- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -7/+395I like to watch 'Girls Gone Wild' backwards so it looks like the girls have learned their lesson.
- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -10/+213Somehow I don't have more sympathy for them then for the drunk guys in Borat. If you are an idiot, you drink and you make a fool out of yourself it's your own fault.
- shandyking, on 10/12/2007, -12/+209Drunk girls at spring break who lied about their age are just asking for trouble!
- Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -27/+204Regardless, this guy is a grade A *****.
- cshel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+117Wow. I'm sorry their appearance on GGW "damaged" their relationships with their families, but perhaps -- just perhaps -- they should have thought about that before they got trashed and flashed their jail bait ta-ta's for complete strangers (with CAMERAS).
- fascistpig, on 10/12/2007, -4/+105From the LA Times Magazine article:
"When I talk to Szyszka seven days later, she says she "didn't quite realize" she was being filmed. "But I didn't care because I was drunk and who cares?" Then she adds: "It didn't feel good to me at all, but I was totally faking it because I was on 'Girls Gone Wild.'"
Eventually, Szyszka says, Francis told the cameraman to leave and pushed her back on the bed, undid his jeans and climbed on top of her. "I told him it hurt, and he kept doing it. And I keep telling him it hurts. I said, 'No' twice in the beginning, and during I started saying, 'Oh, my god, it hurts.' I kept telling him it hurt, but he kept going, and he said he was sorry but kissed me so I wouldn't keep talking."
Afterward, she says, Francis cleaned them both off with a paper towel and told her to get dressed. Then, she says, he opened the door and told the cameraman to come back, saying, "She's not a virgin anymore."
Douchebag? How about rapist? - Whackly, on 10/12/2007, -20/+105You can digg down the dude who said the founder is a prick but he's right. Look into it. The guy is like the world's biggest douchebag. Digg me down. He still deserves a lot more than he got.
- Whackly, on 10/12/2007, -4/+58http://www.latimes.com/features/magazine/west/la-tm-gonewild32aug06,0,2664370.story read that and see if you still think the dude isn't the world's biggest douche
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/12/2007, -5/+52@sockpuppets
oh man, that is great. Now I'm going to start watching other things backwards... see what effect I get.
Oh wow... Nip/Tuck suddenly became a lot more violent. - HoosbinPharteen, on 10/12/2007, -55/+98The founder is a prick and it's a shame he only got a little community service which he'll probably never do.
- scallon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42@ramtech.
Because nothing quite says "burn" like being dissed by one of Paris HIlton's Ex's.... - t3hBuddha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40If the 1.6 was paid to the families of the girls, or the girls directly now that they are legally adults, then I think the focus of this story is a little off. Sure its wrong to film underage girls, very very wrong, horribly wrong, but how did they end up there? How was their delinquency worthy of 1.6 million dollars? Somehow I read that article with the feeling that 17 year old girls ought to be able to be a little more responsible. That 1.6 million should have come as a fine, not as punitive damages in payment to the girls.
- MSTK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34Exactly. They _agreed_ to go on the show. And if what the guy said was right (I'm not so sure about that), they wanted to go onto the show enough to lie about their ages.
If anything they should be mad at themselves. Not taking it out on someone just to make themselves feel better. - sniper6121, on 10/12/2007, -5/+36Remember the guy is a Dick. He got off easy with community service.
http://www.latimes.com/features/magazine/west/la-tm-gonewild32aug06,0,2664370.story - val8ntin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31I always pictured "Girls Gone Wild" to be a series about escaped female mental patients that live in the wild - hunting bears and stuff.
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -7/+34From the linked article: 'watching young women hurl themselves against his 6-foot-2-inch frame, declaring, "We want to go wild!"'
Sorry, don't really have much sympathy for the girls, if he's a douche then it's their fault for reinforcing his view of women - johnham, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28I don't care if this guy's a giant ***** *****, if the people he filmed LIED and signed releases, then why should he be culpable?
I'm not saying that the guy is innocent but basically he's paying 1.6 million dollars for being lied to. - anasazi, on 10/12/2007, -13/+38pics or it didn't happen
of the girls, that is - spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Oh come on, there's a big difference between pedophilia and filming some drunk chick who's months away from being 18 flash her *****
Sure, what he did was bad, but not /that/ bad - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Think about next time she tells you she's on the pill. It's the same thing. :)
- Jacob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24underage so do you really want the pics showing up on digg?
- chmod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Yea, the article referring to them as "victims" didn't sit well with me. They are victims that allowed themselves to get smashed, then showed the GGW crew their ***** knowing full well what was going to happen with the tapes. I'm sorry but if you cannot control yourself after a few drinks you either shouldn't be drinking, or you lose the right to whine about things that you did while drunk.
It's sickening how everyone in our society wants to label themselves a victim the moment they realize they did something stupid. - Konrad9, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23What the ***** do their parents think is going to happen when their kids who they send on trips to the Caribbean that cost $10,000 every time school is out for 3 days?
