- daxxer, on 07/08/2008, -5/+34Women always use the domestic violence ... just a hint of it gets them pity and the guy is outgunned immediately whether true or not. Just look at jedds comment above. If ... and she already has his pity. Dad's get the raw end in every state of this nation. Just my 7 cents (due to inflation!)
- louiebaur, on 07/08/2008, -1/+25Damn at 54 she is still looking pretty good. Must be that bowflex thing she does with ole Chuck Norris:-)
- jgambleii, on 07/08/2008, -3/+21Who names their kid Sailor? Anyway, it sounds like the use of "force" was something normal for anyone over 25. I got spanked, my dad use to wrestle me to the ground and sometimes my arm would hurt, or I'd get an elbow in the side. It's no big deal really. It sounds like the father is just a little more old school that Christie is. For the record Christie, "Time Outs" don't work. They really don't.
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -1/+16I'm so tired of the drama between people and their divorces. I hate that not only the people in this situation think we are interested, but that people.com needs stuff like this to report. I bet there are two sides to this story.
- dumpyhumpy, on 07/08/2008, -0/+14Excuse me, but who the ***** cares?
- shutaro, on 07/08/2008, -0/+12I read the headline and thought the article was about her personal chef... I was disappointed.
- cnicodemus, on 07/08/2008, -1/+12She can use "overwhelming force" on me.
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -0/+10I think it's total gym.
- WantToPlay, on 07/08/2008, -2/+11It's a shame that their divorce is soooo publicized. I know that she wants everyone to know what type of douche bag her soon to be ex-husband is, But gee can't she think about how this is going to effect the children? It's bad enough that their parents are getting a divorce, now they get to hear it all on tv and anywhere they may go. It's a shame how we as parents, how some don't think about how their actions will effect their children in the future....
I do feel for Christie, I've sorta been in her situation before. But it will get worse before it gets better... unfortunately....
For the record, she is still very pretty. I want to know what her fountain of youth is. - hollywoodphony, on 07/08/2008, -0/+8If you're going to use force, you might as well be overwhelming about it.
- ConfirmedCynic, on 07/08/2008, -0/+8Standard divorce tactic. Call the husband a child abuser. It's done so often that such accusations are meaningless. EXCEPT in a family court, where the accusation might as well be a conviction.
- Tyrghast, on 07/08/2008, -0/+7***** like this, celebs doing stupid *****, takes up more of the evening news time than real issues...
- hep2djive, on 07/08/2008, -1/+8I would be dead now if my folks didn't manhandle me periodically. Heck I remember the football coach giving us a swat for any "C" or lower.
- SpyCatcher, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6There has be something seriously wrong with Christie Brinkley that everyone is not aware of. This is her 3rd divorce that has ended with many crazy accusations by her against her former husbands.
I don't know about the rest of you but to me she has no credibility. - elister, on 07/08/2008, -0/+610-12 years ago when she divorced him, this current drama is based on husband #4.
- mattlohkamp, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6who posts this *****?
this is not news, and digg.com is not FOX. - norby1, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6 Christie marry me?
- Rikkochet, on 07/08/2008, -1/+7"About a dozen times" over 13 years (the age of their oldest child).
I doubt he's a serial child abuser. That really sounds a lot more like soup grapes and a bitter wife trying to disrupt divorce proceedings. - inactive, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6You mean kids are not allowed to be spanked every once in a while? Until about the age of 6-7, kids are retards and need to be taught that the household has rules by force if necessary (if they happen to be extra-retarded).
- AmyVernon, on 07/08/2008, -4/+10so, Christie, when's marriage No. 3?
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -6/+12I don't blame her for leaving him if he's putting his hands on the kids.
- starskii, on 07/08/2008, -2/+7Beat him with a stick.
- JerichoSam, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6This divorce gets messier by the minute. I agree with WantToPlay that the parents should have considered how this would affect their children before publicizing all of this.
- CrackyJSquirrel, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5Time Outs work, but only until the child realizes they don't mean anything. Then its time to step it up a level.
