- kayaness, on 10/15/2007, -1/+27I love how it's 'Top 6'. Who does a top 6? A Michael Jordan fan.
- vofuse, on 10/13/2007, -0/+17Google search results qualify as a "study" now?
- Puttzy, on 10/18/2007, -1/+17I don't think it should count if it is followed by any form of the words nude, naked, sex, boobs, or upskirt
- dondara, on 10/13/2007, -0/+15Strangling a dog somewhere
- muskymax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15So funny that OJ Simpson is on this list for all the wrong reasons.
- tweak567, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Why is this so surprising? He is probably the most popular athlete ever. When we was at his peak they said more people in the world knew who he was than the president.
- noots, on 10/13/2007, -0/+8partly? she sucked anus at tennis.
- Lakerat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8...or murder
- ander1dw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Thanks, Digg. I'm so used to the seeing the same articles every day that I read this as the "6 Most Popular Atheists According to Google." Imagine my surprise when they were all star athletes. And OJ.
- Rewdog, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9This person didn't try very hard, here's Athletes with more results after 2 minutes of searching:
Pele: 16,500,000 Web Results 2,120,000 Image Results
Michael Vick: 2,230,000 Web Results, 130,000 Image Results
Joe Montana: 3,410,000 Web Results, 490,000 Image Results - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Can't take that seriously when theres a short/fat pic of Tiger Woods.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9where's Vick?
- andrew47, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10i would expect Sharapova to be #1 :)
- orangekid13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6here's one that should be on the list, Allison Stokke:
http://dontcostnothing.files.wordpress.com/2007/05 ... - ronaldinho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No one outside the US cares about American football dude
- hfswagon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Michael Schumacher, 3,020,000 web | 367,000 images.
- dondara, on 10/13/2007, -1/+6http://www.google.com/search?q=Liembo's%20underpan ...
- luckyllama, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5To get the 6 most popular athletes, you'd have to distinguish between searches. Some of those, like OJ Simpson, aren't being searched solely because of their athletics but their after athletics activities. Others, like Anna Kournikova, are partly being searched of for pictures and not athletic prowess.
- RobRobRob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I wonder if they include image searches in the totals?
- dl27, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4And what about John Smith the baseball player or the football player, it brings up a whopping 255,000,000 hits.
My point is that Google searches don't prove anything. - Rewdog, on 10/13/2007, -0/+4Oops, Good point.
- hellyes, on 10/13/2007, -0/+4He's referring to OJ's recent arrest, OJ was caught on tape screaming "you think you can steal my *****?!"
- ryanwarnersteel, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Michael Jordan KILLS, no other basketball player can match half of that *****.
- dl27, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Tony Hawk 3,550,000 web, 498,000 images
- charityjustice, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7"Most searched" does not equal "most popular"
- skillfull, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Tony+Hawk% ... Results 1 - 10 of about 2,270,000 for "Tony Hawk"
- Lakerat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4i

iT - skillfull, on 10/13/2007, -0/+3you forgot the quotes
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Joe+Montan ... 878,000
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Michael+Vi ... 2,080,000
but yeah Pelé is bigger
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22pel%C3%A9% ... 3,080,000 - br0ck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Here are the players from FIFA's 207 short list of player of the year candidates that beat #6 in the list: Ronaldinho 3,530,000, Messi 3,400,000, Kaka 2,990,000, Robinho 2,820,000, Riquelme 2,460,000, and "cristiano ronaldo" with 2,310,000. Zidane retired but he still nets 3,570,000 hits.
- speedk0re, on 10/13/2007, -1/+4she'd kick your ass at it
- noots, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3let's not split hairs, out of the 2440000 results about 5 of those were tennis related, and those were just the people who had to find out how to spell her name properly.
- Mearn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"This is a list of the most popular athletes according to Google.com web search results. The popularity of the athletes below was calculated by simply entering “athlete name” into Google.com and ranking the search results."
RTFA - Rewdog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Although a horrible person, OJ Simpson was one of the best football players ever:
Pro Football Hall of Fame
6 Pro Bowls, Pro Bowl MVP
NFL MVP
3 AFC Player of the year
College Football Hall of fame
Heisman Trophy
Maxwell Award - Rukaribe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3lol
- dema, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2The president of the world? I doubt that.
- Almightymole, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2And Monty!
- sleeknerve, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2anna kournakovas an athelte? never knew that
- heathuff23, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Wow! You created a new account because people reported you...Quit spamming your *****
Click here and click on his comments to bury him as offensive...get this trash out of here:
http://digg.com/users/jordanshoes - fishbert, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"pele" turns up results for the soccer player, the deity, and the volcano...
"ronaldinho" is a more unique name, and turns up 21,500,000 hits, completely blowing away this website's tally for "Tiger Woods" by more than a factor of 2.
buried as inaccurate. - wattznext, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4This isn't necessarily the "Most Popular." This would represent the most popular searches. People may well be searching for articles about people they hate (as evidenced by OJ place on the list).
- deathcode, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2Stupid article, Many athletes are from different eras, Pele is from the 60's and Maradona from the 80's. No Public Internet in those times, much less digital cameras to post images on the web. Most newspapers weren't available online so, this doesn't prove that tiger woods is the most popular athlete at all. Ronaldinho alone has 23 million results, that's twice as much as Tiger Woods, and Ronaldinho can't even compare to what Pele or Maradona did in their time... another proof of how "American" this post is.
- inactive, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2That doesn't make her good though. It is possible that her and noots suck anus at tennis but she sucks less.
- replikhant, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Pele will always be king.
- speedk0re, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1haahaha that I cannot deny :)
- Burento, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Hate doesnt mean not popular..
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1...or "Most over-rated tennis player EVER!"
- Almightymole, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"And now, for my next impression, Jesse Owens."
- replikhant, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"How do you spell Pelé? G-O-D." He has been known to stop war: both sides in Nigeria's civil war called a 48-hour cease-fire in 1967 so Pele could play an exhibition match in the capital of Lagos.
that´s off Time magazine´s list of 100 heroes of the 20th century
http://www.time.com/time/time100/heroes/profile/pe ... - inactive, on 10/13/2007, -1/+2Why? You will find AT LEAST 2 hotter atletes in any college sports program. She is hit, but nothing to fall down about.
- yfguitarist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I read that as "atheists" too and was momentarily confused when I opened the page. I thought I was just tired.
