Any lawyer will tell you that you never talk to the authorities without complete immunity from prosecution. The Libby and Martha Stewart trials, and many other instances, prove that if you tell the whole truth, you can and likely will still be prosecuted and convicted of lying under oath. If you keep your mouth shut, the prosecutor can't do anything to hurt you.
