- DocHoliday22, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Some cases, it wasn't all that bad, just the lighting that was fixed. However, I won't look at these celebs the same way again...

- Konstantino, on 12/18/2007, -1/+29Dumb comment, but it does use the correct order -- maybe it should have been called "after and before", because I was a bit confused at first.
- andrewry, on 12/19/2007, -1/+26You do know there was a picture of a guy mixed in there, right?
- IllBeBack, on 12/19/2007, -6/+1Yeah, and he looked really bad in his non-Photoshopped picture.
- sunkist22, on 12/19/2007, -1/+12I think the correct post is:
doesn't exist - real - doesn't exist - real - doesn't exist - real - doesn't exist - real - doesn't exist - real - doesn't exist - real - doesn't exist - real - doesn't exist - real -
Good luck finding a hot chick that looks like the after pictures in real life dude
- liljay2k, on 12/18/2007, -3/+358some of this is just bad photography too, white balance and exposure, no wonder we need photoshop
- Kajico, on 12/18/2007, -2/+58unfortunatley because of photoshop, photographers have gotten lazy...everything is fixed in photoshop. Also some of that is bad makeup, I mean come on are the make up artists even trying or are they leaving it all up to post.
- robdiggity, on 12/18/2007, -2/+29"COME ON!"
-Gob, 2004 - nastajus, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2so makeup artists are getting lazy too then, to extend the analogy, it's all fixed in photoshop. photoshop is our image-overlord.
- Matsky, on 12/19/2007, -2/+1Let me be the first to welco... No, I won't do it, and let the cliché end here!
- robdiggity, on 12/18/2007, -2/+29"COME ON!"
- thebrawl, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1just draw in between the lines
- Zippo, on 12/18/2007, -3/+13Yeah, this is all basic editing out of blemishes, wrinkles, other random nitpicky stuff - and colour correction. This is the basic, mandatory Photoshop work.
At least they weren't making boobs bigger and lengthening legs... that's the stuff I don't really agree with.- Dibou, on 12/19/2007, -1/+34Actually they did make boobs bigger and changed body shapes in a few of them.
- IllBeBack, on 12/19/2007, -0/+13Boobs were changed in a couple of them. On one the right boob was changed to be symmetrical with the other boob.
- Markpdotcom, on 12/19/2007, -0/+9Boobs, stomachs, body shapes and that old bird from desperate housewives was awful! How wrinkled and old!
- yunus, on 12/19/2007, -0/+7Changing colors, contrast, lighting is all acceptable, editing out blemishes and wrinkles is going to far. If a person can't look like something in real life they should not be represented that way.
- DeeprBlue, on 12/19/2007, -0/+15This is the studio that does the retouching. http://www.iwanexstudio.com/
Go to Portfolio and you can mouseover the pictures and see the originals as an overlay. You might think that some pictures are just color corrected, but there's so much more going on. Eva Longoria essentially gets an 18 year old model's body photoshopped in! Fat gets zapped away, boobs get instant implants, waists and thighs get shaped and remolded. Truly astounding. - sarahKNUCKLEUP, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4they gave eva longoria her more curves/shape and made her arm less boney, and because of the differences in contouring on the face, her face actually looks a lot different... :/
- nastajus, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Zippo, and everyone, you'll love this. Sync'd to a little beat of music too.
Dove Evolution http://youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U
- Calcularius, on 12/19/2007, -5/+5That is why it is called *PHOTO* *SHOP*
All of these editing techniques were around before computers, you just had to manipulate lenses, filters, exposures, hand dodging and burning, even painting on a print and rephotographing it.
Most of the tools in photoshop are mirrored after actual photography, even the icons are pictures of what you would be doing for real... Do you even know what a dodge tool looks like?
Everything old is new again.- olbap, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Wow, can't believe you are being buried. Your statements are true. Many people gawk at Ansel Adam's work but many don't realize he spent a lot of time in the darkroom dodging and burning to get that final "perfect" print.
- tacapd42, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Ahh photoshop the ultimate do-over
- Kajico, on 12/18/2007, -2/+58unfortunatley because of photoshop, photographers have gotten lazy...everything is fixed in photoshop. Also some of that is bad makeup, I mean come on are the make up artists even trying or are they leaving it all up to post.
- Happy_Phantom, on 12/18/2007, -2/+160They really didn't need to touch up Julia Stiles; she was just fine as is. In fact it just made her look unreal.
- deejqu1k, on 12/18/2007, -8/+3Funny joke
- bowe, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4I agree, they didn't do much. All they did was remove a few stray hairs.
- Buavesy, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Completely agree, she was the only one who didn't have a drastic change from the original. And as bowe said, they just removed the stray hairs along with upping the yellow tones a little bit.
- mxxx, on 12/19/2007, -0/+13Insert joke about touching up Julia Stiles...
- plbland, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1I'd Insert som....
- plbland, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1I'd Insert som....
- jsballardx, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Her arm was retouched a lot to add more definition and get rid of the saggyness.
- jasz, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2and penelope cruz.. and even cameron diaz (not too much, but still) looked hot in their non-photoshopped version...
- mheisel, on 12/18/2007, -30/+6Why did they even put a guy in there?
- satx, on 12/18/2007, -1/+29Not everyone is a self-hating homosexual like yourself.
- mheisel, on 12/19/2007, -3/+4I suppose I deserve that for sounding like a douche. The guy seemed out of place to me because I am not used to seeing males represented in this type of situation. And for the record, I don't hate just myself, I hate everybody else too.
- satx, on 12/18/2007, -1/+29Not everyone is a self-hating homosexual like yourself.
- pimpbot1979, on 12/18/2007, -2/+186I don't have a "golden milk skin" filter on my photoshop.
- Berkana, on 12/18/2007, -1/+99You don't need one. Just duplicate the image onto a new layer, give everything a 2-3px gaussian blur, turn that into a semi-transparent mask, and unmask around the eyes, hair, nostrils, and lips to keep them sharp. All the skin pores will be blurred away, leaving everything looking baby-ass smooth.
- centran, on 12/18/2007, -0/+9Don't forget to add a hue/saturation mask after all that an bump the saturation by 10-18
- BossKey, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4In later Photoshops, the pros have moved on to Surface Blur from the old basic Gaussian Blur.
- pygmalion, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Duplicate background layer, gaussian blur the copy, set blending mode to Overlay, bring opacity down a little. This will give you the gloomy look made infamous by the LOTR series.
- HolyCrapYo, on 12/18/2007, -2/+107So duplicate a new layer, give everything 2-3 pints of glossy fur, turn that into a transformer mask. Got it.
- swabfalling, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6Cat in the furnace
- turrican, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE

