- vampireboyy, on 06/22/2009, -3/+91That's ***** *****. My cousin is in jail for 5 years because he smacked his wife ONCE after she hit him with a frying pan. And we had 4 witnesses who would have testified on his behalf, yet they threw him in prison and he was 3 semesters away from graduating from college. It just disgusts me how celebrities get treated like gods among men because they appear on film. We awe over every move they make and every thought they tweet. And in all of our glorification and admiration of these celebrities, we are the ones who bestow upon them the power that they have over us. My states governor is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold - ***** - Schwarzenegger. We all know that his election would have only ever passed in this state if it wasn't for the fact that he is a movie star.
And in Chris Brown's specific case, I honestly hope that people not only remember the acts of violence which he put her threw, but I also hope we all remember how he tried to cover up his foot-steps by being an ass kissing 19 year old who thinks that his money can fix everything. He's a rapper.. not a Hero. And don't give me that "he's a hero to our children" crap. No, he isn't. Just because he is on some album covers and raps shouldn't exempt him from the same laws and moral standards that we are ALL held to. - americanoboy, on 06/23/2009, -2/+46lol @ people who thought US judicial system is legitimate and fair.
- DrKnowitall, on 06/23/2009, -1/+39Do celebrities ever get the sentence a normal person would get?
5 years probation, a class and 1400 hours community service for domestic violence.
Would any normal person NOT be behind bars for beating the crap out of Rihanna? - mikemehak, on 06/23/2009, -3/+31I believe the judge was quoted as saying "bitch had it coming..."
Plus, he probably had OJ's lawyers. - Medicamusic, on 06/23/2009, -1/+25He beat the system worse than...
- Import98, on 06/23/2009, -1/+17Makes me proud how Rihanna stood up for battered woman across the country and made sure she prosecuted Brown to the furthest extent of the law.....wait....never mind.
What was I thinking? - qualar, on 06/23/2009, -0/+16US Justice is insane. Man beats a woman and gets community service. Woman downloads 24 songs and gets $1.9 million fine. In what world is this fair.
- qwerty121, on 06/23/2009, -0/+16*****.
Peter Sunde; Fredrik Neij; Gottfrid Svartholm; and Carl Lundström are all accused of being ***** guilty and receiving 1 year in jail with fines equalling $3,620,000 just for "assisting in making copyright content available" while Chris Brown BEATS up a person and only has to do some community service.
Guess we know the sort of people the "judicial" system caters for. - weaksnyc, on 08/14/2009, -0/+14I'll be the first to say this piece of ***** should be behind bars, but you can't blame anyone here except Rihanna (to be clear, I'm talking about the sentencing, not her getting beat on). This was a PLEA AGREEMENT, meaning the prosecutors accepted the deal. This wasn't decided by a judge or a jury.
I also remember her backtracking pretty heavily when all of this was going on, actually defending this douchebag at one point, although I could be wrong about this, and don't have any source to back it up. - inactive, on 06/23/2009, -0/+9Yeah, Jamie Thomas get's a fine of 1.92 million for allegedly sharing music. RIAA lovers, don't argue, it's "alleged" because it cannot be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
The lesson here: if you're poor don't break the law. If you're rich, you can do whatever the ***** you want! Awesome! - ahhell, on 06/23/2009, -0/+8Chewbacca defence wins again.
- uberduger, on 06/23/2009, -1/+8The worst part is that I read your comment and wasn't even surprised. I hope whoever is responsible for Chris' sentencing gets the crap kicked out of him. See how quickly he hands out community service to THAT punk, huh?
(I'd also like to know what his reaction would be if, hypothetically, a woman dear to him was beaten by her boyfriend...) - humboldt79, on 06/23/2009, -2/+9A sad day for women's rights.
- qwerty121, on 06/23/2009, -0/+7Fair point, but I'm sure pressure from the US copyright agencies et al contributed to the Swedish authorities going after them.
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -0/+7dude Johnnie Cochran been dead for over 4 years...unless...it zombie Cochrane!
