- xwfilm, on 05/01/2008, -9/+203Keep in mind he breathed 23 minutes of pure oxygen before performing this stunt. The record for breath holding without it is only 8 minutes.
- omnis, on 05/01/2008, -11/+167Why the hate on David Blaine? If I could hold my breathe for 17 minutes, I think that would be pretty awesome. Of all the crap that gets put on Digg, you're all acting like this is our lowest point...
- inactive, on 05/01/2008, -1/+128Maybe he does big whoop wanna fight about it?
- bigdoof, on 05/01/2008, -4/+126Oh my god, David Blaine! What the eff!
- kiiwii, on 05/01/2008, -10/+127What happened to doing street magic that was at least somewhat entertaining?
- Fizban119, on 05/01/2008, -9/+109...you guys wanna see some magic?

- greenlight2001, on 05/01/2008, -12/+70I HIGHLY doubt he breathed 23 minutes of PURE (as in 100%) oxygen... unless he likes having no lungs and dying.
- tatinthehat, on 05/01/2008, -5/+61He shrank your effing car!
You shrunk my Honda you BITCH! - SnuKs, on 05/01/2008, -7/+63WHAT THE EFF? DEMON!
- Daniel591992, on 05/01/2008, -2/+52Really...
He broke a world record. How awesome is that? - dailyapplecrisp, on 05/01/2008, -24/+73people still care about David Blaine?
- jwk4heels, on 05/01/2008, -19/+66Attention whore.
- 11familyguy11, on 05/01/2008, -1/+41It's called an endurance test. He does that along with street magic. Some people seem to jump on the hate David Blaine bandwagon that was started by people that don't understand the ideas behind street magic. Stooges, assistants, gimmicks, these are and always have been a part of magic. Of course he can't throw a card through a window or reach through plate glass to grab a watch, the magic is in tricking you into thinking you've seen him do the impossible.
As for the endurance, it's impressive. Many people enjoy it, apparently they don't post on Digg though. - pegothejerk, on 05/01/2008, -0/+37How many kinds of pure oxygen are there again?

- Shuk, on 05/01/2008, -2/+32Thank you! This man broke a world record, and performed an amazing physical feat that pushed the limit of the human body, and all digg users can do is hate! Seriously, some of you people just want a reason to hate everything (except Linux and cat pictures)!
- mizatt, on 05/01/2008, -1/+29Why would breathing in pure oxygen do that? I'm not arguing with you, I'm genuinely curious
- misterteenwolf, on 05/01/2008, -28/+55i wanna see david blaine do a permanent disappear act
- Aurabolt, on 05/01/2008, -5/+30....he just pissed orange soda....... DID IT BURN !?!
- rebotfc, on 05/01/2008, -5/+30If only he had held on for another hour or two...
- Lousansano, on 05/01/2008, -2/+27Carbon Dioxide you idiot
- wellyuk, on 05/01/2008, -1/+25David Blaine's recent stunts are much like installing linux on a calculator. Pointless but they're there to be done, I suppose. Same point as climbing up Everest or clipping 153 pegs to your face.
Things don't have to have a point to be done. - mizatt, on 05/01/2008, -5/+28Dugg for that tagline. Apparently he used some kind of pure oxygen that allows one to hold their breath longer (he still set the record for using that, however).
- Iztikeit, on 05/01/2008, -3/+24I dont' know why anyone is hating on the guy. He said it was his "lifelong" dream, what's the problem? It's not like he's any worse than most of the people marketing themselves.
- inactive, on 05/01/2008, -1/+21You can breathe pure oxygen for quite a while before you begin to notice detrimental effects. That's just not true.
- spootmonkey, on 05/01/2008, -1/+20illusions Micheal...
- dn11, on 05/01/2008, -0/+19hey, why not? so was Houdini, but people seem to forget that tradition of magician/stuntmen from the turn of the 20th century
- SuperJimmyJimbo, on 05/01/2008, -1/+18tricks are something whores do for money..
- turpenine, on 05/01/2008, -0/+17-15 minutes of oxygen? maybe you sir should challenge this blaine.
- daizaru, on 05/01/2008, -4/+19I'm amazed at how underwhelmed the majority of people are about this whole thing, I guess maybe David Blayne doing awesome and seemingly impossible things is just commonplace.
As for the oxygen thing, people act like it was cheating but I saw the videos today... he trained for months to pull that off. It was definitely impressive... his heart rate was high the entire time. I think if he wasn't in front of a studio audience constantly talking about him he might have held out longer. Very impressive oxygen or not. - cawpin, on 05/01/2008, -0/+15http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYxu_MQSTTY
- Llanowar, on 05/01/2008, -0/+15I've got cluster headaches, one of it's treatments is 100% pure oxygen. So I often breath 100% oxygen for +/- 15 minutes. No problems with it at all.
- bustachops, on 05/01/2008, -2/+16ha ha you're a magician
- SamuraiGhost, on 05/01/2008, -0/+14At least two, O2 and O3. It would be amusing to see David Blaine try to breath the latter.
- J4k3, on 05/01/2008, -0/+14Why?
- freezerburn819, on 05/01/2008, -1/+15david blaine > bottlenose dolphin.
- paulie86, on 05/01/2008, -4/+18Stop putting sh*t on our bodies, David Blaine!
- keithwired, on 05/01/2008, -1/+15For all you diggers not understanding the relevance of him using oxygen to set this record, it is 100% cheating in my opinion. I am an NJ certified EMT which allows me access to medical grade oxygen and allows me to administer it to patients. Now, for some science, normal atmospheric air at sea level contains about 21% oxygen and the majority of the rest is nitrogen with some other noble gasses mixed in as well such as argon. By him breathing pure oxygen for 23 minutes prior to this stunt, he flushed all of the carbon dioxide out of his system and super oxygenated his blood and all of his organs with almost 5 times the amount of oxygen as normal. It is totally possible to breathe pure oxygen, it does NOT burn your lungs as some retards on here think, you shouldn't be breathing 100% oxygen for an extended period of time because you will start to get tingling in your extremeties and other side effects but doing it for 20 minutes for just this stunt is no big deal. Oxygen also is a great hangover cure as well, from personal experience I can say that breathing pure oxygen the next morning after heavy drinking clears your head VERY well and gets rid of that pounding headache and mental fog.
- skyshock1, on 05/01/2008, -4/+18STOP PUTTING ORANGE SODA IN MY MOUTH DAVID BLAINE!!!
- DeepFriedFetus, on 05/01/2008, -3/+16"When I was a kid, I really wanted a catcher's mitt. But my dad wouldn't buy it for me. So I held my breath and hit my head on the coffee table. The doctors said I had brain damage."

- daizaru, on 05/01/2008, -0/+12He's more than a magician, every stunt he's done of late has been an exhaustive test of physical endurance and all are incredible. I think breaking records is a lot more memorable than a magician.
- lukeredfive, on 05/01/2008, -0/+12This was a pretty impressive feat, i was pretty happy that oprah was doing something interesting for once. they were talking about how he keeps his body in peak condition and all the preparing he had done for it. i only vaguely know who he is. apparently he does magic also. i know lots of you think that the breathing oxygen beforehand makes it not a big deal, but really... could you do it? no. i cant hold my breath more than two minutes if im DETERMINED. i doubt that oxygen would improve it much...
- NevaDieENT, on 05/01/2008, -1/+13Yea I personally like Cheezits and Orange Soda... and how the hell did he do it really... I didn't think that was biologically possible...
