant types, people who put their all into a role and into becoming a character, especially when dealing with subject material as precious to fans as the batman franchise.
It's such a shame that he passed away so early, and it's also a shame that the film has had a shadow cast over it by his death (i had heard that certain scenes were expected to be pulled due to his death, i don't know if they were or not). But bravo for his performance, a class act 'til the tragic end.- MechanicalZack, on 07/20/2008, -0/+16I personally don't think his death overshadowed the movie... Well, at least not once you are in the theater. I completely forgot there was a Heath Ledger in that twisted character.
- Dundasbro, on 07/20/2008, -0/+9And that is the beauty and mark of a true artist and highly talented actor.

- BraveLilToasta, on 07/20/2008, -48/+1all that shows is that hes an arrogant prick. his movies arent gonna live on and if he is such a great actor then we shouldnt be able to draw any connection between him and the character he is (badly) portraying. - CaptainJapan, on 07/19/2008, -46/+10This interview is from 2007, lets get something more current. I thought Heath Ledger would be out promoting The Dark Knight by now, what is he too busy for it? *****.
- IAmSam14, on 07/20/2008, -2/+9I'm not sure if this is a troll or if you've been living in a cave for the past few months.
- Futurejunior, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6Perhaps the he is a cave troll?
- solesoul, on 07/20/2008, -13/+3I'm going to assume that was a joke, because if it was, it was damn funny and I'm digging you up.

- itkeepsuswarm, on 07/19/2008, -16/+10Someone needs to edit that interview. You don't write down every single word a person says for obvious reasons...
But anyway, it's immediately obvious why Heath Ledger's death was such a tragedy after reading what he has to say about his own work. The man was a genuine person and a true actor. RIP- andersonwill, on 07/20/2008, -1/+6(laughs)
- nishimori, on 07/20/2008, -10/+4That was horribly edited... Great interview but as it said in the beginning he just got off a plane after being up since 4am. It was hard to read really with all the "like's" and "you knows". Nothing against Ledger as everyone talks like that specially after lack of sleep but whoever edited that interview sucks ass.
- Regbooker, on 07/20/2008, -7/+13"I don’t know. (laughs) I really don’t know what to say, I feel like I’ll be assassinated if I tell you something wrong…"
Made me remember a famous quote:
"Make it look like an accident"
I know, feel free to digg me down .- sovietninja, on 07/20/2008, -2/+5He had to die, for the Project.
- DeathfireD, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4"So the concept is that Batman uses fear, and that Joker has no fear of Batman – it’s that kind of relationship?"
"Yeah. They can’t really live without each other. It’s that kind of relationship. You know? Like they have no real purpose in life without each other. So they don’t really want each other dead."
He admits that the next batman will be horrible since the Joker is now technically dead. :(
- murty, on 07/20/2008, -6/+10He definately was one of the better actors around imo. I will certainly miss him and its sad to see one of his last performances. But he did do a fantastic job in the dark knight. RIP buddy.
- Vesuvias, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0He's not your buddy, friend...
- helooksmortal, on 07/20/2008, -6/+27R.I.P. Heath Ledger
- Jenadae, on 07/20/2008, -30/+5I don't give a ***** about the hype that went into this movie, the only complaint i can make is how ***** an actor they casted for commissioner Gordon. Ledgers role carried the movie from decent to damn near epic and its not because hes dead, its because he did a phenomenal job.
- notoneofus, on 07/20/2008, -0/+7Uh, if you're talking about Gary Oldman you must be ***** kidding, right?
- Jesse, on 07/20/2008, -0/+13Gary Oldman is a ***** actor? Well, you're definitely in the minority on that one.
- ChristmasApe74, on 07/20/2008, -0/+8Wait, did you just call Gary Oldman a ***** actor? Obviously you haven't seen anything he's been in.
- NeoSporin, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Yea, and Christian Bales acting was just the top of the chain.....
- praisethelard, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3You're really calling Gary Oldman *****? Really?
- Jenadae, on 07/20/2008, -8/+1Yes i think Gary Oldman did a ***** job in his role QQ, did everyone watch the same last scene i did? Because it was almost horrible.
- BlueStarr, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Gary....bad? hahahaha
- JulianneFair, on 07/20/2008, -9/+4The Dark Night was an amazing movie and contained one of Heath's best performances. I wouldn't be surprised if he won Best Supporting Actor.
- ganymede2010, on 07/20/2008, -13/+4If Heath Ledger doesn't win the Oscar I'll be one pissed off *****! Great Film, just got back from seeing it:)

