- hollywoodphony, on 04/11/2008, -10/+33A piece of her what?
- dreamer38457, on 04/11/2008, -2/+13Holy f***. Seven pages?
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -9/+20Obama's mother.
Probably got so much ***** for raising a biracial son. Now what *****, he's about to be President. - hexydes, on 04/11/2008, -2/+12Please, please, PLEASE stop submitting political stories under other categories. I don't know if this is because some of you honestly can't tell the difference, or if you have some sort of political agenda, but there are people that have blocked political stories for a reason. I'm so tired of seeing political stories pop up under "Apple" or "Celebrity" or "Sports". I blocked political stories on Digg for a reason. If I wanted to read political stories on Digg, I would change my filters settings. I'm doing my best to ask nicely that you stop doing this, because it is EXTREMELY annoying. If you're doing it on accident, please use your best judgment in the future; if the main story revolves around a political figure, or someone related to a political figure, or what that person is doing, then it is a political story. Submit it as such. And if you are doing it simply to skate around political filters to try and press an agenda, please take a second to step away from your computer, open your front door, wait for a large truck to come down the road, and then go wait in the middle of the road. I don't want to read this anymore. As soon as I do, I will change my filter settings, but until that time, I simply ask that you don't mis-submit stories just to force others to see them on the front page.
I don't think that's too much to ask... - NoDrama, on 04/11/2008, -10/+19The article states, "In most elections, the deceased mother of a candidate in the primaries is not the subject of a magazine profile. But Ann Soetoro was not like most mothers." Nor, it should be noted, is her son like most sons - even in the U.S.A., perhaps the ONLY country where his current candidacy is possible.
- Zeinobia, on 04/11/2008, -11/+20This so beautiful , I respect this woman so much ,it is not about Obama but about how she stood against that society at that time , how she race biracial children normally
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -2/+10Digg's front page reflects the tastes of its users at large, and as such, its *very* interesting that Obama continually hits the front page in nothing but a very positive light. Instead of whining about it, why not be interested in its meaning? His immense popularity among diggers is important, and paints his candidacy in quite a profound way.
- wacomwacoff, on 04/11/2008, -4/+11No, but a story about his mother -- a white woman with a fascinating background that formed the basis of who he is as a person -- is a pretty interesting article.
But I guess it's easier to snark about it than actually read, huh? - xieodeluxed, on 04/11/2008, -4/+10Such character and strength... I can only hope that he will soon lead this nation with compassion and morality.
- scrag10, on 04/11/2008, -2/+8I don't see the resemblance... thats why they put the photo's side by side, right?
- travis1982, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6I think he meant "A Piece on Baraks Mothers", unless katharinec really does want a piece of Barak's mother, otherwise...ew.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -5/+11Michael Savage has been talking about her quite a bit. Apparently he finds it disturbing that this young white woman had a thing for black dudes. I guess republicans respond well to all the insinuations that go along with that. He occasionally speculates that Obama must feel torn between his inner racism and his love for his white mother. You gotta love crazy republicans.
- skeebadeek, on 04/11/2008, -6/+11Her story is very inspiring.
- timeshifter, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5I wish I could give your comment more than one digg! I am so sick of people pushing their political agendas on this site. I don't think it's a mistake of mis-filing the story.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5The ONLY country as in Latin America doesn't exist right?
- phunlee, on 04/11/2008, -2/+6I learned how to use the bury button. If enough people agreed with you, they'd bury these stories. Enough people DISagree with you, so these stories make it. See how that works? We want to read it. You don't. We outnumber you, so we get to read it. There's gotta be some kind of term for that.
- seraphisset, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5Have you actually read the book?
- Platypus5, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Her parents were mean to call her Stanley.
- hexydes, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3I'll be flat out honest in that I don't agree with the political views on Digg, but what I say goes far past that. People are at best mis-understanding how to use Digg, and at worst, flat-out exploiting it. I would be just as upset if people were submitting stories about "Motorsport" (another topic I have filtered out) into "Space" (a topic that I love). Obviously it has that extra little dig (no pun intended) behind it because I have to think that people could possibly be doing this on purpose, but at the end of the day, it's just really, really annoying that I have to see stories I have purposely attempted to block.
- MacEnvy, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Freudian Slip?
- Rodalli, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Holy crap. You're not even trying to hide your baseless hatred, are you?
- JimbobtheSalesm, on 04/11/2008, -4/+7You speak as if every person dislikes him because he's Black or because his middle name's Hussein. Who is the bigot here?
