- WordsnCollision, on 06/23/2009, -0/+101Now that really is too bad. It's a shame his final few years were so difficult for him both financially and health-wise. Hey Ed, give Johnny a big "Hiyooooo!" for me.
- justinzagar, on 06/23/2009, -1/+74Just heard, RIP.
- badwithcomputer, on 06/23/2009, -1/+66in case anyone is wondering why i submitted the wikipedia article instead of a news article, i heard the story on the morning news as they first reported it and when i went to search for a link there were zero stories written about it. instead of predictably complaining about the source, enjoy the fact that we have such a rapidly edited place for mostly reliable [citation needed] information.
condolences to his friends and family. rest in peace, ed. - drisawesome, on 06/23/2009, -0/+51Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's Heaven.
- Tarkaan, on 06/23/2009, -1/+50The end of an era. The guy that *defined* the word "sidekick" for late night TV.

- chadsmith729, on 06/23/2009, -2/+14RIP Mr. McMahon, let the sweepstakes in the sky take you to a higher place. Let the chances of already winning $10,000,000 dance in your mind. Let the thoughts of all the peoples lives you touched reverberate off the clouds while you telepathically tell who will be the next big winner. Let you call thy name from the heavens and bring down the next contestant ... oh wait that's Bob Barker, so disregard that last one. Let the world rejoice as you brought the best of Johnny Carson out and made him a great host. Rest in peace my friend, rest in peace.
- asgardshill, on 06/23/2009, -1/+12Where did you post the article? You post it, I'll Digg it.

- lambchoppe, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Babyman actually comments quite a bit also
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+5It's called utility! The amount of happiness he brought to the world and the amount of people he influenced means more people cared about him. Wouldn't you care about someone you're familiar with dying more than someone you don't know?
- vandenoyl, on 06/24/2009, -0/+3oh, and theeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnnnny!!!!!
- deweyhewson, on 06/23/2009, -2/+5I wonder if, when he reached the other side, his first words were, "T-h-h-h-e-r-e's Johnny!"

- Kriegg, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4Damn, who's gonna host Star Search now?
- hawkdude56, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4Hiyo to you, Ed. RIP
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4I dug through three pages of digg's "search: Ed McMahon: newest first" to digg whoever subbed it first. You beat the first internet article by over ten minutes.

- ShadyATOMIC, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3I laughed at that, but not because it's funny, because it's just something he would do, and it was instinct when I played it back in my head to laugh. I even pointed at the TV. :'(
- quirkopatra, on 06/24/2009, -0/+3dugg for gallows humor.

Rest in Peace Mr. McMahon. - ZombieSociety, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2What does the World Wildlife Fund have to do with pro wrestling?
Also, horrible joke is horrible. - AraleNorimaki, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2You may have already won $10,000,000! American Family Publishers sweepstakes.
- sizzzzlerz, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Now who's gonna deliver me my oversized publisher's clearinghouse check, huh? Who?
- louiebaur, on 06/23/2009, -2/+4Rest in Peace Ed.
- themastersb, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Goodnight sweet prince.
- stonebear, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2I remember him well. In 1991 I had a summer job at the Greek Theater in LA as an usher. Sinatra was performing that night, and the audience was full of swells. I was standing in front of the wine bar during the intermission, and up sauntered Ed with a half full glass of wine in his hand. "Excuse me young man, can you direct me to the wine bar?" I replied as sincerely as I could; "I'm sorry sir, we don't have a wine bar." I got a belly laugh and a thumbs up off of Ed McMahon that night.
- deepbl, on 06/24/2009, -0/+2Hopefully his wife is forced to get a job.
- ZachsMind, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Born in LA?
I thought he was born in Michigan. When I was a kid I used to live in Michigan, before the car companies abandoned the state, and Ed McMahon being from there was one of those things they tell kids when talking about how great Michigan was. I just double checked and the WikiPedia page confirms it. Although I know Wikipedia's not 100% dependable and blah blah blah. I like WikiPedia. Even when it's wrong, especially when it happens to agree with me. - web2pointYo, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Seacrest out!