- BackEnThaWomb, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2"for all i know, it could be digital piss"
- centran, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8To sum up what others say. You need to play around till you get a good feel for it but the basic steps are....
1. Gaussian blur Filter of 2-4
2. Edit -> Fade Gaussian Blue 25-50%
3. Un-sharpen Mask - Amount 100-200 | Radius 3-9 | Threshold 10-15
4. New adjustment layer of hue/saturations - move saturation to 10-20 - Iwantawii, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2Also, to whiten teeth and brighten the whites of peoples' eyes, use the Dodge Tool (press O) with a small soft brush and stroke the discolored (non white) areas.
- mrgono3, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3do that on a new layer filled with 50% grey (*****+F5) set to overlay or one of those in that category (soft light, hard light etc) just play around with it
- loganarcher, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1They should make this the new features on Photoshop...
- timmyallen, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1wrong, then many people would be out of business.
- actorboy, on 12/19/2007, -0/+24Story dugg only for the above photoshop tips.
- Saea, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2I prefer closing all channels but Green and Clone-Stamp things on 5%-30% to lighten and darken, because it keeps natural skin textures.
- cptnteneal, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1I have had the best luck with median filter at 10px and 50% on the layer and then just touch up with clone stamp instead of Gaussian blur. After that all you have to do is mask out everything but the skin, eyes, mouth and other major features.
- kiiwii, on 12/18/2007, -11/+290Quite a few of those look better BEFORE the photoshop.
- belly917, on 12/18/2007, -2/+22Especially the blond chick in the last pair of pics. Her freckles made the picture interesting.
- narcofiche, on 12/18/2007, -2/+34Exactly. I think they applied the 'porn star' filter to everything. Since when did looking fake become sexy?
- nastajus, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2since photoshop, it seems.
- markperia, on 12/18/2007, -2/+13case in point: Naomi Watts. I like her without the photoshop and this chick: http://pics.torispics.com/pics/pic_11970555497666. ...

Freckles are hot .- ehalasey, on 12/18/2007, -5/+2That's totally the girl from Clarissa Explains it All! That show was so rad!

