Who the hell wants to remember scum like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, or Lindsey Lohan? - theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -7/+107And don't forget that today, Marilyn Monroe would be considered a fat cow and would have never been considered for a modeling job, let alone considered a sex symbol. Today, Kate Moss is supposedly uber hot, while a woman Marilyn Monroe's size is a cow. How ***** up people's perception of beauty has become.
- chocolatey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+80@PrincessZelda: Why were you nude in your grandpa's workshop?
- PrincessZelda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40Definetly. She was the first women I ever saw nude, in my grandpa's workshop. She's possibly one of the most beautiful women ever to live, and defined sexuality for an entire generation. I guess if you're 10 you might not get it yet, so maybe when you grow up.
- timdorr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38I'd go back in time and hit it.
- ren0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27heh, the second photo down and the last one are soooo myspace.

Class. - typo180, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20I have a hard time believing those are "not posed"
- theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17When was the last time you saw a size 12 woman (arguably Monroe's size, though she was probably closer to a 14) on a runway? Hell, when is the last time you saw a size 6 on a runway? Fashion designers (for the most part gay men who have absolutely no interest in making love to a woman) unfortunately the arbiters of who becomes a model and who doesn't.
I remember a few years ago when Alicia Silverstone "blew up" all the way to a "gigantic" size 10 and all the gossip magazines went bat *****. Personally, I thought she looked HOT as HELL with a tiny bit of extra meat on her (think Batman and Robin!), but I guess I am "wrong." The gossip rags make their living about deciding who is "fat" and who isn't. - addrake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13The odd thing is, I never hear anyone say that the new skinny ass models are hot. So why is it considered a fact that "everyone" thinks they are ?

