and *****. - vacax, on 06/23/2008, -39/+1979The most legendary stand-up comic of all time. The world truly has suffered a loss tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in opening a bottle of your finest alcoholic beverage (or whatever your vice may be) in honor of George.
- ohhoe, on 06/23/2008, -69/+1897Why couldn't someone like Carlos Mencia have died instead?
- Foot56, on 06/23/2008, -7/+1450"I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me - they're cramming for their final exam. " -George Carlin
- ashakeandfrys, on 06/23/2008, -27/+1130Sad..
- robotfuel, on 06/23/2008, -30/+1132Goddamnit.
- fin01, on 06/23/2008, -31/+967Why Russert and Carlin, and not O'Reilly and Mencia?
- mshaness, on 06/23/2008, -18/+904"Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money." -- George Carlin
- Cythro, on 06/23/2008, -90/+822The current generation is not generating any creative, amazing people to replace the geniuses of the previous generations. Every time someone like George Carlin dies, the world seems a little more worthless.
- blahtastic, on 06/23/2008, -8/+524Being a bit of a youngin (though I suppose I'm about average or slightly above for the digg community), I have to say was not only a great comedian, but clearly the best Mr. Conductor that Shining Time Station ever had. :(
- Adgeman, on 06/23/2008, -5/+501Well Mencia does like to copy other comedians so maybe you'll get your wish....
- maz2331, on 06/23/2008, -14/+466America has lost not just a great comedian, but one of our best and brightest philosophers. George Carlin will be sorely missed by millions world wide.
- AxemRed, on 06/23/2008, -6/+453God didn't take him. Joe Pesci did.
- lousyhunter, on 06/23/2008, -3/+390"Death is caused by swallowing small amounts of saliva over a long period of time."
-George Carlin
He will be missed... - SpringHJack, on 06/23/2008, -7/+379Joe damnit.
- trotskyist, on 06/23/2008, -4/+352George Carlin was easily one (if not the) greatest comedians of our time. The comedy world will never be the same, and he will be dearly missed.
- PhineasMcSimp, on 06/23/2008, -6/+329Why are all the cool people dying...? :/
- LumberingOaf, on 06/23/2008, -3/+311He was one of the the greatest:
"You live eighty years, and at best you get about six minutes of pure magic."
"What happened was: Richard had a heart attack. Then I had I had a heart attack. Then Richard burned himself up, and I said, "***** that! I'm having another heart attack!""
- George C.
I was fortunate enough to see him 3 times in concert. He was a comedy genius. - hoghug, on 06/23/2008, -1/+295Apropos quote:
“The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What’s that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you’re too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating…and you finish off as an orgasm!”
-G Carlin - santaliqueur, on 06/23/2008, -2/+255I saw him about 8 years ago, at a show in Massachusetts. This was his opening line:
"You know what we don't hear too much about anymore? PUSSYFARTS!"
3 old ladies sitting in front of us got up and walked out immediately. It's my opinion he opened with that one to weed that sort of people out of the audience.
RIP, good sir. - VaporBro, on 06/23/2008, -3/+240"Hi. Welcome to the future: San Dimas, California --- 2688. And I'm telling you, it's great here. The air is clean, the water is clean, even the dirt is clean! Bowling averages are way up, minigolf scores are way down. And we have more excellent waterslides than any other planet we communicate with. I'm telling you, this place is great! But it almost wasn't. You see, 700 years ago, the Two Great Ones ran into a few problems. So now I have to travel back in time to help them out. If I should fail to keep these two along the correct path, the basis of our society will be endangered. Ah, but don't worry, it'll all make sense. I'm a professional."
RIP Rufus... - thegoodsteer, on 06/23/2008, -10/+246Rest In Peace!
- nreynolds, on 06/23/2008, -9/+214uhm... just because an amazing person like george carlin dies doesn't mean there isn't someone waiting ready to fill the void. You might not enjoy it as much since you're accustomed to carlin, but that doesn't mean the world isn't full of creative geniuses, it's just hard to appreciate them when you've grown up listening to someone else.
that said, if people have 1/10 the respect for Carlos Mencia that they do for George Carlin in 20 years, I'll consider my generation worthless and kill myself. - xtinamo, on 06/23/2008, -16/+206I smoked a bowl in grief and remembrance.

(George would have wanted it that way) - TheGreatNico, on 06/23/2008, -9/+154And so a god dies. One who did not allow us to fall for the corporate BS that the media feeds us. I know that he is looking up at us, screaming, and I hope that causes as much ***** there as he did here. RIP, George
- audiopackrat, on 06/23/2008, -4/+144This is a great loss. I don't know what to say... He was one of a kind. He wasn't just a comedian. He was a philosopher who got people to think about important issues through humor. He was a genius - a legend. Goodbye George. Thank you for being here.
- jpmonkeycat, on 06/23/2008, -1/+140"Thanks to the fear of death in this country I won't have to die--I'll pass away..." -George Carlin
Rest in peace, Mr. Carlin. You will be missed. - Attol, on 06/23/2008, -35/+169The death of George Carlin is a huge loss.
I wish Dane Cook would have taken the bullet instead. - StuTheMeatMan, on 06/23/2008, -3/+131I waxed my carrot and thought about my neighbor's wife.

He will be remembered for a very long time.

By the way Cythro. I am 19 and I agree with you 100%. Hearing all my friends say Carlin sucks and Dane Cook is hilarious destroys me. I actually had the pleasure of seeing him live a few months before 'Its Bad For Ya'. Genius comedian. Absolute genius. - CJ117, on 06/23/2008, -1/+87He died a happy old *****.
- badjoke, on 06/23/2008, -2/+87Well what about Dane Co---......yeah...***** my generation.

- Gndoab, on 06/23/2008, -2/+84You know, this is the first place on digg where a quotation has been correctly used, both grammatically, and contextually.