- ehalasey, on 12/18/2007, -5/+2That's totally the girl from Clarissa Explains it All! That show was so rad!
- chris9902, on 12/18/2007, -0/+6They looked fine but after most of them look plastic. I just don't get the appeal.
- Ricochet1269, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5Glad I am not the only one who thought some of those looked better in the before shot.
- maelstromwar, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Photoshop -- making normal people feel inadequate since 1990.
- ladyarcher85, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1And many still wonder why kids today especially the girls have a ***** up view of their looks...
- Mike89, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1They always have. Having grown up in a family of four, it doesn't help me both parents are like (to my sister) "Wow your pimples are shocking today!", etc. And that's not a rare occurance, many girls have told me similar stories over the years (insert other blemish here)
- Berkana, on 12/18/2007, -0/+233I dare say that Photoshop has done more to twist our modern expectations and perception of beauty than even cosmetic surgery.
- zspeed78, on 12/19/2007, -4/+1I dunno.. I think the partying that these people do kills them or something and they need photoshop to keep up. I, and just about everyone I know, evidently has better skin than these people.
- spaceman84, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1That's partly because of the lighting they use in photography. It's intended to increase constrast, which brings out pores and blemishes a lot more. They do this knowing that they can easily photoshop out the imperfections much easier than they can adjust lighting and contrast and make it look natural.
- AriaStar, on 12/19/2007, -5/+11Thank you. It's too damned true. And so many girls, myself included, strive to achieve the levels of perfection even the prettiest people can't achieve without digital help.
- offwithyourtv, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5Eh, I just strive to stay healthy and look like myself, and it seems to work just fine. I never really thought the Barbie look was all that hot, and I was never into guys who are into the Barbie look, either. I think perhaps you're trying too hard if you desire skin that looks more like Rubbermaid storage containers than actual skin.
- ThreeDee912, on 12/19/2007, -5/+1OMGWTFBBQ! A GIRL ON DIGG!
- sgtpppr, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4100% true. As soon as they are able to 'photoshop' live video, they'll be able to turn anyone into a 'celebrity' or 'model'. It's not like you'll ever meet the majority of celebrities in real life. It's not like you'd know if the photos and videos were accurate representations of what they look like.
- nastajus, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1I submited this above, but it was after many many comments. I'm sure you digg users will love this link
Dove Evolution http://youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U - futuretheory, on 12/19/2007, -1/+0Competition is good, consumers benefit!
- Ohimesama, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1This is how we teach our young girls to appreciate their own unique beauty: By force feeding them images of god-like celebrities that could never achieve such perfection without the help of photographic modifications. No wonder so many girls have such poor self esteem, and so many Americans have such a skewed perception of 'beauty'.
- zspeed78, on 12/19/2007, -4/+1I dunno.. I think the partying that these people do kills them or something and they need photoshop to keep up. I, and just about everyone I know, evidently has better skin than these people.
- DigitalJester, on 12/18/2007, -4/+86A couple of the touch ups weren't even needed. The colour levels and brightnesscontrast levels needed adjusting, but I do that to my eBay photos, so that isn't a big deal.
And to Cameron Diaz, eat something. Boney hips != turn on.- Nesh, on 12/18/2007, -1/+4No kidding. That jawbone is terrifying.
- theoddmonkey, on 12/18/2007, -10/+2dugg your comment for the != operator.
- Iwantawii, on 12/18/2007, -1/+7To really optimize the nerdism, when using the != operator in a sentence you must also end that sentence with;
- ZenMojo, on 12/18/2007, -5/+8Defined stomach muscles + slight love handles != bony hips.
- SatansSpatula, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3Those aren't love handles, they're muscles.
- clarient, on 12/19/2007, -2/+3Bony? Those are some ***** awesome stomach muscles. I would kill to be able to show those off.
- NCSUspoon, on 12/18/2007, -3/+107What is so ugly about freckles? I thought that last picture looked better with the freckles. She looked much more home grown and tangible.
- Draginfire7, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8I was wondering the same thing myself!
- LivelyIvy, on 12/19/2007, -1/+3Took the words right out of my mouth. It's not like they're a skin disease or anything.
- FeebleGenius, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1"Home grown and tangible" has nothing to do with the Hollywood and media portrayal of celebrities.
- Draginfire7, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8I was wondering the same thing myself!

She looks like her dad.. and some one has taped a couple of ***** sacks to his front.. - iRaachie, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Gosh. That photo shopped one looks NOTHING like her. Its like they photo shopped her picture, but had to do it so much that it just doesn't turn out looking the least bit like her.
- hammerpants, on 12/19/2007, -1/+3I want to digg you, but that site sucks. The ads locked up my browser. (I'm on a work computer an can't install adblocker.)

