- jmuncy, on 11/17/2008, -31/+239I'm a Burton fan, but I'll be the first to say it... looks dumb.
- TheMeatball, on 11/17/2008, -18/+196Holy ***** Tim Burton needs to cast outside the same 4 people. I can understand he has chemistry with Depp and Bonham-Carter, but it's hurting his work.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -14/+162Jesus ***** Christ. Not again. ***** Edward Scissorhands in a funny hat.
- Rush87021, on 11/18/2008, -3/+139"He looks like Willy Wonka F'd Edward Scissorhands"

J.D. Mad Hatter - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -5/+72I agree with sirpoins, he looks like a Geisha. I think Hugh Laurie would've been an awesome Mad Hatter.
- GamingForever, on 11/17/2008, -4/+53He's going to look creepy in that film too.
- chrisroman, on 11/18/2008, -4/+37I've always been a big Burton fan, but I'm starting to grow tired of his recent films. I really wish he would do something different like Big Fish again.
- TrueJustice, on 11/18/2008, -13/+46wow you guys are all so on the cutting edge for criticizing Burton and Depp. Yea, wonka was weird and pirates was main stream. There aren't many directors who only produce gold. Burton does creepy horror, Depp does weird quirky. If you've ever heard the real story of Alice in Wonderland you'd know this is a match made in heaven. Depp is probably more Mad Hatter than his real self, and Burton has been reaching for an 'Alice' like quality in every movie he's ever made. Why do you care what the make-up looks like? It's shocking, the Mad Hatter is shocking, I didn't realize diggers were all closet make-up artists. Shut up and try to like something for once. This movie will be spot on excellent
- subigo, on 11/18/2008, -6/+36Planet of the Apes
- Eslamicolt3, on 11/18/2008, -4/+34Well, he's married to Bonham-Carter lol
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+31so basically, he finds Depp more attractive than Bonham Carter.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+28hey if I were banging Bonham-Carter I'd cast her too
- thegamingguy, on 11/17/2008, -4/+30Great find, I have been anxious to see what they would come up with.
- Jerryskid02, on 11/18/2008, -3/+28The costume....I get it, very Burton like. But what the hell is with the KISS makeup?
- firealarmist, on 11/18/2008, -19/+43Anyone else sick of the Burton-Depp correlation?
- overt, on 11/18/2008, -6/+27hey if I were casting Bonham-Carter I'd bang her too
- techtock, on 11/17/2008, -4/+25Another clue to the secret of their success: excessive eye makeup.
- 0tis, on 11/18/2008, -0/+20I know... people always tell me "No, she was auditioned for the role" - his wife has auditioned for a role in every film he's made, and always got it? And people don't find that suspect?
She's very good, and so is Johnny Depp, but I'd find it easier to respect his work (and believe me, I already respect his work) if he used some different actors and different eye-makeup. - enginedown444, on 11/18/2008, -1/+21"Seriously? He looks like Sigorney Weaver in the first Ghost Busters after she gets possessed....and then she took testosterone pills....
That is messed up."
That's actually a bit more accurate. - Phasmorphage, on 11/18/2008, -2/+20Yeah, a change of actors in Tim Burton films would be nice
that being said, hopefully this one will be good and still give kids nightmares - Blandyman, on 11/18/2008, -0/+18Only because people would notice if Johnny Depp were playing Alice.
- Culero, on 11/17/2008, -3/+21great description...I have a hard time liking depp because of W.W. , but I have no doubt he'll do well as the lead of an 80's rock band...
- aznpwnzor, on 11/18/2008, -0/+17well burton IS directing
- MasterGrief, on 11/18/2008, -1/+17For some reason, people love this kind of weirdness. I'm not sure I'll ever really understand.
- PrismoFillusion, on 11/18/2008, -1/+17Good call - I'm not a big house fan, but Hugh Laurie would make an excellent Mad Hatter.
I have NO interest in seeing Depp play the role. - jehan60188, on 11/18/2008, -0/+15needs more dark, and less geisha...
- NomortaL1, on 11/18/2008, -8/+23no, their movies are awesome
- helloemptiness, on 11/18/2008, -2/+16hey if i were Bonham-Carter i'd bang me too
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+13Yeah, Hugh Laurie with his normal British accent and some coke would make a perfect hatter.
- MasterQ, on 11/18/2008, -0/+13When do we get to see him in costume? Oh wait...
- Scopalamine, on 11/18/2008, -0/+13I've always pictured the mad hatter a bit older and not as anemic
- groo68, on 11/18/2008, -1/+14He didnt do planet of the apes, he quit in early production and they kept his name in the credits for marketing.
- Ismith988, on 11/18/2008, -5/+17HEY, ***** YOU! Invader Zim is ***** awesome
- Taedirk, on 11/18/2008, -0/+11At least he doesn't look like a pedo. This time.
- WSPanic201, on 11/18/2008, -3/+14yeah..i love tim burton, dont get me wrong, but he is too much an auteur. his stuff is all looking the same. i think he is a great artist, and every artist needs his/her own 'look' or style, but he need to mix it up a bit. sweeny todd, edward, charlie...they all are the same character; not just the actor, but the make up, costume design ...everything. i feel like i have already seen the movie from just this one picture.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -8/+18Am i the only one that likes the fact that depp is in all of burtons movies?? i think its great. They flow well , i think of the other parts depp has played and i can't imagine anyone else doing a better job
- CressCrowbits, on 11/18/2008, -0/+9Worth noting the Mad Hatter isn't exactly the main protagonist in Alice.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+9You know would have made a better Mad Hatter? Gary Busey.
Not only that, but they should expose Busey to mercury fumes for awhile...just to get that authentic touch. - MewTwo, on 11/18/2008, -1/+10Couture hatter
- whataSAMF, on 11/28/2008, -1/+10I think Guillermo Del Toro would make a better version. Im all for Tim Burton, but I could definitely see Guillermo making it really creative and awesome.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8yes, but I will probably still like the movie.
Well, hopefully anyways. I've always wanted a dark version of Alice in Wonderland. Burton does a decent job usually, so at least I have that. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8Seriously, what the ***** are you talking about?
- Remelox, on 11/18/2008, -0/+7awe
- RoyalPeach, on 11/17/2008, -12/+19disappointing. He looks the same
- nbcaffeine, on 11/18/2008, -4/+11hey if I were banging Bonham-Carter I'd cast her too
- TexasShiv, on 11/18/2008, -0/+7You lost me at "Why not play it safe?"
Because you become boring, and a one note. Thats why. End of argument. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -3/+10Meh, why change a good thing?
Besides, thats kind of a stupid comment to make. Depp has played just about every kind of character you can imagine. Name one kind that he hasn't? Even if you do think of one, I bet it took a good couple of minutes to think of it. He is the definition of a versatile actor.
I guess they could of found a new person, someone a bit more "unknown" in the acting world. But meh, like I said, why change a good thing? - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+7I always pictured him as not a transvestite.
