Some advice for this woman: Get over it. - nelson8403, on 02/12/2009, -23/+342just because their squinting their eyes doesn't mean they're acting like asians.. people pull the damn race card too much for ***** like this.
- SwabTheDeck, on 02/12/2009, -5/+297I know this might be shocking, but it's still not illegal to be racist in this country.
BTW, you could say that the asian dude in the picture is trying to open his eyes wide to mock Westerners, and that would be equally ridiculous. - hazypensieve, on 02/12/2009, -0/+192Whoa, whoa whoa. Only the Asians in LA County get a piece of this? As a poor Asian in Oregon, I protest!
- mrgeekguy, on 02/12/2009, -16/+192The Asian kid in the photo should get at least half of that.
- TannerRollin, on 02/12/2009, -8/+179I sue you long time!
- Sil369, on 02/12/2009, -1/+169i hope ppl will mock my nationality and post a photo of it online so i can sue their asses for 10 trillion dollars.
- dickeywayne, on 02/12/2009, -16/+152Me Chinese
Me play joke
Me put lawsuit
in your Coke! - slapded, on 02/12/2009, -6/+140is that a bong in the background?
- meruru, on 02/12/2009, -1/+120I'm Polish I must be entitled to billions by now
- colonelbuckshot, on 02/12/2009, -20/+137Notice how whites don't pull the race card for themselves? I'm white and I can't imagine taking offense at any racial joke or slur on whites. Whites even allow themselves to be openly discriminated against by law (affirmative action/race quotas) and they don't seem too bothered by it.
- sm4k, on 02/13/2009, -7/+113I'm gonna sue him for widening his eyes so much. He's obviously mocking Caucasians, and I am deeply offended.
- dty2010, on 02/13/2009, -4/+94"I guess you "whites" should have thought of that before enslaving africans, ***** up asian countries with multiple wars, treat latinos like hired hands, and killing millions of jews."
I'm white and i've never done any of those things. Am I allowed to claim i'm the victim? - inactive, on 02/12/2009, -5/+92As a Trans-Siberian Huskie Mix American, I am deeply offended by this. /s
- kevingarnett, on 02/12/2009, -6/+91The funny thing about OCA is that they don't seem to grasp the idea of going after Miley Cyrus for this photo is a bit petty and borderline childish. And that the only thing they are achieving is losing credibility and turning _her_ into the victim in the eyes of the public.
As for the topic of racism, it's not going to go away. but crying "racism" or "racist" every single opportunity (no matter how remote) does nothing but feed into it and keep it alive an well. Save the racism cries for when they are really suitable and you will maintain credibility. Constantly crying wolf will only result and the public not caring about you or your cause.
...pick your battles - ohplease, on 02/13/2009, -7/+90
Hey MCA2142, whites didn't enslave Africans, they bought slaves from other Africans.
Ignorant outrage is pathetic. - t0x2c, on 02/13/2009, -1/+84Wait which one is Miley Cyrus? All I see are a bunch of asians and a stoned kid.
- Jeepinator, on 02/13/2009, -3/+80He pretty much speaks for all white people.
- slifty, on 02/13/2009, -5/+80MCA2142 - I only read the first sentence, but you sound like a racist ass. It's that kind of talk that justifies EXACTLY the sentiment you were trying to discredit.
I would say blow it out your ass, but clearly you're already doing so. - Foxprowl, on 02/12/2009, -15/+80I guess that puts a pretty big "chink" in her public persona
- Inflammo, on 02/13/2009, -4/+68People love being victims, and people love suing. Unfortunately this isn't surprising. Idiotic.
- toyama, on 02/12/2009, -12/+74Hirarious!
- Snoosy, on 02/12/2009, -9/+69The Asian is opening his eyes really wide in that picture. I'm going to sue him for $4 billion for being racist towards me and my whiteness.
- inactive, on 02/12/2009, -5/+64Yeah, because it's not like Asians are racist ever, ever, ever at all.. Foreign white Devils..
- DeathRay2K, on 02/13/2009, -2/+58MCA2142, clearly you are right and all white people are absolutely and incorrigibly racist. That's why they still enslave all of the other races and absolutely refuse to have to even look at the 'inferiors'.
Wait...
Racism doesn't discriminate. By that I mean every race has people in it who are racists against the others. The fact that you would make such a ridiculously biased argument is proof that you are the one with no clue about the world you live in. - fuknlightn, on 02/12/2009, -0/+55Trillions
- Cararan, on 02/12/2009, -1/+56Lawyers... 4 Billion really!!!
- inactive, on 02/12/2009, -3/+56Of course I am. It must be hard being transsexual sled dog. You shouldn't stand up while using the computer. That's got to be uncomfortable.
- kd420, on 02/12/2009, -7/+58I'm sorry, but you don't have a right to not be offended; free speech trumps your feelings. I don't get exactly what she is suing for anyways. She clearly yields the point that the kids were imitating Asians, I don't see where the negative connotation comes in... unless she thinks that there is something inherently wrong with Asian eyes. If I dressed in the clothes of another culture, how can you assume I am mocking them. Maybe little ol' Miley was showing solidarity with her Asian friend. This case will be dismissed by the first judge that sees it.