- MisterSam, on 12/18/2007, -6/+105To be honest, I would prefer it if it was NSFW
- mortbort, on 12/18/2007, -7/+10The depesperate housewife was good in the before and after photos.
- Andero, on 12/18/2007, -2/+5Yeah. Eva looks great before the airbrush hit her. Seems they just blurred her skin and accentuated clothing on her breast, and her hair a tad.
- Markpdotcom, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3They also changed the shape of her body.
- TripKnot, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5If you look closely, they actually had to make Eva Longorias arm bigger to hide the anorexic look. How many other celebrities do you have to plump up to make look good, besides breasts?
Beyonce's dissappearing belly flab and Kelly Clarksons ass chop are quite noticeable. In fact all of these start to look very fake once you focus in on the altered areas. - bowe, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Also removed a big growth on her face, either a pimple or something worse.
- scooterfish, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1I was thinking the same thing. She looks good even in bad lighting.
- japface, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3they also made eva's ass and thighs slightly larger if you look closely.
- V878, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Have you guys seen Eva without the makeup on?
http://www.jordanisyourhomeboy.com/2006/07/12/eva- ...

- Gillfactor, on 12/18/2007, -8/+2Does Penelope Cruz have four boobs?
- brjndr, on 12/18/2007, -2/+266How hard would it have been to put the pictures side-by-side?
- Urusai, on 12/19/2007, -2/+6Without using a table? Pretty hard, apparently, judging from all the CSS tutorials.
- bowe, on 12/19/2007, -2/+5I'd just combine the two into one big image.
- logic, on 12/19/2007, -3/+8A div for each column, float one to the side, clear it at the bottom. It's really not that ***** difficult
- kutateli, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1img {float:left;}
- stoanhart, on 12/19/2007, -3/+2Or use a table. Tables are deprecated for the site layout, or you would have to update each separate file every time you want to change the site.
Using a table in the layout of the content of a particular page in your site is fine, since that table won't be duplicated all over the place. - sgtpppr, on 12/19/2007, -2/+2CSS Nazis are usually the ones who end up saying '***** it' and just not applying formatting at all. CSS has a lot of advantages, but for something as small and insignificant to the site as a whole (which is why they didn't bother to code all the CSS)...put some damn tables in and make it look decent. Sheesh.
- HigherLogic, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1A UL for each image set. One image in each LI. Apply a float:left on the LI and a clear:both on the ULs. Simple and less code than a table.
- rarson, on 12/19/2007, -1/+29Or at least put the before pictures... before.
- BossKey, on 12/19/2007, -1/+16Better than side-by-side is when they superimpose them on top of each other and you can see the difference by clicking on it or with a mouseover.
- Urusai, on 12/19/2007, -2/+6Without using a table? Pretty hard, apparently, judging from all the CSS tutorials.

- mcmlxxii, on 12/18/2007, -3/+10There must be a good reason why they bother, but IMHO I much prefer all the "before" shots, save for where the white balance/exposure was way out. Real women ftw!
- xxTazxx, on 12/18/2007, -3/+6The last girl is actually still extremely hot without the photoshopping. Notice also how the 4th-from-last model has anorexic looking arms, and they are then plumped out in the 'Shopped picture. Says a lot about the fashion business.
- leif77, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1model or actress... i think julia stiles is actually a great actress... but thats not the point... she doesnt have much to do with the fashion business.

- beerbarron, on 12/18/2007, -0/+15Allot of this comes down to A) poor makeup B) poor lighting. Photoshop really doesnt need to be used to the extent it is used, if people prepared better! Trust me as I am a photographer that prepares! Photoshop should be used for the following areas in fashion photography, batch colour balance, batch, levels. Also if the person has been in an accident and you need to disguise a scar. Thats it
- dagamer34, on 12/18/2007, -1/+4Yay, Barbie dolls!

