Do you have any data for this? It's not even close to "Every", I'd guess maybe 2% at most (probably vastly lower). Last time I checked nobody is forcing anyone to watch "Will & Grace" or "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"
Having gay characters is very different from having "gay pushed on you". Gay people exist in real life so you shouldn't be surprised they exist in music, literature, film and television. I don't recall any lectures urging everyone to become gay from any of the gay characters I've seen. - QuantumBios, on 10/15/2007, -5/+105Sensors indicate that Tim Hardaway is a jackass.
- BowieX, on 10/12/2007, -21/+115"I simply believe that being gay is wrong. Males and females are made the way they are for a reason and to stray from that is wrong."
So infertile men and women should be, what, massacred? Does a couple who never has kids need to be marginalised by society? Should it be global law that all human beings MUST procreate, because they are given testes and ovaries?
Gay people have heterosexuality thrown in their faces and pushed by society their whole lives. They still turn out gay though. Why? Until we know the real reason, if I were you I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. You are dogging on God's own creations here. I think many gay people are beautiful human beings -- why don't you celebrate that, not moan and groan?
"What makes us human and better than the animals is our ability to resist our urges and live at a higher standard."
My straight parents always told me to set an example: so, why don't you deny your own bodily urges by going and having sex with someone of the same gender. That, as you said, should make you more human! If you enjoy that, maybe gay people will follow your lead? - DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -8/+101"Sorry I'll go with the guy who likes vagina on this one"

This kind of rhetoric is the biggest turn-off of religion for me. Religion is ridiculous in theory, but terrific in practice...but then you run into this kind of anti-(person) crap that just ends up spreading hate instead of the goodwill towards your fellow man stuff. If it weren't for the advocacy of oppression then I would be fine with religion being around.
Drop the antagonism. That goes for the atheists too.
And Getut's tone is scarier than Tim Hardaway's tone. Tim Hardaway at least sounds like he knows he's wrong and doesn't care. Getut's tone is saying that he/she believes it's justified. Way scarier. - Quetzalcoatlus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+75Hello, I'm George Takei.
Recently I've been troubled to hear comments made by former NBA all-star Tim Hardaway who said:
"I hate gay people. Let it be known. I don't like gay people. I'm homophobic."
As a gay man and a human being I was shocked and upset. But I want you to know Tim, on behalf of gay people everywhere, that despite your ugly words, we don't hate you.
As a matter of fact, we like you. We like you very much.
We particularly like your large, powerful legs.
(Pretends to rub Hardaway's crotch)
Your smooth, chocolaty head, glazed in man-sweat. I'll keep my eyes on you. And let it be known, one day, when you least expect it, I will have sex with you.
(Laughs maniacally)
I love sweaty basketball players! - ricosalomar, on 10/12/2007, -15/+73@getut
I used to be like you, but then the "gay movement" got to me, and convinced me that being gay was cool.
Since then, I've left my beautiful wife of ten years, and, though I don't like it, I only have sex with men now. Let me tell you, it hurts, but I know that I have to resist the urge to have heterosexual relations, because I'm better than an animal.
Thanks to the gentle, incessant prodding of the "gay movement", I have been able to join a group who doesn't want me to be someone who I'm not.
Oh, and I've started stealing, too!!
Thanks Gay Movement, you're swell!! - shartman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+51Set phasers on Stunning!

