- Thunderballs, on 04/15/2009, -1/+24The ad was meant as an homage. American Apparel CEO Dov Charney learned everything he knows about sleeping with teenage girls from Woody Allen.

- bicyclethief, on 04/15/2009, -0/+18I like American Apparel stuff but I don't know what they're arguing against. They used his image in an ad. Case closed. Pay the man.
girl at party: my therapist says I'm not having the right kind of orgasms

Crazy argument. I wonder if it will work. - ninjasandshiz, on 04/15/2009, -1/+11wearing American Apparel while reading that article felt kinda awkward.
- rudezombie, on 04/15/2009, -1/+10Except Soon Yi was 22 years old at the time. Creepy & inappropriate? Yeah. Pedophilia? Not so much.
- odetonarwhal, on 04/15/2009, -1/+10***** that company and ***** Dov Charney. A girl I went to high school with (who is no older than 19 now) started working a retail position in one of the stores in Hollywood when she was 16. Dov Charney walks in one day and invites her and her friends to his apartment one night and they agreed to masturbate in front of him. She is now one of the main models you see in American Apparel ads (I'm not going to name drop, sorry).
Seriously though, why is this guy not in prison yet? It's really no secret he sleeps with under aged girls. - bigthree, on 04/15/2009, -2/+10They do say sell to your target audience. Guys buying these clothes are in high school and want to have sex with teenage girls. Woody Allen got half of that combination right....the important half!
- robosexy, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7This is *****. Whatever Woody Allen is, he isn't a sellout. He doesn't want to be associated with cheap advertising. That's what the lawsuit is about, not his gereral character.
- phantasm000, on 04/15/2009, -2/+9what is everyone's beef with American Apparel? there is no logos so you aren't a walking bilboard.. The clothes are all made in the united states, no sweatshops invovled; granted it can be pricey sometimes but there are some good sales from time to time on stuff. plenty of decent clothes that do not scream hipster.
- Jensaarai, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7Publicity stunt by AA. This case will settle for about as much as it would have cost to pay the man in the first place, with 10x the media exposure. Also, at least a few douchebags will think this argument makes them "edgy." I'm sure some young VP of marketing is getting a nice bonus check for this.
- trer, on 04/15/2009, -1/+8I don't know what Woody Allen was thinking but if I had a choice between Diane Keaton and Soon Yi, I'm going Diane Keaton all the way. Diane Keaton still looks great today while Soon Yi...never did.
- strangerzero, on 04/15/2009, -1/+7He did nothing illegal that we know of.
- morgens2, on 04/15/2009, -3/+9Their t-shirts and sweatshirts are actually pretty good clothing and decently priced. ***** that unitard and other hipster ***** though.
- armourer, on 04/15/2009, -1/+7you think AA clothes are baggy? Really? The company that sells men's jeans in a size 26?
- smeatish, on 04/15/2009, -1/+7Yes
- dijkstra22, on 04/16/2009, -0/+6Bull, she wasn't HIS adopted child. He never adopted her and the met when she was 18. Criticize if you wish, but criticize based on facts.

- yocouchdigga, on 04/15/2009, -1/+6sign me up.
- shibbyo, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5She was not his adopted child. She was Mia Farrow's adopted child. They were never married and Allen never adopted her. I'm not saying that I agree morally with their relationship, but it is definitely moral enough to not be any of our business.
- immatellyouwhat, on 04/15/2009, -4/+9American Apparel has the ***** clothes I've ever seen at their prices. Hey you wanna thin grey hoodie just like Hanes? That'll be $60.
- shibbyo, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4I don't understand the point of the original ad. Here's a picture of Woody Allen dressed as a Rabbi in Annie Hall, buy our ***** clothes? Was it part of a series of ads that make more sense in context?
- andrespereyda, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4love it
- mediaphile, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4Your friend is a slut.
On the other hand, everyone got what they wanted. Sounds like a win-win situation to me. - Colony, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4If a guy wants to marry an Asian chick less than half his age, then more power to him.
- phantasm000, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3lets do some research shall we?

game, set and match. - Logicwax, on 04/16/2009, -1/+4if you count right next to Mexico (but technically in the US), with mexican workers "made in america"....
c'mon, it's still out sourcing. they found a loophole. - adamchristopher, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3hmm. didn't know dave chappelle was on digg.
- adamchristopher, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3hmm. didn't know mos def was on digg.
- Hetman, on 04/15/2009, -2/+5It is not that she is young. I mean what is the point of being a rich old man if you cannot pick up 18 year old hotties. The thing that is messed up is it was his adopted child.
- solecize, on 04/15/2009, -1/+4What is this and why is it "in quotes"?
- nazsco, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3Is dressing like a hassid jew hipster now?
- rendus688, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3Not that pricey if you go to places like trendyblanks and get the wholesale pricing. Amazon has the same deal.
- fowleryo, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3i mean, their shirts are decent... but $22 or whatever for a blank shirt? ughh
- poxonyou, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3Way overpriced really. They were cheaper at first, until they became the defacto brand for rich fashion kids. H&M sells better clothes and cheaper, except they're a Swedish brand and the clothes aren't made in the US. I doubt 99% of the AA buying people care about that anymore as being radically left stopped being cool around 2002. Their clothes are also brandless, and if you're a hipster, you can feel special you're wearing a brandless brand that far less people know about or have access to in the US. AA is a bit played out.
- BonhamsGhost, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3Are you talking about Woody Allen or Dov Charney?
- VinceMancini, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3Thanks for sharing, I bet you're a hit a parties.
- mikexr, on 04/15/2009, -2/+5As much as I despise American Apparel, and as much as Woody Allen is a borderline sexual deviant who's become a complete hack in the last decade or so, this is just ***** stupid. They used his likeness in an advertisement endorsing their clothing line without his permission and without paying him, and that's inexcusable. Why the ***** else would they release a statement detailing the extent of their strategy for a horrendously unrelated defense in court? The ad itself doesn't even make sense -- it basically just exists because they foresaw this lawsuit taking place and wanted to invest in being that "hip, edgy" company yet again. This is just as much a publicity stunt as those naked flash ads they plaster the web with.
- VinceMancini, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3My beef are girls from Brooklyn wearing some godawful 80s jazzersize onesies or stretch pants up to their belly button - not so much blank hoodies, which are overpriced, but not rage inducing.
- poxonyou, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3Wholesale? How? I agree American brand alternatives (Hanes) suck, but H&M is usually better and cheaper.
- VinceMancini, on 04/15/2009, -1/+3Boosh.
- evergrim, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2http://judicial-inc.biz/woody_allen_with_mia_farro ...
Good run down of the child sex abuse / incest that Woody Allen was involved in. - penmaster, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2I hope Woody Allen wins big!
http://www.locatealawyer.com - PrettyGreen, on 04/15/2009, -5/+7I'm begging to be punched for wearing a comfy black hoodie?
- ShamanSTK, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2the sign doesn't make any sense... the yiddish says "the holy rabbi"
- odetonarwhal, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2She ain't my friend.
- Logicwax, on 04/16/2009, -1/+3"On May 1, 2002 American Apparel shut down its factory to allow the company's workers, many of whom are immigrants, to participate in a pro-immigration rally in downtown Los Angeles."
Sure they are all legal.....suuure.. - Chapman9110, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2I don't often resort to blind discrimination, however, if you don't like Woody Allen, then ***** you.
- anteup, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2+ sadly, they're the only place I know of that stock clothes that fit gangly females. Their mens XS are a life saver. =/ Perfect length, perfect fit.
Womens "tall" sizes almost always fit horribly on top of not being long enough. -