- Systembomber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Lol, I thought it said Marilyn Manson....
- dj_sea2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Shes got "the angles"
- grapeape25, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12http://duggmirror.com/celebrity/5_Never_Seen_Photos_Of_Marilyn_Monroe_Unveiled/
- thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Aside from the easy "you think my grandmother is hot?!?!" jokes, this is actually very accurate. While Twiggy was a huge storm on the fashion world, she has destroyed the concept of true beauty in the fashion world.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -0/+7You don't hear skinny ass models are hot because you are not a gay male fashion designer. The WHOLE POINT of this trend is to make the women look like young men. Think about it for a minute and you'll realize that the people who create "fashion" are catering to their own ideas of what looks "sexy" and "hot", not ours. Since they are 99% gay men, why would anyone think that what they like has anything to do with what heterosexual men are interested in? First the fashionistas tried the "androgenous" thing (think David Bowie in the 70's), but that was too obvious. So, now the starved, breastless, heroin chic look was the way to make voluptuous women look like young men. The sad thing is that young women are falling for this and making themselves LESS attractive to REAL men. The same problem, in reverse, existed with that whole metrosexual malarky. I'm sorry, "fashion industry", but not everyone wants to be a gay man. In fact, some 90% of us would prefer you leave our girls softer and (yowza) curvier. :)
- addrake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7We took down a major us citiy's newspaper's website ? Wow!
- lansuggs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Anyone see babe Elisha Cuthbert looks like Marilyn? Especially one with the cowboy hat
- cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13Any pics of her vagine?
- Moosebern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Has no one noticed the striking similarity between Monroe in these pictures and Elisha Cuthbert? Seriously...wow.
- vixenk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The thing is, you don't see any young women in magazines, movies, etc. that aren't at the very least (wild guess here) a size 6/7... if you do, they're usually portrayed as not being as beautiful as the skinnier women. You never see a size 8 or 9 or even larger woman being portrayed as someone desirable. And while guys can just pretty much ignore these women since they don't find them attractive and they don't apply to their personal image it's very hard for a woman to do the same thing because we're constantly getting told this is the ideal of beauty... and some of us have been unfortunate enough to grow up in this kind of atmosphere.
Oh, and Monroe was about a size 12.
http://www.snopes.com/movies/actors/mmdress.htm - rglover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Classic beauty. Nothing more needs to be said.
- buuch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4modern actresses haven't got ***** on Marilyn!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was about to say the exact same thing. Not only that, but I read the first comment that isn't buried and still thought that guy said Marilyn Manson! Which led me to believe that I woke up into some dream world, where Marilyn Manson is a thing of beauty.
- OnoTadaki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4From the page - "The photographs are not posed, and capture the star in her most private moments- in bed, on a plane and in front of a mirror."
Yeahhh... I have a hard time believing the statement that those are not posed.
Still a beautiful woman though. - kaiserollofdoom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3marylin monroe, audrey hepburn, Gina Lollobrigida,Judy Garland, Ava Gardner, Joan Fontaine, seriously what happened to Hollywood.
- gabrielg01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2People compare her to today's skinny models, but let's not forget she was not really a model. She never did runways, and modeling stuff like that. Her "modeling" was done to promote her movies.
- socbret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That 3rd photograph is in a book titled "Magnum Cinema". I've owned that book for a few years.
- quandrum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've definitely seen a book of photographs done by someone famous in her (apartment|house) that the third picture of her in bed would slip into without notice. (Sorry for the the non-specificity. I work in a bookstore and see too many books to remember the titles.)
There were so many pictures of her, how many are not published? And how would you tell if they were posed or un-posed. She had some of the best photographers of her era taking pictures, probably trying to capture that "spur of the moment" look. - crash999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@cvrefugee
Here you go: http://files.sac-rtcw.de/funstuff/pics/NicePussy_closeup.jpg - IAmMissJackie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a fellow "Classic tortured beauty" , She will always be my idol.
- barbapopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1About the body-type standards... runway models are sort of a unique breed in that they're models for designers and the whole point is that they don't really reflect any kind of "average" at all... Certainly there's an idea that "thinner is better" in Hollywood, but I don't think it's the kind of all-powerful paradigm that some people make it out to be... in fact, one of the most lusted-after celebrities directly bucks this trend.
Have you seen Scarlett Johansson, say, in Scoop, or Lost in Translation? She's certainly not thin, yet she tops the "most desirable celebrity" polls constantly, or at least that's the impression I get--I was in a magazine shop in a German train station and she was on about 15 fashion/movie covers simultaneously, from various countries.
To dissect it in crude terms: she's got a larger ass, thick arms, a bit of a stomach, and her breasts have certainly benefited from the extra fat she's got on her.
Of course she's still unbelievably gorgeous, and all these things really just make her "curvaceous," and frankly contribute to the whole reason I think a lot of people find her attractive--her face is out of this world, so her body brings things back down to earth somewhat.
Now I know you can all find 100 photographs where she's slim or any sort of "curvaceousness" is just barely noticeable, so her weight probably goes up and down, but the fact remains that she's someone who'll start filming a movie when she could still stand to lose, say, 20 pounds (by the standards of some random US Magazine writer). For about 10 minutes of Lost in Translation I even entertained the idea that she might be pregnant.
Of course maybe she's just one of those lucky people who gains 10lbs and sees it all go to her breasts, and she's just keeping that up because everyone's so in love with her cleavage. One can speculate for days on this.
The whole mantra of "society's desire for amazingly skinny, perfectly in-shape females" is one big annoying generalization, and like most generalizations is "generally" not true. - CARPEDATAM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1candid?????????????? LOL
- Dimensionless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled... - thedonga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1never really thought she was anything special. pretty, but there were far more beautiful women from the same era.
- cockmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1she probably had a HUGE BUSH.
- thefinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is a reason that these 5 "never seen" photos haven't been seen... they are not very good. She looks better in other pictures-- but these aren't them!
Either her or the photographer were having an off day. - monkey1976, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not to break up the Marilyn lovefest, but it's interesting how the perception of her has changed. Back in the day, everyone thought she was a bimbo starlet. A slut, a homewrecker, a no-talent hack. Sorry, but it's true.
If bleached hair, heavy makeup, a fake "little girl" voice (see Madonna's faux British accent) make you an icon, then so be it. I just can't get on board. - DennisPwnsj00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was just going to say that, and going to mention the angles. arr.
- textalon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If she was a "fat cow", I'd take some of that "Moo" anytime!
- datagod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, you guys are pretty harsh.
I agree with the "scum" comment regarding today so-called celebrities, by the way. - doorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a Marilyn fan, I can read news of her every day, but...
none of these pics are new. - charliekendo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think she looks great. They don't make 'em like that any more.
- squarehappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm currently looking at the fifth image in a book entitled Voyeur.

That's two down. - newspaperman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some even nicer (unseen, naked) photos of her were on show earlier this year in London:
