- chonuts, on 05/14/2008, -1/+40Everyone knows you only need Wirt's Leg and a Tome of Town Portal to get there. Sheesh.
- sockpuppets, on 05/14/2008, -1/+40I saw a concert there once, it was a mooving experience.
- ubernoggin, on 05/14/2008, -3/+20Moo.
- Conway, on 05/14/2008, -2/+18Another freak'n NBC11 slideshow.
- Ridgeliner7, on 05/14/2008, -1/+16County Fairs were originally all about Agriculture and Farming. The county there was in the past, big on agriculture...hence the name of the place, not unfortunate at all.....because it was where they held the big livestock shows and judgings! FYI, Barry Goldwater was nominated there in 1964, as the Republican candidate for President.....;-)
- AriaStar, on 05/14/2008, -0/+14When I think Cow Palace, I always think of a smelly, cow-***** filled place overrun by cows wearing those paper crowns from Burger King.
- DeathJux, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14I'm sorry, I don't believe in cows.
- ProjectGSX, on 05/14/2008, -0/+10I saw Nirvana at the Cow Palace on New Years eve back in the day.. And ive seen the trailer for Mirror's Edge, too. WTF is with all of these digg articles claiming I havent heard of ***** lately?
- homercles337, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10I have heard of it. I have actually been there more than once.
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10Horrible acoustics, two bathrooms, but back when, that was where EVERYBODY came for the big gigs.
- piesforyou, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8Oh, pull the udder one.
- Sparkster185, on 05/14/2008, -0/+9That '73 NYE Grateful Dead & Allman Brother's show is epic.
- screamingjoker, on 05/14/2008, -1/+12DUGG! for Classic shows and events. I live on Long Island, they demolished the LI Arena, where Frampton Comes Alive was recorded, and built ...a Target. You can stand in the pillow section right about where Frampton played his classic solo. The disposable world sucks. Maybe its just pointless to hang on anyway. fleeting moments of time and all?
- diulei, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7I used to think everyone was joking or mispronouncing "Cal" Palace, until I went there.
- scoetrain, on 05/14/2008, -2/+8About as bad as the name of our main concert venue here in Nashville-- Gaylord Entertainment Center.
Actually it would make more sense if the two places switched names. - iheartcrack, on 05/14/2008, -1/+8I went to see WWF wrestling there when I was a kid...Junkyard Dog and Ricky "The Steamboat" Dragon. Good times.
- jlee2081, on 05/14/2008, -1/+9The trip out to the Cow Palace is nearly as exciting as the events. The area is a bit dodgey to say the least.
- edwartica, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6That comment is full of Bull!
- sterntastic223, on 05/14/2008, -5/+18What an unfortunate name for a concert venue.
- knyghtryda, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7I guess this is pretty unknown to non-bay area people, but anyone who's been in the bay for even a short time will have heard ads for some event at the cow palace, normally some mega sale or monster truck rally.
- Jsmuli2, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5If only the title of this submission was "Cow Palace: The Greatest Arena You've Never *Herd* Of."
- antsmarchn, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6LAME, anyone into music knows a lot of great acts that have played at the cow palace.
- ngmcs8203, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6That wasn't because of the Cow Palace. That was because it was the ***** Beatles. When they first came to America they were perplexed by the reaction. They thought people went to concerts to hear music, but in the states it was all about screaming.
- The_Red_Monkey, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7Its a legend around here. From Elton John to Monster Trucks. The Cow Palace has it all.
- asskicker32, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5NO!!! Leave it there and just refurb it. I love all the super sales and actual rodeos they still have there.
- twitchr, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6not really.
unless you think cities are dodgey. there are plenty of places in SF to be scared of, but this ain't one of em. - mlvassallo, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4More NBC11 spam. Cow Palace is a pretty famous venue...
- eggraid, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6I'm sorry, but as a cow, I must mention that I don't believe in you. I believe that humans are only a theory. They're not based on facts
- still0lil0wagon, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5exactly :-) ... then they can rip off local advertisers for more $$$. This is G.E/ NBC Uni of course.
Call the newsdesk and tell them to stop it 408 432 4780 - xpike, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4Make sure you bring good directions. You might end up being mugged if you take a wrong turn.
- edwartica, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4obligatory "That's what she said!"
- SenorCardgage74, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4Big rock shows at the Palace were before my time but Ive been to some huge parties and raves there back in the day.
So much history at that place, but the facility is run down as hell and the encroaching ***** Daly City neighborhood looks like something out of City of God. - inmodify, on 05/14/2008, -2/+6Impatient Cow...
- BufordT, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3There's a Cow Palace in a town near me, but it is just a sale barn that sells cattle, hogs, sheep and hay bales.
- Gir53457, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5Then where else am I going to go for 70% off of electronics? Fry's?
- DCGaymer, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4Sounds like something that should be in Ft. Worth.
- Mudcrutch, on 05/14/2008, -3/+6More NBC11 spam.. where all the same people digg up their stories.
- Surferess, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Elton John's insane wig!
- terracottapai, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Here's where Keith passes out for the first time (the wrangling act they do with the half conscious Moon at about 2:40 is priceless)

- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5As a native to SF, I can definitely say it has a deep history for the city, positioned at the most southern point of the city. I would hate to see it go. In fact I don't want it to go at all.
- kooft, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4Nah, scratch the Cow Palace and put in Tommy's Joynt instead (if it's not already on your list).
- jlee2081, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3during the day it's safe enough but its a completely different story at night. the sunnydale housing projects (one of the worst in the city) is right next to the cow palace. not the type of folks you want to cross paths with.
- guillebravo6, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3This place is dope! I've been there many times for concerts and other big events. Great place
- kooft, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4Primus... Yeah, good times. Though one concert we did have to walk through a maze between animal stalls. Made for an interesting time, that's for sure.
- sfrench, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4The Who had a concert there where Keith Moon was so drunk that he couldn't finish the show, so they had a fan from the audience (Scott Halpin) finish the show on drums.

- SenorCardgage74, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Plus I would imagine back in the day concert sound wasnt made to be as powerful as it is even in the last 40 years
- Camaroman, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4I remember driving up there for a huge rave called cyberfest back in 2001. Amazing facility, good times.
