I would hope, if not today, in the very near future we can stop this kind of divisive approach to things. Seriously, does it matter that these talented and hilarious individuals are black? One day it may be just as arbitrary to make a list of "7 Funniest Comedians with Brown Eyes" or "7 Funniest Left-handed Guys with Shaved Heads."

Pryor would be #1 stand up. Chapelle and team of writers may well have given me some of the hardest laughs and most thoughtful after laughs of anyone.

- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3I'm really a pretty old comedy connoisseur. I include that. Extreme is not the question. Political advancement is not what I'd talk about either. That is important, but not what this should be about. It's about how funny it was. The chapelle show probably wins the all time prize for all sketch comedy, black or white. I really believe that... including saturday night live, kids in the hall, whatever you would put against it. Pryor is probably in the top two for all time stand up, black or white. That would put them at one and two for black comedy. In the end, it's a matter of taste. I'm at a disadvantage here, because I'm white.

Then he went dirty. His friends told him it was professional suicide. At first, it was. But it was the world Pryor knew. He made it big, again, even bigger because he was real. He is one of my idols, I guess.
