He struck me as just having developed an incredibly vivid imagination, likely in response to all that upheaval in his youth that he won't admit was on the unstable side. That kind of imagination works well for his career and makes him a bit odd in real life, but I like odd.
It would be strange (not unheard of, but uncommon) for him to develop major addictions at 34 years of age. I think his overactive imagination *is* his drug.

- Jarden, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1What I found amazing was how fast he bulked up again afterwards. His very next film was Batman Begins, which he was relatively ripped for. He went from a 121 lb skeleton to what looks like a 180 lb lump of muscle in something like 8 months.

I mean at one point he talks about how he can no longer tell which of his childhood memories were movies and which ones were real. At another he talks about how he willingly took a role that he thought could be career suicide... with no backup plan. Then he admits to lying about his family history... and gives what has to be the most incoherent reason for it I've ever seen... To top it all off he claims to not be aware of when his life is in mortal danger cause he has a sense of invulnerability when acting...
I'm gonna go ahead and predict Bale's decent into self destructive drug and alcohol abuse now... if not that hes gonna kill himself in the middle of a scene where he supposed to be acting out a character killing himself...

Bale is a great actor though (loved The Prestige), handsome, and a little off-beat, all great qualities in my book - so I will definitely be renting the first and seeing the next. For Heath too of course - RIP.