- TheChadwick, on 12/18/2007, -29/+3Mirror NSFW version: http://www2girls1cup.com
- jazzboyrules, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5But that's original, no Photoshop involved.
- Nesh, on 12/18/2007, -0/+9Is it lonely being you?
- anononon, on 12/18/2007, -0/+9Did you honestly think anybody would fall for that?
- jazzboyrules, on 12/19/2007, -2/+1We all are diggducated.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Is that picture before or after?
/sarcasm
- pixelguru, on 12/18/2007, -0/+14I was surprised to see that in at least a couple of the images, they retouched the model's arms to look BIGGER than real life. Maybe they're finally catching on that healthy people are much more attractive than the starving.
- Karmavs, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1They've always done that — skinny bodies look 'sexy', skinny arms look weak.
- s0nicfreak, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1Personally I find weakness to be sexy, but I'm weird.
- Karmavs, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1They've always done that — skinny bodies look 'sexy', skinny arms look weak.
- slothlovechunk, on 12/18/2007, -0/+4Some of them look ridiculous when you take away their freckles.
- TinFoil209, on 12/18/2007, -0/+8Are you sure its not "After and Before"? Looks like some took a photoshop pic and ruined it with their lame filters. The older lady has way more wrinkle lines in the 2nd pic.
- kylejn, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Yeah, it's gotta be "After and Before."
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -2/+17Man.. Penelope Cruz is amazing.
- leexy, on 12/19/2007, -3/+1You figured that out on you own?
- KayIslandDrunk, on 12/19/2007, -5/+1.....after the photoshop you mean. As well as all the other celebs. The more they look like normal people, the less I want to fantasize about them.
- batista86, on 12/18/2007, -2/+27Note: I would bang Eva Longoria before or after....or anytime for that matter.
- scooterfish, on 12/19/2007, -1/+3***** to that.
- frieddonuts, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2I think that is the opposite of what he was saying- the word ***** just adds so many layers of meaning.
- stfucupcake, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1but don't you think it's kind of wierd how she has this grown up face on an almost too small body? wierd
- renagadex2, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2i before e except after c
- amphoterous, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Before AND after?
- Marcsib, on 12/19/2007, -1/+0The touch up you dunce
- scooterfish, on 12/19/2007, -1/+3***** to that.
- Hyperion1144, on 12/18/2007, -3/+20Kelly Clarkson, Julie Stiles, and Katherine Heigl are all so hot they didn't get touched up, just color-corrected. Real hotties don't need Photoshop!
- ispellkonfusion, on 12/19/2007, -1/+4Check Kelly Clarkson's thighs. Then we'll talk.
- plastree, on 12/19/2007, -1/+4Yea, you might want to wipe your eyes a bit. Kelly's butt shrink was the most dramatic change in the set.
- Rammsteined, on 12/19/2007, -1/+7I like her arse, as it was.
- theantidote, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Katherine Heigl's waist got thinner too I think. She really doesn't need it at all though.
- BattleChimp, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1i dont find kelly clarkson attractive. i think its because shes american idol spawn =/
i think they raised her boobays a little too - reclusiveraider, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1don't forget about Naomi Watts.
shes gorgeous no matter what.
- theratdotus, on 12/18/2007, -1/+9image retouching should be illegal, especially in the cosmetics sector... or they must put a disclaimer that image retouching was used.... who wants to start a class action lawsuit with me?
- Karmavs, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Is there really a reason to put a disclaimer? Is it not the default? And those who do not use retouching are quick to tell people.
Also - retouching has neccesary and useful purposes. Maybe we can just ban the clone tool
- Karmavs, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Is there really a reason to put a disclaimer? Is it not the default? And those who do not use retouching are quick to tell people.
- Immune, on 12/18/2007, -1/+9Erm, After and Before?
- provost, on 12/18/2007, -1/+19turns out they are just as ugly as the rest of us.
- zspeed78, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3I think theyre uglier... thats some horrible skin on most of them.
- s0nicfreak, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Either it's the fact that the photographers are using high definition cameras that pick up the pores, or it's a result of constantly wearing makeup...
- spaceman84, on 12/19/2007, -2/+6No, you're still much uglier than they are.
- provost, on 12/19/2007, -3/+2ok.. i laughed but still had to dig you down for the insult.. sorry
- kingmanic, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1It's hollywood! It's not how pretty you are but who you sleep with and what sex acts your willing to do!
- zspeed78, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3I think theyre uglier... thats some horrible skin on most of them.
- Trollmaster, on 12/18/2007, -8/+6shopped
- spaceman84, on 12/19/2007, -4/+1o rly
- r3negadeX, on 08/11/2008, -1/+6The first thing I did when this page loaded was hit ctrl + F, and searched for the words "photoshopped" and "shopped", so I could bury that comment and insult the poster. So...***** you.
- Trollmaster, on 12/19/2007, -1/+3my job is done here :)
- mikhon, on 12/18/2007, -5/+2i wonder which pictures are before and which are after...
- Dhalgren, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4The Afters are before and the Befores are after.
- mrgono3, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1cant u tell?
- Sebbah, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5Most of them are color enhancement though!
- graeh, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1agreed - half of them are to make up for the crappy colour of digital cameras over oldschool slide film.
- ZenMojo, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1So...basically, they smoothed out complexions, smoothed down bone structure, and added two inches to Katherine Heigl's bust size. BFD.
And I have to say, getting rid of Cameron Diaz's "belly fat" was actually the removal of her stomach definition. Why would you get rid of the muscle in her stomach and leave in the (slightly) protruding hipbones? That's just retarded. -