- wrathofg0d, on 07/20/2008, -5/+3shut up fag
- BraveLilToasta, on 07/20/2008, -7/+7Bravo, I second this. This stupid Ledger ***** is pushing real stories of the frontpage.
- Alcoholicas, on 07/20/2008, -3/+2Like what?
- crowbar77, on 07/20/2008, -1/+4Your right, Huffington post has gone from 5 to 4 articles on the frontpage. They're the ones who deserve the sympathy, think of the lost revenue!
- BraveLilToasta, on 07/20/2008, -3/+2like anything more interesting than another "RIP Heath Ledger" article, IE ***** ANYTHING
- Robthefrog, on 07/20/2008, -7/+3I agree. ***** him. He was a pill junky. Why are we obsessed with honoring people who commit borderline suicide? Just because he's a good actor doesn't mean that being a pill junky is acceptable. ***** him and ***** you.
- Tyrghast, on 07/20/2008, -3/+2Exactly, he was on top of the world, his career was doing great and TDK was a shoe-in for massive money and critical acclaim, but in the end he showed his true colors as a selfish junkie who took it too far. Worst of all he abandoned his daughter.
- ganymede2010, on 07/20/2008, -12/+3***** off and die and you worthless piece of rat bile!
- BraveLilToasta, on 07/20/2008, -24/+10ok seriously this heath ledger ***** has gone from being an understandable inconvenience, to unbelievably aggravating. OK he was one of the better actors but its been what 6 months now? everyday the front page of digg is clogged with people raving on about how heath ledger is the greatest thing to happen to the world since penicillin. on top of that about 90% of these stories are submitted by the same 2 or 3 people. get over this guy, he was a ***** actor. if your gonna idolize someone, how about idolizing someone that actually did something to benefit society and will actually be remembered in 30 years.
- freehunter, on 07/20/2008, -4/+4This is the first Ledger story I've seen on Digg since he died. Quit bitching.
- BraveLilToasta, on 07/20/2008, -3/+2well then you obviously havent been on digg since he died, theres at least on on there all day every day

- tymilu, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1Get over it. If you don't like it, don't read it. I don't like all the stories I run into on Digg, but I'm not going to denote my displeasure on every single comment thread.
- freehunter, on 07/20/2008, -4/+4This is the first Ledger story I've seen on Digg since he died. Quit bitching.
- superdigg, on 07/20/2008, -13/+2"I don’t know. (laughs) I really don’t know what to say, I feel like I’ll be assassinated if I tell you something wrong…"
... eerie.- RocksOFF, on 07/20/2008, -1/+5Yeah, weird that he got assassinated so soon after... such a shame.
- BraveLilToasta, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1how is that eerie at all?
- myherozero, on 07/20/2008, -6/+26Went to see The Dark Knight yesterday, and I really wondered if Heath's performance would live up to the hype. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it exceeded it. I had to remind myself several times that it was actually him. He completely became The Joker. He definitely deserves all of the kudos and I'm really hoping for an Oscar nod.
- rcran, on 07/20/2008, -12/+8First off, apparently Heath laughed a lot during that interview.
Second, who ever wrote down what he said must have been raised by wolves, if not completely illiterate. There are so many things that don't (aren't) make any sense in his replies, as well as the utter absence of periods.
But it's interesting to see his angle on the character. Too bad all we have is a half wit's dictation though ;-)- catkillcurious, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Yes, yes, the dictation is terrible, but I want to say the dictator was trying to capture Ledger's style of speech.
- IrvineKinneas50, on 07/20/2008, -16/+9Sigh. If Heath Ledger didn't die, would this be on the front page?
Why don't we show respect for him by *not* deifying him just because he died.- rcran, on 07/20/2008, -2/+5If you don't remember, people were way into his performance of the Joker when he was alive. To the extent of multiple front pages of horrible leaked 'photos' of him on the set in makeup.
- contradictator, on 07/20/2008, -2/+2I think this would still be on the front-page, because even if he was alive, people would still be showering him with praise over his role in Dark Knight.
It's tragic, but some people keep romanticizing his death. I like to think that, regardless of his role in this movie, he'd be greatly missed.
All the recognition and accolades he's earning right now are well-deserved, it was a remarkable performance in a fantastic movie, nothing can change that. - Tyrghast, on 07/20/2008, -2/+7Death does more for some people's status than anything they did in life, often times bringing in unmerited popularity. Case in point: Jesus.
EDIT: You can add Kurt Cobain as an example as well, he wasn't considered awesome until he died. It's sad but so very true.
- DarkReign16, on 07/20/2008, -7/+1I assume I am being dugg down because you aren't aware that my comment was in response to CaptainJapan's comment.
- Jeffrr, on 07/20/2008, -10/+2"I feel like I’ll be assassinated if I tell you something wrong…" - Heath Ledger
RIP - HiroOfShadows, on 07/20/2008, -8/+2I guess he told them something wrong
- UntoDarkness, on 07/20/2008, -5/+7Such a talented actor, sad he had to die at such a young age. I saw the Dark Knight yesterday, and Ledger had me convinced that he was truly none other than Joker. His immersion and insight into the character is amazing!
Sympathy or not, he deserves some acclaim for his role. - Deerhunter425, on 07/20/2008, -5/+1great interview....wish we still had him around. he was more than amazing as the joker. R.I.P. Heath