- cowfish234, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6i'm gonna be honest, i keep reading "charlie brown" on first glance.
- Threlly1, on 06/23/2009, -1/+5Gentlemen, start yo beatch-slappin
- ganymede2010, on 06/23/2009, -1/+5I'm surprised that Mark Geragos actually kept someone out of jail.He usually loses almost every high profile case, yet he charges astronomical fee's.
- ShingoEX, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Then why bother posting if you "don't give a *****"?
- uberduger, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Ah, whoops. I must admit, I didn't RTFA!
(But I always wonder, after a case where a judge gives a lenient sentence, whether that same judge would feel the same after the same crime was perpetrated against his own family/friends... I'm guessing no.) - inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+5Must be pretty awesome to just buy your way out of any trouble you get into. Hopefully the bad press at least puts a major dent in his career.
- Biffgoods, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Good thing he wasn't playing online poker or illegally downloading one of his own songs...then he would have been in "real" trouble....
- mrZango, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4did your cousin have a clean criminal record and no history of violence? was the victim unwilling to testify against him? was he forever emotionally traumatized from the beatings he witnessed men gave to his mother??
every case is different, you can't compare your cousin's to chris browns.
and btw CB is a singer, whos songs discuss love and relationships. not a rapper who talks about guns/violence/degrading women. so lets just get that clear. - ichbeineinrcg, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Maybe next time Lucy will leave the damn football where he can kick it.
- Doopdoop, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4That *****!
- nexus420, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4so as long as he writes a catchy tune, he can beat you all he wants?
- solid12345, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4By community labor they mean playing b-ball at the YMCA with "the kids"
- ichbeineinrcg, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3This has been my long-standing agreement with James Taylor.
- LOGNATR, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4boo urns
- Ghstfce, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4If a woman ever hit me with a frying pan (how old cartoon cliche btw) I think I would have to disarm her. No, not remove the pan from her hand, I meant truly dis-arm her. Take her arm off and beat her with it.
- mikemehak, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3he's just that good
- yourmightyruler, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3A normal person would be in jail for stalking Rihanna.
- defkt, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4know its not the point, but he's not a rapper......he's an auto-tuned teenybopper one-man boy band.
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3I bet he's still got throngs of women who would drop their thongs for him too. I guarantee it in fact. It's "bass ackwards" as my buddy used to say.
- markusfarkus, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2He should be in jail. His celebrity certainly has helped him here. However, he did plead guilty and that probably helped. He might be in jail otherwise.
BTW, he's not a rapper. - gforce051, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3Girl say whaaaaat?
- KiraDnote, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2He's the classic case of an ambulance chaser. It seems all he wants is fame.
- bonjourmr, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Yet Greg Bird gets 8 months for throwing a glass...not that he'll ever spend a minute in jail.
- unrealmp3, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Lol @ sarcasm.
- lilrabbit129, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1It also depends where this happened. I was listening to a radio show this morning about this. They were also surprised how "light" his sentence was. Then 2 people, who were convicted of the same thing, said that they had almost exactly the same sentence.
These were normal listeners btw. So before you start getting up in arms about his sentence, remember that your POV isnt always common. (Neither is mine). - RolltheStampede, on 06/23/2009, -2/+3Had he done the same thing to a dog his ass would be grass.
- Cockslap, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Bitch deserves the beating shes gonna get.
"Pull that ***** ball one more ***** time bitch, i double dog dare ya!"
~Charlie Brown while winding up to sock lucy - VsAcesoVer, on 06/23/2009, -1/+2"Winner!"
- markusfarkus, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Just rich
- Cockslap, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Come to me Rhianna..... I'll treat you right.
.....and by treat, I mean beat. - Wheelingdude86, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Money over justice baby
- JackG1980, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1WOW, you dont know... women like that.
- Tubal22, on 06/23/2009, -1/+2He must have used that Black Rage defense.
- diemunkiesdie, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1I'd say that many celebrities get worse sentences because prosecutors and judges are trying to "send a message".
- nepidae, on 06/23/2009, -1/+2I like my women like my chicken, battered.
