- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -5/+233If he was smart he would think up some jokes on his own.
- Mandeep, on 10/12/2007, -3/+103Haha, Ari is the man for calling up and saying what he did. The radio hosts are awesome for letting all this happen too.
- dominasian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+100hes making me laugh right now but for the wrong reason
- gmprunner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+95That he stole.
- CocoaPuffs23, on 10/12/2007, -7/+73If he were smart, he wouldn't steal material.
- Pensador, on 10/12/2007, -3/+50Mencia Steals from Cosby?

- cwshea, on 10/12/2007, -5/+43See the little "reply" button?
Yeah... - walkngonawire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37Look at me! I'm Mexican! I mow lawns! rofl rofl rofl.
What, that wasn't funny?
I guess I'm too edgy for you!
-my impression of mencia. - zlintux, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33I think that's kind of the point.
If Mencia started stealing from Jerry Seinfeld or something, people would then really notice. It's not like you have to be some world-renowned comedian to come up with a decent joke. Even if you follow the business closely, it probably means dick-all if you haven't heard of someone. Simple fact is he steals, he denies it, and just because he has a show on Comedy Central doesn't put him in the right.
The other advantage from stealing from nobodies is because of how difficult it is for them to bring you to court. - noobieee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31I'm so tired of hearing about this guy stealing. Comedy Central - listen up - GROW A PAIR AND STAND UP FOR ARTISTS RIGHTS - *FIRE MENSTEALIA*
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27hey now...no need to drag scrubs into this
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25So Cosby is a nobody?
Better read up before you open your mouth. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27This just in: democracysucks is Carlos' mom
- jmazzi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25@johnlandes
Actually, he got caught trying to steal Seaworld. - CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21I think that boarder fence joke is way too generic to accuse nyone of ripping off however. A better example of him stealing is the material he took form Bill Cosby.
- LACHRYMIST, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21If you were smart, you would've figured that out.
- johnlandes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21He had to leave Seaworld after eating all of the fish

http://how-to-spell-ridiculous.com/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20I watched Carlos Mencia on Comedy Central way before he got his show... The only thing he knew how to do was make jokes about people because of their race, skin color, location, etc. He used up all those jokes so he had no choice but to steal if he wanted his show to last because we all know that he has no real talent. I just don't watch him anymore because he's boring now with all his old "beaner" and "you live in ***** tornado ally, you hillbilly!" jokes.
Here's to you, Carlos! Dee dee dee! - AppleTamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Yea, those Hondurans/Germans... You know how it is with them...
- ho0ber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15"I got famous by being funny."
Does anyone else just find him annoying? I've never found him funny. - CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15If he was smart he would stop giving the situation publicity by responding to the (as far as I can tell credible) accusations, which apparently is what he is now doing.
- amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13SlvrEagle23: But Ned Holness(aka Carlos Mencia) is a dumbass, so he's got to steal from the smart asses.
- krakkinem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13goddamn, I miss Chappelle's Show. It hurts even more every time I hear this hack Mencia's name brought up.
It's like having steak for dinner every night, but then having it replaced with Taco Bell nachos. - dhVyse, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19This isn't the first time he's stolen someones material.. One week after he was on a local radio show down here in florida (The Paul and Young Ron Show) there was another comedian who said his jokes were stolen as well. And a couple days later Joe Rogan was explaining his story as well.
The dude isn't even MEXICAN yet he says he is! It's rediculous!
I used to listen to his old stuff a long time ago(standup) and it was sometimes funny but he always went on tirades in the middle lecturing people how to live etc.. Just not what I wanted to hear from a stand up comedian, so its not like his original stuff was even THAT good.
And his TV show is just terrible. - Zarile3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13He steals everyones stuff, he is an ass. I thought he was funny too, then found out he was stealing stuff, what a dumbass.
- habubu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I thought he was funny until I watched his show.
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12It's not like his stealing needs to be proven any further at this point. It's just a given now.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Damn Cosby too Carlos is really getting bad with this shyt
- Meowbiusfox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Both are ultimately lame compared to Bill Hicks,
Digg me down - k0rd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I'd rather hear a dog tell a joke then Mencia, at least the dog is original.
- nomadxx7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I love how Ned touts how only he can tell Mexican jokes yet he isn't even Mexican. I give props to Rogan for bringing this ***** up and for Ari calling in to stop this *****.
