- Greg314159, on 06/12/2009, -5/+44From a CNN article: "Someone's decision to transition does not necessarily mean they are undergoing gender reassignment surgery, and in many cases they do not", said Mara Keisling, executive director of the Washington-based National Center for Transgender Equality. Keisling said she was unaware of the specifics in Bono's case, but speaking generally, a transition means that he will now want to be "known, seen, viewed" as a male.
This story has inspired me. From this day forward, I would like to be ""known, seen, viewed" as a large gorilla. From now on, please call me BoBo. - twinklyJesus, on 06/11/2009, -1/+38Put that in the "don't care" file.
- dc383, on 06/11/2009, -2/+33Bono adds Boner, pro-bono? News @ 11o'*****
- newzdude, on 06/11/2009, -3/+33Interesting effect of naming a child CHASTITY....
- Wholekernalcorn, on 06/12/2009, -1/+21Well good for her/him...Regardless if you agree or not...I would much rather be around a happy and satisfied 350 pound man than around a sad, depressed and angry 350 pound dyke.
- robosexy, on 06/11/2009, -1/+17Chastity, DON'T DO IT. I know it seems cool being a man, but trust me, not as cool or easy as it used to be.
- Bloodwine, on 06/12/2009, -0/+13I have never met a Chastity who wasn't a complete whore.
- gvoakes, on 06/12/2009, -0/+13I'm hard as heck right now
- alanocu, on 06/12/2009, -0/+13A doctor I know helped develop a set of protocols for a sex change unit in a teaching hospital. The lion’s share of the research went into studying and identifying the psychological factors in play before the procedure and those that should be addressed after the change was finalized. The hospital no longer does this type of procedure, because they found that many of the candidates were in such psychological distress that they needed psychological treatment well after the surgery was successfully completed. If a man is struggling to get released from a woman’s body, it stands to reason that he will not necessarily find the sex change equal to the liberation he anticipated.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -0/+11Get a gorilla suit, and we'll talk. You don't have to get species reassignment surgery, but at least look the part.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -1/+12Chaz Boner.
- ChronicColonic, on 06/12/2009, -0/+10She is having the complex procedure called 'addadicktome'.
- mikeyrum, on 06/11/2009, -1/+10cher can breed??!!
- bdubatdi, on 06/12/2009, -1/+9this is news?
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -3/+10Ok. Well I thought she transformed to a young male child when she married Michael Jackson.
- polypropglop, on 06/11/2009, -3/+10*crosses fingers* I hope this means Cher will get his sex change as well.
- 2Pharcyded, on 06/12/2009, -0/+7well i guess shes not gay anymore...
- Hetman, on 06/12/2009, -0/+7Yea you have the act the part also. So go a head and start throwing your ***** and drinking your piss.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -0/+6There was a girl named Chastity in my middle school who got knocked up at 13
- anotherjack, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5I don't know her personally, so I can't comment on her specific journey. But I have found that a lot of women who would have been happy as butches in the past, are instead becoming men. I think both genders are uncomfortable with butches to such an extent that butch women just transition in the hopes that life will be easier. Like, the standard thing people say to a butch woman nowadays is "you want to be a man." The idea is that maybe we had to dress a certain way to get the same treatment as men back in the day, but now we can be female architects or construction workers, we can be a CEO in a dress now. So there is supposedly no reason for the "pretense" of being butch. People say like "just get it over with" like a manly woman is so unnatractive and we'd rather have her be a dickless dude on hormones than a chick in a suit.
I think that the "you want to be a man" thing about butches is a fallacy. There is something about living in a straight society that, yes, makes you wish you were the correct gender for who you are attracted to. If you are a little girl, and you want to marry your female teacher, maybe you do think it would be better to be a boy, because boys are allowed to marry girls. Maybe you do end up deliberately being more male, but I think that the core element of being a lesbian is just that - the lesbian part. You want to be with girls, and so much of who you present yourself as, is is just an attempt to make sense of that. Being a manly woman does tell other women that you might be a lesbian. And there may be some sense to that approach. Femmes have a terrible time convincing other lesbians that they are gay. So maybe it's nature, nurture, whatever, but being a butch does help you to be treated as a lesbian.