- hmunkey, on 04/11/2008, -2/+5...says a Ron Paul supporter. Oh, the irony!
- CowboyBebop, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3I, too, wish I could give you more than one digg. For a while I filtered out the political stories, and then for a while I took the filter out. Well, I have been back to filtering the political stories because I can't stand the political agenda by the active users here on digg. I wondered why this story made it through my filter. I wish the admins here would be pro-active on this.
- travis1982, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4Its a 7 page yawn...didn't miss anything.
- CowboyBebop, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Except for the fact that I purposely try to filter these stories out, yet ***** like the one who submitted this probably submitted it purposely in the wrong category.
- hakrzcode, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2I like raced better. Much more interesting of a picture.
- hexydes, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3I don't hate him, I have never met him, so that isn't possible. However, his political ideals are extremely distasteful to me, and as such, I will not be voting for him.
P.S. Stop submitting this drivel under categories that it does not belong in, simply to get around peoples' political filters. I don't want to read this crap on Digg, I come here for technology or other non-political news. That's fine if Digg has a political section, but it also has filters so I don't have to read this garbage. Please submit political stories such as this under the correct political section, because you're literally ruining Digg for a lot of people. - inactive, on 04/11/2008, -3/+5"We know you worship the ground he walks on. Alright, we get it!"
No, you don't really get anything at all. - inactive, on 04/11/2008, -3/+5I feel like Digging you down just for mentioning that vile piece of humanoid *****-stained trash Michael Savage. However, it's important we reveal how the Republican party has suceeded in the past 7 years because of people like him inspiring others to live their life with nothing but constant hate.
- dinot, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Maybe they'll make a 7-part television series and make it easier for you to digest.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Obamas mother is a mother to all of us! When Obama was born it is rumored that the sun broke through the skies and birds flew through the sky! The trees swayed without any wind and the Earth trembled! Obamas mother is a mother we should all have and we should tell our children that they should have had a mother like this! What a mother!
- dinot, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Maybe it doesn't do anything to help him, but calling this submission ridiculous is ridiculous. Digg has articles on people getting hit in the face with a bat, pirate ships made of popsicle sticks, pictures of a video game CD in a tray, etc.....
That word 'ridiculous'. I don't think it means what you think it means. - CowboyBebop, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2I would venture to guess that the majority of digg users are not necessarily a fan of Obama. Is it possible that they are? Sure, it is. The point is, the vast majority of people on digg that are active, i.e., they submit and or promote stories, are in fact supporters of his. I am not. Then again, I am not what you would call an active person on digg in the sense that I think in almost three years time I have submitted maybe three stories and I don't even digg that many stories. Don't forget that there are a lot of people that are in my camp and don't even have user name.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -3/+5I thought he was a radical muslim who hung around with racist preachers. Can't you freepers settle on one caricature?
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3Not me. I absolutely love right win talk radio. Nothing is more entertaining that listening to Michael Medved tap dance his ass off now that he has to get behind McCain after he spent months rooting for Huckabee and Romney. Dennis Miller isn't very good though. His jokes mostly fall flat and he talks about sports too much. And Laura Ingram is shrill and has an annoying voice.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -3/+5In all seriousness...I really hope the Obama spammers can even see how ***** ridiculous this submission is, and how it does NOTHING to help Obama.
On a side note, you ever notice that because of his ears, Obama looks like one of those stress sqeeze toys where the ears and mouth pop out when you squeeze them? - notsurewhen, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2I am an obama fan. You made me laugh. Don't die.
- CowboyBebop, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Actually I do. The people that promote stories worship him. He can do no wrong. Just as it was Ron Paul a few months ago.
- Dylson, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3(yawn) Xinfinity. Owned.
- Dylson, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2(yawn)
- Anator, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3I am no obama fan but you are an idiot. Please die.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1The stress toys are racist?
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -1/+2According to this story and Digg...that's how Obama came to be...
- x252, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1@ Hexydes
AMEN! - inactive, on 04/11/2008, -1/+2LOL!
- kazolar, on 04/11/2008, -1/+2yea mob rule
- sab0tage, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't classify it as political. I too have the politics category blocked, since as a Brit, US politics don't interest me. That said, the article was well written about an interesting and truly wonderful altruistic woman. If Barack has 1% of her sensibilities, electing him would be a fantastic step in the right direction for the US.
- Black6x, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Latin America is a country now?
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1I'm saying that in every Latin American country a black candidacy is not only possible but almost the norm.

What is Digg?
