- doublefelix, on 02/08/2009, -4/+257Dear fellas, I can't believe how fast things move on the outside. I saw an automobile once when I was a kid, but now they're everywhere. The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry. The parole board got me into this halfway house called "The Brewer" and a job bagging groceries at the Foodway. It's hard work and I try to keep up, but my hands hurt most of the time. I don't think the store manager likes me very much. Sometimes after work, I go to the park and feed the birds. I keep thinking Jake might just show up and say hello, but he never does. I hope wherever he is, he's okay and makin' new friends. I have trouble sleepin' at night. I have bad dreams like I'm falling. I wake up scared. Sometimes it takes me a while to remember where I am. Maybe I should get me a gun, an, an rob the Foodway so they'd send me home. I could shoot the manager while I was at it, sort of like a bonus. I guess I'm too old for that sort of nonsense any more. I don't like it here. I'm tired of being afraid all the time. I've decided not to stay. I doubt they'll kick up any fuss. Not for an old crook like me.
- chaos7, on 02/07/2009, -5/+151the shawshank redemption is such a great movie
- resolva, on 02/07/2009, -2/+122Huge loss :( What an awesome actor in the Shawshank Redemption
- UnpossibIe, on 02/08/2009, -2/+84For me, this was by far the most heart breaking part of the movie. I've always wanted to jump through the screen and help him out when I saw this scene. He did an amazing job making the audience feel for an old, down and out ex-con.
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -4/+66Say hello to Bernie Mac and Paul Newman for me.

- Dreadan, on 02/08/2009, -2/+47Nice title
- TheVoxHumanus, on 02/08/2009, -0/+41Well, hey. Everybody's gotta die, but not many people get to be in films that will surely still be watched and studied 100 years from now.
He held up a part of the movie that would have otherwise been a drag on the rest of it.
At least we'll always have Shawshank! - dudestuff, on 02/08/2009, -0/+37get busy learning how to spell words.
- IphtashuFitz, on 02/08/2009, -0/+35Shawshank was an absolutely amazing movie, and he was absolutely incredible in it. I'll miss Brooks. I'm sure Jake will miss him too.
- Freakboy380, on 02/08/2009, -2/+31I cried like a baby during that scene... And I will cry like a baby again when I rewatch it.
- DredPir8Robrts, on 02/08/2009, -0/+24"Are... are you gonna eat that?"

- diggapleeeze, on 02/08/2009, -2/+17That's it. I'm buying this on Blu-Ray tomorrow.
- Gr1nch, on 02/08/2009, -0/+15I think he was in the mob as a kid and then got the wrap for something in the chain. Sent him to prison at like age 19 or something. He was there his whole life. Hence, when he got out, he was like a newborn child, the "real world" was alien to him, and he wanted to go home.
Movie is so freaking good, on so many levels. My heart cried for him when I read that. And Morgan Freeman did NOTHING to help that situation.
I need to rent that again. - JDex, on 02/08/2009, -1/+14Cripes! I just watched Shawshank today for the first time in years. I think I'll pass on watching a movie tomorrow and instead watch hours of Sean Hannity clips hoping for a like effect.
- ryndemers, on 02/08/2009, -7/+16get busy living, or get busy dieing

- fr0ng, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3Wow, and I just watched Shawshank last night...
- Rogor, on 02/08/2009, -1/+4Do we know what his Shawshank character did to get life in prison?
- tillerman00, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3"I doubt they'll kick up any fuss, not for an old crook like me."
- Albumen, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3Too true. Stephen King can write like a MF when he's inspired. His short stories are legitimately really good.
- F34RInc, on 02/08/2009, -1/+4Maybe I should get me a gun, an, an rob the Foodway so they'd send me home. I could shoot the manager while I was at it, sort of like a bonus.
- btour99, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3Do we even know who the ***** is bad or good on that damn show yet? Its a stretched out mind *****.
- sciencemandan, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3...and so was Red.
- bonjourmr, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3RIP to a great actor.
- inactive, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3There wasn't one time I saw him on the screen when I wasn't glad he was there.
- Neiby, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3Yep. The very first thing I thought of when I heard that he was dead was, "Brooks was here."
- schavira, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2One of the saddest scenes in cinema, rest in peace
- albatrossSKY, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2sad to see him go
- ragez, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2Aw! another one bites the dust. I don't care much for celebrates in general but there are a few gems like James that I wish would stick around :(
- Dabek, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2Why do you think he needs more money anyway, he was a very successful actor, and if you read the article, you'll know that he didn't earn the money to live a life of luxury, he did it so he could support his family, which I think is much more noble than what all of these new celebrities are doing. *cough* Justin Timberlake *cough*
Besides he was 87, no one lives forever, and he wasn't acting as of late anyway, he just retired and sat around to enjoy his family. Because really, isn't that what getting old is all about? -
