It happened to me.
I stayed with an abusive man for 4 years, because he threatened to kill me, among many, many other things. That was the first time I'd been in a relationship like that, so of course I believed him! He made me feel like no one would ever want me, no one would "love" me like he did.
He raped me numerous times. I was afraid of what he'd do if I turned him in, because at one point, he told me that if I did turn him in (after I'd threatened it) that as soon as he was free again, he'd come and kill me. I mean, there are so many different factors to this. It's obvious that you have NO idea.