did you forget where you were? this is Digg! no one here is going to say:
"oh, his bigotry is religiously motivated.... i respect that and will not question it because it would be impolite to do so."
sorry, around here you're just a ***** - Bleek-II, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45It's true, George Takei is the damn man!
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -6/+46Members of a minority - especially a visual one - have no business being prejudiced. Hardaway has no concept of his people's strife or history. And during Black history month. What a grade A *****.
- captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -6/+44@getut
"the gay lifestyle is wrong. It is sin and there is no justification for it. It is my duty as a Christian to point that out."
Didn't Jesus say something along the lines of "Let he without sin cast the first stone"
If your going to say you live by the bible you can't just pick the parts you like. - walkingdogs, on 10/12/2007, -14/+50"I base my belief on my religion."
Thats what I hate. A 2000 year old religion based on stories and hearsay making itself the moral authority for the whole world. Something tells me that homosexuality was here way before jesus or moses or Mohammad or Zeus or Thor or Buddha or Vishnu or what ever deity you feel you have to listen to to tell you how to act or think. Whats wrong is needing to hold on to mythology to get by in your life. Who is gay has no bearing on anyones daily lives unless YOU let it. You can choose to believe it or not but you CANNOT choose to be straight or gay, plus why would you choose to be something that is so openly hated and persecuted. Whats wrong is the ignoramus religious zealots who practice a religion that has a core of forgiveness and understanding based on free will in a country based on the ultimate right to freedom trying to keep down a part of society just because they can't procreate. I also feel that any man who has a problem with homosexuality is NOT a real man because they obviously feel insecure enough with themselves that they will let something that they don't have an urge to explore affect their egos. What, do you think you may like it so therefore you want it eliminated so that there is no temptation for you? Thinking that homosexuality is unnatural and a choice is about as crazy as believing in a God and Heaven and Hell. - cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37I still don't understand why Hardaway let Takei touch him like that. He even placed his hand on his crotch, and he didn't seem to flinch. Looks fishy to me.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35I do not agree with your choice to be Christian. Don't get me wrong, a lot of my friends are Christian, but I am, in fact, anti-Christian.
You are a dumbass. Were you born Christian or did you decide to make sheepish choices on your own? - jebudas, on 10/12/2007, -15/+44@getut
The fact is, straight people dont get these urges that you are talking about. I dont have any urges to be with another man. If you have to fight off these urges then it means that you are gay, even if you dont do anything about them, because if you have the urge... you're gay. And that's the way God made some of us humans! Why question God's plan? - walkingdogs, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Know that people who promote the act of sodomy as being acceptable (so called "gay people") will NEVER be right - you cannot go against a fundamental law of the universe.
I think I missed that law in Physics class. Who wrote that one? Newton, Galileo, Einstein? Maybe it goes back to Socrates. I forget.
Damn you religious types are stupid. - Tristeus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Be wary of your affirmation even if you try to bring in a positive point. Every member of a minority group, even "visible" minority, have the same rights as everyone else, that includes the right to be bigoted, wrong or just a grade A *****. Furthermore, it is a risky business of comparing the the plight of different minorities. I think it is more positive to stop lumping people in groups and start to judge them individually. Hardaway is not "more" of an ***** because he is a black homophobic man. He is just a complete *****.
- walkingdogs, on 10/12/2007, -7/+35@ getut
NO your duty as a christian is to treat your neighbor as you want to be treated. It is "god's" duty to determine the type of life a person has lived and whether they are worthy of heaven.
Now, I in no way shape or form believe in any of this religious garbage but apparently you have learned nothing about your religion. Good thing there is no heaven or hell so I never have to cross paths with you. - mdavis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30George has come out of his shell ever since he started on the Howard Stern Show. He always makes me laugh on there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33"It is sad that our culture has come to the point where rationalizations are made to make something that is obviously so wrong into something that is accepted by the mainstream."
I wish I could wave a magic fairy wand and make so that you're actually talking about war and not a sexual orientation. Oh I'd make some heavy use of my magic fairy wand...yes indeed. - ricosalomar, on 10/12/2007, -8/+34"..but there's no reason to hate gay people."
Sure there is. Hardaway is a fag, and he's scared that being gay is wrong, because of some sort of bigotry that was drilled into his head when he was a young boy. He compensated by becoming a macho athlete.
Now he's filled with hate, because all those years ago, when he was a child, he wanted to dress up in his mom's clothes and play with dolls, but his repressed mind wouldn't allow it.
He spends his days in locker rooms, surrounded by naked men, and all he wants to do is to bend over so they can treat him like he deserves, but he's afraid.
One day, he may come out, like Ted Haggard tried to do, and like Jerry Falwell should do, etc.
There is only one kind of homophobe, a gay one. - RevoltPuppy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28What about Hardaway's comments could be construed as "relatively mature?"
- RatherDashing, on 10/12/2007, -7/+31He's great on Howard Stern.

