- Zarimus, on 03/16/2009, -4/+27Anyone willing to play himself as the villain "Ron Silver" in "Heat Vision and Jack" is okay by me. RIP.
- clickmyface, on 03/16/2009, -3/+18Man, he was really, really amazing in The West Wing. He was only in about 20 episodes, but he was vital in shaping the entire series that become so wonderful. Pretty cool to learn that he really was big into politics. It definitely came through on screen, and it's wonderful that he got to combine the things he loved (acting and politics) into a superbly casted role.
- TheCooler72, on 03/16/2009, -1/+12Wow. Are you actually saying that his death of cancer is somehow tied to his political views?
That may be the farthest I have ever seen political trollery go. - wtrwlkr, on 03/16/2009, -3/+14To be fair, Tanbo wasn't the first person to bring in the political *****. That was done by the submitter as evidenced by the article description. But i'll agree, democrat or republican, RIP.
- STBAT25, on 03/16/2009, -3/+13He was good as Alan Dershowitz in Reversal of Fortune. R.I.P.
- orlyfactor, on 03/16/2009, -5/+14I didn't agree with that political move either, but everyone dies, liberal and neo-con alike. Your remark is really ridiculous.
- matthasaproblem, on 03/16/2009, -5/+14What, no mention of him as Senator Aaron McComb in Timecop? Even in death he's ashamed of that role...
- RealmDown, on 03/16/2009, -0/+7Yes, the marvelously cast villain, Senator McCombs.
- jtucker65, on 03/16/2009, -1/+7and on the West Wing.
- boozedrinker, on 03/16/2009, -1/+7My dad also has esophageal cancer - seeing stuff like this sucks :-(
- nesagwa, on 03/16/2009, -2/+8The first half of that obituary focused on his politics. Why shouldnt we talk about it?
- raynar, on 03/16/2009, -0/+5is that the Timecop guy?
- Paranor01, on 03/16/2009, -2/+7Well, wasn't great but ok.
- xXGrimreapaXx, on 03/16/2009, -6/+11I don't know who that is. But R.I.P.
- Tanbo, on 03/16/2009, -2/+7While we are at it, why not also remember him for his great work as an adviser to the Lewis Libby Legal Defense Trust?
- mlvassallo, on 03/16/2009, -2/+662 is awful young to die "peacefully" in your sleep...
- jetboyterp, on 03/16/2009, -0/+4In real life, Silver was a life-long liberal Democrat...but switched to Republican after the 9/11 attacks.
- solid12345, on 03/16/2009, -3/+7Likewise, US has experienced a normal recession just like every other decade or two, i'm becoming a Democrat
WTF is up with that! - Spoomeister, on 03/16/2009, -1/+5And here I was glad that the Ron Silver Show got dropped from the XM "POTUS" channel, changing back to The Morning Briefing. I didn't realize it was for a sad reason.
- kinologik, on 03/16/2009, -2/+5I will watch this in continual loop today... RIP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPaXZ5ow_q8 - krahzee, on 03/16/2009, -0/+3Best wishes there. Sincerely. Cancer is horrible.
- richirwin, on 03/16/2009, -2/+5A good actor who played in a LOT of really bad movies.
He never got his due. - fzammetti, on 03/16/2009, -1/+4I knew who he was just by name... He was a good actor, loved him on West Wing... for me though, he'll always be the bad alien in The Arrival. Whether that's a good thing or not is a debate I have with myself frequently :)
RIP of course... and the poster that 62 is way too young to die peacefully in your sleep I dugg up... 62 is too young to die PERIOD. - Angostura, on 03/16/2009, -1/+4Indeed. And in the West Wing he "changed sides" to advise the Repuplican candidate senator Vinick in the last series.
He was good. RIP. - Kazakaz, on 03/16/2009, -0/+3I loved Timecop!
- inactive, on 03/16/2009, -0/+2He did a lot of stage work, too.
- solid12345, on 03/16/2009, -0/+2Wish I could go back in time and machinegun a dozen confederate soldiers for their gold.
- marinesniper01, on 03/16/2009, -1/+3Yea, what kind of complete moron would support taking Hussein out of power so he couldn't keep killing millions of his own people. I mean, I know I would absolutely love to be run through a plastic shredder while still alive. What an *****!
