No talent; simply a freakshow that the record label figured would sell a bunch of albums because we all love to watch a train wreck. And of course, they're right. Here we are digging about her... people buying tickets to shows... ffs. Everyone in this equation is being manipulated by promoters and labels, and that includes the performer(?) herself. So whether you approach it from the angle "aww, poor girl, I wish I could help her" or "WTF am I listening to this crackhead for?".... the proper response is the same: don't buy the music, don't go to the shows, and don't buy the tabloid or promote the links.

- deskimo, on 06/30/2008, -1/+7With the type of press Winehouse has been getting lately, I'm starting to think that her "trainwreck" rep is half grounded in her real-life neuroses and addictions and half a marketing tool. She's made an entire career off of being a drug-addled, tragically trashy hipster who happens to have an incredible singing voice. While I have no doubt she has a real drug problem, the more we spread sensationalist footage of Amy Winehouse/Paris Hilton/Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan(a foursome of which Winehouse is by far the most talented) acting out, the more we appear to approve of their behavior and give them an excuse to put off getting proper help.