Its interesting to me though, because it sometimes feels like I am part of the last generation that was reprimanded with a strong hand and don't think its abuse. We accepted our beatings because they were deserved. I knew I did something wrong, so I had to deal with the punishment. Now it doesn't matter if the kid is right or wrong, you so much as threaten to spank or bitch slap you kid and child services are all over your ass. Damn soft kids these days.. - inactive, on 07/08/2008, -1/+5in the butt
- uptown, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4unfunny?
- louiebaur, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4Thats it I couldn't think of the name of it
- Xihix, on 07/08/2008, -1/+4I don't feel like reading it, but let me make something clear: Hit your kids. It's the best form of discipline, period. Not excessively to abuse them, but the next time they do something bad, such as down right REFUSING to do something or eat something, take one hand out, form a flat surface, and smack that kid. Sending them to their room ***** will do nothing, especially when they're older. I mean, most foreign or minority parents do it, I think it's just unpopular with white folks for some reason.
- drmobutu, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Billy Joel was number three...
- Kenzan, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Her fountain of youth is the spunk from the wallets of various multi-millionaires
- HumanRecalled, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3@manhandling their children
oh yes ...of course ! Funny this only comes as a defensive move in court after he was caught cheating !
Appparently by her logic and admission were to believe that piledriving the kids was just fine as long as he didn't stick his dick in the babay sitter ! Now that he was caught the gloves are off
hahahah come now Christie now your just looking petty - slayernine, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Why should I care about celebrities?
- dorkus999, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Thank god we have digg to tell us about these things!
- Bittermanscolon, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Totally, I got enough to worry about without giving a ***** about people who could give a ***** about me.
OMG, they're celebrities!!! I should warship and appease them constantly! ***** sakes...... - forceuser, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Did anyone else think of Star Wars?..
- CrackyJSquirrel, on 07/08/2008, -1/+4I went to catholic high school and proceeded to get beat down by the teachers and dean of students. All deserved of course because I was a trouble maker. Never did I think I was getting abused, and actually feel it helped me.
- ngmcs8203, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I still think this guy needs to be locked up for being an idiot. How many thousands of dollars did he spend on internet porn? I guess nobody told him the ***** was free on the internet.
- gossipmonkey, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2is she the one who says, "Oh, it's fanTAStic!"??
- mal1964, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Its sounds to me like she's using the kids for a better outcome in court(more money). I don't understand why she's saying it now If it was so bad why didn't she do something about it before, Because she wasn't affected(e?) by it before.
- seks03, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Why is this such an important divorce? is it only because it's Christie Brinkley or is there something else about this case? I just don't see what makes this divorce anymore important then others going on.... now if you don't mind, I'm going back to my A-Rod divorce minute by minute updates.
- SpectralSounds, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2It's pretty easily actually. The person that has the most to gain, will lie the most.
- sockpuppets, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Thanks, now there's pickles strewn all over my kitchen.
- GiggleStick, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I agree. She's a hottie, but often they turn out to be rather nuts. When she left Billy Joel for some ski-rescue guy, I pretty much figured she was a flake.
- thailand1972, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Oh, she's not to blame then if she's lying....
- Kenzan, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2All's fair in love and war. Especially during a divorce, people (especially chicks who stand to get some serious cash) will say or do anything to increase the payout and make the ex suffer.
In all likelihood, you never know who's telling the truth with these things. - dalittle, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I wonder why they do not have a prenup? This would have been over before it began and they could both get on with their lives.
- MildApplause, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I wonder why people care about celebrity divorces. These people are millionaires many times over and so they have enough money to live comfortably without working for several lifetimes, regardless of whether they win or lose. It's not like one of them or the other is going to be living under a freeway overpass because of this.
The *loser* will be better off financially than most people could ever hope to be. - inactive, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I can't escape this story! Why is this on the front page? Why is it on ANY page ANYWHERE?
- jeanette3654, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2This "charge" is pretty much a SOP for any female in a divorce piss-up. Doesn't have to be true or even proved, just put out there. Since the man is a big, smelly brute, he is presumed to have done it. In every single divorce case that I have personal knowlege of, I wouldn't give custody of the family cat to the female, much less the kids. FYI, as you can see by my name I'm a woman and I bring this point of view up because, in my experience, it is the truth!
- MildApplause, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1zomg I remember that! It's the part where the one guy is all "Use force, Luke"