These snobby, slutty, dirtbag girls deserve nothing except a swift slap upside the head. - YawehsDead, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25I think that regardless of whether the girls "should have" flashed or not. We need to remember that not every corner has a guy that is going to plaster your image on a very successful movie.
- Shirk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17"Stupid Judge probably didn't even realize the mental torment these girls are now suffering."
Yeah, underage girls going to +21 clubs getting drunk illegally on a weekly basis get busted when they agreed to be filmed flashing their *****. Poor girls, now their family and friends know what they do every weekend... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22@ZenMojo:
So you're saying this dude isn't a predator? Puhleeease. The same laws would apply if I went to a bar, met a girl who was drinking, had sex with her, and then later I was charged with stachatory rape. In that case, I doubt I would get much leniency. Ultimately, it's my responsibility to ensure someone I think is 18 or older IS actually 18 or older. - OwenX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17We know hes a prick.. but thats a little too extreme.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21Community service? God that guy is such a prick (and that's not jealously talking.. he's just a real dick). I wish he had gotten some real jail time.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1518 is the average age of brain maturation? What planet are you living on? What evidence do you have of such a claim and further, what does the term "brain maturation" mean? The frontal lobe doesn't fully mature until the mid-20s. If you think lawmakers enact legislation based on 'fact' and science you are sorely mistaken.
Finally, if they are underage, as they were, it is illegal, that's pretty simple. For those above the age of legal consent, I feel no sorrow for them; you have no expectation of privacy in public. Your picture can be taken. Is it wrong to say, take a picture up a woman's skirt without her knowledge, of course. Is it wrong to take a picture of a woman who exposes her breasts for any reason (i.e., being drunk), I don't think so, control yourself; you are responsible for yourself. - r81984, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Child porn?
Two 17 year old girls who lied about their age and were drunk.
From what I understand you have to be 21 to drink, so the act of the drinking would make me assume they were 21.
Also they were on Spring Break, underage girls go there for one reason, to ***** around.
These girls deserve nothing and in fact they should be the ones punished for lying and committing fraud when they signed release papers.
Joe might be a *****, but there is no way anyone can say that he purposely made child porn or took advantage of anyone.
It would makes sense that he pay 1.6 million dollars to a child porn task force for his unintentional mistake, but in no way should those girls be rewarded for their crimes. - miles32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15After you've done it once aren't you considered a professional or is there a limit you have to exceed first?
- chmod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"Or should it be blamed on the party holders for letting them drink under 21?"
No God damn it! These girls were not 15. They were not 13. They were 17. Seventeen is old enough that they should either know some modesty or not bitch about the consequences. Blame the idiots that got drunk and flashed their ***** for a camera! - clickwir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Or should it be blamed on the party holders for letting them drink under 21?
Out of the country and different drinking laws? Well then it's different age of consent laws too. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Only in America. If it was you or me in his shoes, we'd be in JAIL. Famous people don't serve time. Snoop is proof. That much weed would put me away forever.
- AICWebmaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12So we as Americans don't ever have to be responsible for our behavior? If my 17 year old daughter had let some guy film her nude and then her excuse to me was she was drunk. I'd take her car, her phone and any freedoms she had until she was 18 and out of my house!
- karn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11@Whackly
Umm no...he sounds more like a sociopath to me - RansomDenton, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14I can and cannot believe this. Fake ID's look really good nowadays and anyone can be fooled. Plus isnt it legal for women to bear their breasts? If men can can't women? What of breast feeding? I smell BS here.
- ozziedog, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19Sounds like those girls made $400,000 a titty. Nice.
- masgrada, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Horribly wrong! But 5 months later makes all the difference in the world.
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The description of this story really made it sink in!
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10The description of this story really made it sink in!
Sorry, I just figured I might join in repeating things. not as much fun as I'd hoped - charlie55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9late teens is not "kiddie porn". these are all post adolescents, even the illegal ones. stop buying into this arbitrary number 18 as what defines adulthood.
- Aeiri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"because he's that rich"
So, if someone lies to a rich person, you should get a bunch of their money?
I'm showing up at Bill Gate's next press conference! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Wait, I thought a judge in Florida said there was no law against teenage girls being naked in public?
- Ramtech, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15yeah.. he is a dick.. i remember hearing something about Paris Hilton's ex-bf making fun of him a while back.. bastard deserved it...
- ardenr, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16@leobaby - mine stood up...
- heythisisgandhi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It refers to it as a fine multiple times. It appears that the fine was part of the punishment, so it would be paid to the state, not the victim.
- devo6273, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8well it's the same idea as a bar being held responsible if minors are drinking. We have ID's for a reason.
- Dylan16807, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Considering how arbitrary 18 years is, I don't care either if they are 18, 17, or frankly 16.
