To be honest, there aren't really any comedians today that have a completely unique style because 1) Comedy has been around since Aristotle and 2) Modern audiences like past comedic styles, and this is a money making business.
It doesn't make it unfunny. It's actually even funnier that people today will still fall for this kind of ridiculousness, but shows like Candid Camera have been capitalizing on it forever.

I've been a fan of his music in the past, but he usually comes across as someone that loves making fun of people, but can't stand being the 'butt' of anyone else's jokes. Even if he consented to this only for the buzz it could create, kudos for allowing the rest of us to get a laugh at his expense.