- PixelMagic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Ha ha, that was hilarious.
- Nightfall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25I have a lot of respect for Takei. I have met him before as well and got a chance to have a 5 minute discussion with him in an airport. Very laid back and nice guy to boot.
Getut:
Your basis of "sin" is only good if everyone here follows your religion. Last I checked, not everyone here does. If it comforts you to call everyone a sinner, including yourself, then all power to you. I will concentrate on the positives and the fact that I don't need a higher power to dictate to me what is right and wrong and how to live my life. You don't need religion to be a good member of society and you certainly don't need to follow it to be "better" than someone else. - Aaronichi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Did he shudder every time he drove his purple Plymouth Prowler into a tunnel?

Yet animals do all the time. If anything can violate a "fundamental law" then it isn't a law at all. It's not even a theory. It's just bias.
If anything homosexuality in nature only confirms that it's natural. - insomuchas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Its funny. Ive been a Tim Hardaway fan for awhile, he used to be a great player and I met him before. I didnt know he was homophobic
he actually owned a purple plymouth prowler.
Anyhow its fine if he doesnt like penis, but there's no reason to hate gay people. - doctechnical, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22"Warp factor Mansweat, Captain."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Who the ***** is Tim Hardaway?
- LowRentDiggs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Saying you hate gay people is not altogether non-violent. Saying things like that entrenches peoples' hatred and, in some cases, encourages violence against people worthy of "hate".
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21I dugg you, tristeus, because you are correct. However, I was trying to make the same point albeit in a roundabout fashion. A member of a minority should know first hand how it feels to be lumped together, stereotyped, and hated for no rational reason.
- nutzngum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21getut:
Speaking as an openly gay man - and only for myself, I might add - I'd like to pose this thought to you:
Where did you come to the conclusion that it was your job to pass judgment on another human being for something that (I believe with all my heart and soul) is completely natural and not "learned behavior" as some would have us believe? Isn't that God's job?
If it really is a sin, and I'm inclined to believe it's NOT, I'll let God deal with me when the time comes; YOU can take your religious posturing and cram it where the sun doesn't shine. - weareglass, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25@getut
Our society does not in any way shape or form discourage urges. McDonald's. Massive godzillachinos from Starbucks. Chocolate. Our society attempts to tell us which urges are acceptable and which aren't. Stealing is pretty universally unacceptable. The urge to hug kitties is pretty universally accepted. Urges are part of every human being's day every day, and this does nothing to affect the reasons for homosexuality. - Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18"What makes us human and better than the animals is our ability to resist our urges and live at a higher standard."
No, what makes us different from the (other) animals is our ability to live our lives separate from biological imperatives. Going to the opera, sailing around the world single handed, being celibate - none of these are "natural" they are probably inimical to the business of raw sexual reproduction. Luckily we are human, we are more than a requirement to procreate. So what does it really matter if some of our fellow men and women are homosexual? It doesn't. It's the way they were made.
... People who have ginger hair, however... they're an abomination. - wpc105, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17@ajck123
Perhaps I missed the memo somewhere, but since when did being homosexual = pedophile? Those are two different things. - underthewether, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20oh my
- PaperMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25@getut - Blocked. Not for being ignorant (ignorance is all around us). Not for bastardizing religion and giving it a bad name (Religious Zealots are all around us). Not even for having the cojones to voice your decidedly unpopular opinion.
Then why you ask? Blocked for not knowing how to spell 'COJONES'. There is about as much logic and reasoning behind my decision as your entire argument.... - TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17How, exactly, is the creation of the universe "by chance" a mathematical impossibility? I don't understand how anyone can believe a man with a funny hat snapped his fingers and the world appeared is any more probable than it's alternatives. Religion isn't a realization, it's an organized system of disbelief in reality.
- PrimalVenom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18no, you're not listening.
why would someone choose, actively decide one day 'hey, you know what? i kinda like penis now'
a sane person doesn't weigh the pros and cons of being gay and come to the conclusion that being gay is worth all the ***** they have to deal with from intolerant ***** bigots.
you either are gay or you are not gay, the only decision there is to make is whether you can accept it about yourself or not. - FuzzyCat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16
Wait a second... George Takei is gay? - ...---..., on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Yeah George is great on Howard. They started out making fun of him and he rolled with it and gave it back in a great way and now he's one of the best guests on the show.
Way to go George!

Really, two options here: one - ask for someone to post a mirror (as was done above with YouTube) something that's a standard practice here on Digg or two - buy a private proxy that I'd use for this purpose and this purpose only for $10 a month.
Frankly, ***** you troll. -