I didn't know if you were smart enough to catch my sarcasm there, so I'm makingsure you did here. - StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -2/+4Now we'll never see a full series :(
- markgl, on 03/16/2009, -0/+2How dare you make fun of Timecop! Jean Claude will find you and put the wrath of kumate on you!
- ZzFDKzZ, on 03/16/2009, -1/+3R.I.P.
- shakabrah, on 03/16/2009, -2/+4dugg for The West Wing
- Akaziel, on 03/16/2009, -0/+2Wow, and I thought I'd be the only person to come in and mention that. Kudos, my friend.
Vincent Schiavelli died in 2005. He was in that pilot too. I don't know what relevance that has to this story, but...there you go. - jschrab, on 03/16/2009, -0/+2Ben Stiller said “I grew up with Ron, my Mom was on Rhoda with him and he was always nice to me.” - via RobSchrab.com
- DevilInPgh, on 03/16/2009, -0/+2HIS FATHER'S THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY!!!!!
- MagnaCarta, on 03/17/2009, -0/+2A good tribute to Ron Silver.

- loudnobnoxious, on 03/16/2009, -0/+2R.I.P. to a fine man.
If anyone is interested in contributing computing power to cancer research: folding.stanford.edu - boozedrinker, on 03/16/2009, -0/+1Thank you very much. We're fighting the good fight!!!
- jsffive, on 03/16/2009, -1/+2How many self-proclaimed "liberals" turned tail and ran straight to Bush when we were attacked? How many followed Mr. Silver's example, and in the end, DIDN'T really believe in the propaganda that they had been spewing at people for years?
Besides, the terms "liberal" and "conservative" were hijacked a long time ago, by the people on the "left", who were only interested in buying votes with the promise of more entitlement programs, and by the people on the "right" who were only interested in buying votes by offering tax breaks, and feeding the military machine.
"Hateful and despicable"? No, in the end, when push came to shove, that was Mr. Silver's realm. Don't piss and moan because people are pointing it out.
HE was the guy that worked for the Lewis Libby Legal Defense Trust... But that wasn't hateful and despicable...
Working to defend a guy who OUTED a CIA agent... THAT'S not hateful and despicable...
Changing sides and joining a group of people who lied this nation into a war with another nation that never attacked us, and resulted in the deaths of God-knows how many innocent people... THAT'S not "hateful and despicable"...
Exactly how would you define "hateful and despicable"?
And incidentally, I'm not a liberal or a conservative... as they are practiced today. I'm a truth-seeker... and the LIARS and ***** ARTISTS are going to get their comeuppance, no matter how uncomfortable it may make the likes of you feel. - notman, on 03/16/2009, -4/+5Wow... that was unexpected. He was definitely a good actor ... RIP
- flexiblecarter, on 03/17/2009, -0/+1Is she retarded? http://digg.com/celebrity/Owen_Benjamin_Marry_s_Ch ...
- techweenie1, on 03/16/2009, -0/+1Hmm I wonder if the media plans on writing Barbara Streisand's or Susan Sarandon's obituary so politicized like this or will they just lament their loss?
- williemain, on 03/17/2009, -0/+1Hopefully he will utilize his degree in Chinese History in heaven...
- inactive, on 03/16/2009, -0/+1Why is it that some of you are so insecure about your own belief systems and convictions that you feel the need to slam everyone who doesn't agree? I can understand having a discussion for intellectual and enlightenment purposes - but you're just being both rude and stupid. On top of which, you chose the article of him passing away to try and make a political statement.
You know, for being so "tolerable" - some of you lack the common courtesy to even be considered human beings, let alone intelligent and open-minded.
Time and place, dude. - NYDrinks, on 03/16/2009, -0/+1LOL
- inactive, on 03/16/2009, -1/+2SADDAM WILL NEVER ATTACK NYC AGAIN!!!
Right, you foxified idiot inbred nutjob zombie?
Your dumb ass is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of why these Nutjobs should not be allowed anywhere near the seat of our government. - RabidOrange, on 03/16/2009, -1/+2Season 7 of the West Wing was great in part because of what Ron brought to the series as Bruno. His was easily one the best recurring guest roles and the character, he played perfectly. RIP
- Bloyru, on 03/16/2009, -1/+2:(
- miatman, on 03/16/2009, -3/+4"The same matter cannot occupy the same space" DAMN YOU JEAN CLAUD!!