@parax
Yeah but you can't tell people that you're entitled to tell Mexican jokes even though you're not Mexican. - inotocracy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Damn, that was the same exact joke. Ass.
- kabewm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12For once I'd like to see Ari or Rogan bring up a different joke. This 'whose gonna build the fence' is so easy. I know when I first heard the news about the fence I came up with this joke and told my friends, doesn't mean Ari stole it from me.
Seriously guys, this one was too simple. If his stealing is so pervasive, bring it Ari.
Truth be told I lost a lot of respect for Mencia as a comedian after I saw the Cosby/Kinison footage. Those seem to be clear cut joke thiefing. Ari and his fence joke just seem like he's trying to jump on the hate Mencia bandwagon. - dhVyse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Carlos Mencia is owned once again.
His show should be canceled.
Let the dig downs begin! - XTX7X, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10A little ironic that when it comes to an issue such as piracy "intellectual rights" mean nothing on digg.. but as soon as someone steals a *joke*, the whole crowd is in an uproar..
- madfusion15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8carlos mencia is a puto
- stevealford, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9One joke in a 30 minutes show you say? George Lopez hunted down Carlos and choked him (not hard enough apparently) because he did THIRTEEN consecutive minutes of his material on an HBO special. That's not taking an idea, a concept, a punchline or a single joke... that's taking 13 straight minutes of someone else's act and pretending it's your own material in front of a massive audience on an internationally broadcast cable special. Perhaps you should find out why people are pissed before you defend him, you ***** moron.
- DyDx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@democracysucks: Joe Rogan isn't purely a comedian, he does lots of other stuff. He may not be as big as Mencia, but I bet he's happy, and he doesn't have a guilty conscious.
As for you.. why would you defend Mencia at all, having admitted yourself that he steals a lot of jokes? Besides the fact that I think he is a talentless hack and extremely unfunny, even if he were a talented performer that is never an excuse for plagiarism. That's some low *****. - jarinudom, on 03/31/2008, -2/+9I've seen Joe Rogan's act in person, and he's hilarious. Nice guy too, sits around and BSes with people afterwards.
Ari's a little extreme sometimes, but he's pretty funny too. - stevealford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7darkreign, please keep in mind that the guy's name here is MewtwoReturns... how the ***** could you expect him to say anything worth reading? Now we'll move forward to my solution. Because of my stance on copyright and intellectual property, I believe that anyone has the right to use someone else's material, HOWEVER the person being stolen from has the right to beat the fresh steaming ***** out of the stealing party if they profitted from his material and if they can prove that they performed the material first. This should be written into law for all public performances of non-copyrighted work such as standup. Joe Rogan is correct that Hollywood eats its young, but I bet Nedlos would definitely stop stealing from the young comedians after a few legally-sanctioned severe beatdowns.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Are you really that ***** stupid? That's like saying, "he was smart enough to only murder bums with no families, that way he can't be caught.". Dumbass.
- stevealford, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Just because Lopez is a ***** comedian (I agree), that doesn't mean Carlos didn't steal his material. So what if Carlos did it better? That's not the issue. We aren't debating who has better delivery, we're talking about the fact that Carlos took other people's jokes, bits, and routines. End of discussion. To mention that Lopez isn't funny only diverts the attention from the real issue. I guess that's what you do when someone proves you wrong... change the subject.
- someotherdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Love the way the host finishes with '...and that was Carlos Menstealer, I'm sorry, Ned, no uh, Carlos Mencia' Classic
Anyone know what the song was that was just starting to play as the clip finished? - standby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7People steal concepts and ideas. Carlos steals entire jokes and doesn't even bother to change the punch line... he just throws in a few cuss words and racial slangs and is immediately deemed as ground breaking funny.
- nomadxx7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@edam
Maybe they were holding a little faith in Mencia until Ari really pointed out the facts. - xxHAYABUSAxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6ok,whatever you say "MewTwoReturns" ...im surprised your parents even let you watch carlos mencia!
- fcdsbh07, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I was actually listening to the show when this all went down. Carlos Mencia called the show back about 15 minutes after the confrontation, and had a nauseating conversation about how he's just so "totally above" that stuff Ari just did, and how he thinks this is all happening because he is so famous.
He actually said "I really wish Ari would become MORE famous than I am right now, so that I can give him a call and hear him tell me about all the people who are out to get him now." Mencia's excuse for stealing the Mexican border joke was that it was "so obvious" that the joke practically wrote itself. Well, if by "practically", you mean "someone else." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Burn!