Yes folks, Heath Ledger is STILL dead and at this point has become yet another distraction to keep Americans from noticing their country going completely down the toilet.
If you want to know about Heath, hes still is very much "alive" on FOX, MSNBC, CNN, Hard Copy, Inside Addition,..etc.
Plenty of places to still love Heath, but keep that crap off of Digg, please!- BraveLilToasta, on 07/20/2008, -3/+4agreed

"Did you watch any of the Jack Nicholson stuff?
Oh yeah. (laughs) I mean, not after I got the role, but I’ve seen it many times before, I was a huge fan of it and you having seen Chris’s first film, I knew that there’s a big difference between a Chris Nolan film and a Tim Burton film and so therefore there was enough room for a fresh portrayal and so I’ve kind of steered away from what Jack did (laughs) hopefully. "
He mimicked Jack in almost every way.- hagfish70, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Ummm did you even see the movie? Although slightly similar due to the fact the were playing the same character, (duh) Ledger took the Joker to a new level. A completely off the wall bat ***** insane level. Nowhere near the character Nicholson portrayed.
- insomniac8400, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Barely, the base form Nicholson is there. And it was almost as if his dialog was ridiculously over practiced and rigid. When he gave his dialog it was almost as if he wasn't paying attention to anything else in the room. Definitely not oscar worthy. It just seems like everyone just wants to give him an award for dying.
- hagfish70, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Ummm did you even see the movie? Although slightly similar due to the fact the were playing the same character, (duh) Ledger took the Joker to a new level. A completely off the wall bat ***** insane level. Nowhere near the character Nicholson portrayed.

- Treoinmypocket, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1and since you made me think about it again - TERRYA64 - here is the actual "final word" report:
“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine,” the medical examiner’s spokeswoman, Ellen Borakove, said in a written statement.
“We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.”
The list of generic names refer to drugs more commonly known as the painkillers OxyContin and Vicodin, the anti-anxiety medications Valium and Xanax, and the sleeping pill, Restoril, while Unisom is an antihistamine commonly used as a sleeping aid. "
Now you can call it an accidental overdose all day long but that would just make you a fool. - terrya64, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Like I said "“We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.”
- Treoinmypocket, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1and just what exactly is accidental about abusing prescriptions?
- alaskanassassin, on 07/20/2008, -6/+0anyone dumb enough to OD on heroin is undeserving of admiration.
- terrya64, on 07/20/2008, -1/+2Went to see the movie Friday, I would give the movie an 8 out of 10, Heath Ledgers performance 11 out of 10.
- tecratour, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1Heath seemed to laugh a lot in the interview.

amazing actor, amazing performance, RIP. - nonsequitur668, on 07/20/2008, -4/+0I've tried to keep quiet, but I just can't hold it in any longer. I have to tell everyone that Heath Ledger exhibited signs of arrested development. Before I launch into my rant, permit me the prelude caveat that Heath was the type of person that turned up his nose at people like you and me. I guess that's because we haven't the faintest notion about the things that really matter such as why it would be good for him to manipulate everything and everybody.
Didn't Heath realize that I call this phenomenon "Heath-ism"? Let me give you a hint: Heath needed to stop living in denial. He needed to wake up and realize that it's not the bogeyman that our children need to worry about. It's Heath. Not only was Heath more unsympathetic and more uncongenial than any envisaged bogeyman or bugbear, but the irony was that Heath's most gruesome solutions were also his most two-faced. As the French say, "votre mère place des goupilles de bowling dans son vagin."
Heath's stratagems criticized other people's beliefs, fashion sense, and lifestyle. As an interesting experiment, we could have tried to point this out to him. (You might have wanted to don safety equipment first.) I think you'll find that Heath's morally questionable policies were in full flower and their poisonous petals of militarism were blooming all around us. Heath was a pretty good liar most of the time. However, he told so many lies, he was bound to trip himself up someday. Heath argued that genocide, slavery, racism, and the systematic oppression, degradation, and exploitation of most of the world's people are all completely justified. I wish I could suggest some incontrovertible chain of apodictic reasoning that would overcome this argument, but the best I can do is the following: I'm not writing this post for your entertainment. I'm not even writing it for your education. I'm writing it for our very survival. Now that this post has come to an end, I hope you walk away from it realizing that in the good old days, when courage, honor, devotion, duty, and loyalty meant something, it was comparatively easy to exert a positive influence on the type of world that people will live in a thousand years from now.- waterboy4453, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2What the ***** are you talking about?
- nishimori, on 07/20/2008, -2/+3Why the hell does everyone bury the comments about the interview being edited horribly??? Whoever is doing that must be illiterate themselves and don't realize in NO way are we talking ***** about Ledger, simply the retard editing the story