And there are butch straight woman, too. The Tombys who grew up and never got into silly shoes or face paint, who dress for comfort or who are independent and not being into "treated like a lady". So maybe that is nature, nurture, whatever, but being a butch does help you to be treated as a independent adult, too. I think that men are treated differently, still, in a lot of areas, and they get perks that certain women don't care about. I also think that women are treated differently, still, in a lot of areas, and they get perks that certain men don't care about. I think it's way too simplistic to see a butch woman or femme dude and say "Aw, he wants to be a girl, she wants to be a man, they aren't attractive to me, they should just make the decision and be whatever fits." - absolutelytrue, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6Yeah, Chastity Bono is such an Elvis whore.
- evergrim, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5Her Mum is a transvestite anyway sorta.
- amorrise, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6I suppose it is miraculous that Sonny and Cher gave birth to a human
- PennIT, on 06/12/2009, -2/+7Filed under "Who Gives a *****"
- snagglefoof, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5And it's more ironic when she's named after a movie featuring a bisexual character.
From Wikipedia: "Bono was named 'Chastity' after the title of Cher's first feature film, in which Cher played a bisexual character created by Sonny." - dlan4327, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4How much would you have to hate your kid to name them Chastity Bono?
- Bloodwine, on 06/12/2009, -3/+7Well, Cher isn't all that attractive either, though.
- HurricaneDC, on 06/12/2009, -2/+6Who the ***** is this and why is it on the Digg front page?
- spinalcracker, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3no you didn't
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4What? I thought Chastity was already a dude.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Cher has a bigger dick than all of us.
- dshigure, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3If you knew the first things about chromosomes, you'd know that XY is typically male, and XX is typically female.
If you knew the second thing about them, you'd know that there is a portion of the population who have strange chromosome configurations, are ambiguously gendered at birth, or even have a chromosome configuration for the opposite sex entirely. (These people are rare, cannot reproduce, but you would be hard pressed to find someone who was disrespectful enough to refer to anyone of them as "it")
But in any case, I'm glad that you can know more about someone's "true identity" than themselves just by looking at their chromosomes, without even being a chromosome expert. I'm glad we live in a world where everything is so simple. /s - dianegall, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3No. Why would it?
Being in favour of extending rights to gays and lesbians has little to do with being a gay or lesbian in the same way that white people could be in favour of extending rights to blacks in the 1960s. - Chooxo, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Gender isn't all about body parts.
- nctarheel7, on 06/12/2009, -3/+6did you really just write that much about sex changes on digg?
- RainStreet, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3I read this in Hank Venture's voice from The Venture Bros.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -3/+6Whoops, My bad. Got my Elvis whores mixxed up. This is the one that skied into a bush after her dad skied into a Tree.
- emkaysmith, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4Unfortunately, she took after her father rather than her mother in the looks department.
Can't you just see Sonny spinning madly in his grave? Sometimes payback and justice appear from strange sources. - Coffeedemon, on 06/12/2009, -1/+3I think its just you.
- ThatsNotPudding, on 06/11/2009, -2/+4So...tire pump?
- matticusf1nch, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2makes for an easy transition
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2Yes, celebrity news. That's why it's in the 'celebrity' category. You may argue that she's not a celebrity (and I'd agree) and you may argue that it isn't big news (and I'd agree) but it's news.
- logosx1, on 06/12/2009, -3/+5Time for the addadictomy, I guess. Unfortunately, it takes more than just the right plumbing to be a man.
- Chooxo, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2Must have been a nightmare having Cher as a mother, period.
- bbtrev, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2wag of the finger to you
- aspec, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2Bobo may already be on his way.
- TwoFootAfro, on 06/12/2009, -3/+5Nice ***** novel you wrote there Hemingway.
- gttim, on 06/12/2009, -2/+4Funny thing is that she probably gets more pussy than most of the guys on Digg.