- inactive, on 02/12/2009, -1/+52Hold on I need to sit down... Are you ***** me? You're serious?
- fuknlightn, on 02/12/2009, -1/+50SO, if she wasn't rich how much would she get sued for?
- Emunator, on 02/12/2009, -5/+54Wow, I guess people are really into making an example out of rich celebrities for harmless stuff these days... Bale, Phelps, and now this.
But while you're at it, Mrs. Kim, why not sue the other 5 kids too? You could probably filch a few extra bucks off of them while you're at it...
Damn sue-happy America... - JDoorjam, on 02/13/2009, -0/+47Damn, if the photographer had only turned around, they would have caught Michael Phelps slinking away.
- derpaderp, on 02/12/2009, -4/+50Don't give them exposure. It only encourages these people. Just ignore them and they will be gone
- Ovalteen, on 02/13/2009, -0/+46About tree-fitty.
- rhoads83j, on 02/13/2009, -9/+55Is that money going towards eye surgery?
- Nicksname1, on 02/13/2009, -3/+48He's not asian he's just really really high.
- coolian, on 02/13/2009, -3/+48I don't know why I was reminded of this girl:
http://badcontrol.com/?p=949 - sugarazor, on 02/13/2009, -2/+46On what grounds?
This case will be laughed out of court. - inactive, on 02/13/2009, -2/+46I'm actually offended by the face the asian kid is making... As a caucasian round-eye I want $4000 from the asian community.
- JCH897, on 02/13/2009, -2/+45But she's just being Miley...
- blqysmg, on 02/13/2009, -2/+44@MCA2142: I am no more white than our President is black, however I have been called names all of my life. I've been called cracker, light-bread, whitey, cotton-top, Ku Kux, redneck, white-trash, elitist, racist-mother-@#$#@#, and many other appellations. The fact that I'm technically Caucasian is the reason for the hate. I do mean hate. I've had lies told about me at work by members of other races in order to diminish my achievements and advance others in my place. I have had proof of this, but since I was "white" and the others were not, anything I had to say was discounted as covering up for my perceived bigotry.
After all of this, I maintain a neutral stance. I firmly believe that a person's worth is determined by that person, not an accident of his or her birth. I have witnessed bigotry on both sides, and lament it each time. I know that many of the examples of xenophobia I've seen from the urban community is predicated on lies and misunderstandings that were taught to the people as children. It will take time for those people who were admittedly oppressed at one time to come to an understanding that the oppression is now mostly imaginary.
I know what it feels like to assume everyone is pointing fingers at you, talking about you, putting you down. It is a kind of paranoia, a persecution complex. Anytime something does not go well, one can say, "it's not my fault, THOSE BASTARDS are holding me back." I've seen it quite a few times. In the Army, I had a squad-mate who went to the AG to complain that his CO was illegally holding him back because of race. It backfired on him when he discovered that the one holding him back was also black, and was doing it for valid reasons. The WHITE officer wanted to advance the man, but could not because of problems in his personnel record.
Sure, there are always stories of persecution that illustrate true examples of bigotry and hatred. There are ***** out there who hate people of other races. Some of those ***** are white. Some of them are not. Don't judge every white person based on skin color - that's as bigoted as the accusation itself.
With all of that having been said, we should NOT be calling each other names, making fun of minor differences. I would say that goes in the category of poor taste, not hate crimes, but that's just me. - Llanowar, on 02/13/2009, -0/+42Racism and playing the race card are pretty much the same in my opinion.
And thus I hate them both. - Lewie, on 02/12/2009, -0/+41Sweet, who should we start suing? Russia? Germany? Comedians?
- Klisk, on 02/13/2009, -2/+40Is it just me, or is this being viewed incorrectly?
The asian kid was in on the joke. HE WAS IN ON THE JOKE. He got a laugh out of it as much as anyone else. He was widening his eyes to look more caucasian. It was supposed to be Miley and her friends simply being kids. There is absolutely no harm done here. It wasn't meant to be racist, nor was it truly racist. Wow. How overly sensitive can people be? - jdibiase, on 02/13/2009, -1/+38Just for argument's sake, let's agree with MCA2142 for just minute. Does that mean that if you make a funny face, you owe someone money if they THINK that the face is offensive. Following that logic, someone representing rabbits (or maybe Playboy Bunnies?) should sue the kid holding up the "bunny ears," and I don't know who the kid with his hand over his mouth might be offending ... mute, er, I mean, vocally challenged people.
Jeez people, get a grip ... there are serious problems that need addressing!! - larsonc, on 02/12/2009, -4/+41*Pulls grammar card*: you used "their/they're" both correctly and incorrectly in the same sentence.
- facespaz, on 02/13/2009, -3/+38woman in Dr. Evil voice: "No. We want......4 BILLION DOLLARS!"
