- kevinrose, on 01/11/2009, -1/+410RIP, you'll always be missed.
- rusty0101, on 01/10/2009, -4/+304For about 3 years, you wished you lived in his neighborhood. Didn't you? I know I did.
- CynicSight, on 01/11/2009, -1/+290"Whenever he was asked to castigate non-Christians or gays for their differing beliefs, he would instead face them and say, with sincerity, "God loves you just the way you are." Often this provoked ire from fundamentalists."
That's awesome. RIP Mr. Rogers. - WriterSD, on 01/10/2009, -3/+287I used to watch Mr. Rogers every day as a kid. :-)
- Cyori, on 01/11/2009, -1/+271He seemed like the nicest guy you could know.
- Cannonballkid, on 01/11/2009, -0/+218A genuinely good person
- archer104, on 01/11/2009, -0/+199Here is the video of Mr. Rogers arguing in front of the Senate that was mentioned in the article. Definitely worth a watch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXEuEUQIP3Q - Flare, on 01/11/2009, -3/+162That article almost broke me down. He was truly one of a kind.
Pray for us up there. He'll listen to you. - angelinabee, on 01/11/2009, -0/+155He did an appearance at my brother's college not long before he (Mr, Rogers, not my brother) died, and my bro decided to walk up to him and talk to him. He figured he'd just get an autograph or something, but he stood there and talked to my brother for like twenty minutes. He said that Mr. Rogers was seriously one of the nicest people he's ever met and he seemed genuinely interested in everything he said. Very cool.
- piptheminkey, on 01/11/2009, -0/+109This article made me smile :)
- Kosh, on 01/11/2009, -10/+115The REAL reason is that he wins the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny.
Pff. - Willow01, on 01/11/2009, -3/+106Hello neighbor.
- archer104, on 01/11/2009, -1/+103You are alright just the way you are.
- mtdna, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1003 years!? I'm thirty-nine and I started watching the show when I was five. 39 - 5 = I've been wishing for 34 years.
:) - RoninBee, on 01/11/2009, -3/+94hero
- Ginae, on 01/11/2009, -1/+89He was one of the classiest people EVER.
- WoodenKimono, on 01/11/2009, -0/+85I cried the day, Fred Rogers died. Thanks for being the best neighbor a kid could have.
- JasonCox, on 01/11/2009, -4/+87You my friend have been reported if only because you just called Mr Rogers a pedo. That's just wrong. I'm sure Pedobear would agree with me.
- Lloydinator, on 01/11/2009, -0/+75Would it be alright if I said I still watch Mr. Rogers Neighborhood?
- CrazyCarl22, on 01/11/2009, -2/+76I grew up watching the show, i loved every moment.
- Comp1demon, on 01/11/2009, -1/+75I agree with everyone of those points.
If Americans grew up and honored the Values and followed the Examples of FRED ROGERS (the Man not the TV personality) this country would be better off than where we are in this time and the bad things in life would be allot less frequent. - subversive1, on 01/11/2009, -7/+80"If we'd known it was yours, we never would have taken it."
Obviously those thieves did not get the message he was sending in the first place...dumb asses. - iSiafu, on 01/11/2009, -0/+72HE is what defines the perfect lifestyle. WE need more people like him.
RIP - aamer, on 01/11/2009, -0/+59Dugg for anything promoting Mr. Rogers. I miss that guy.
- djvchris, on 01/11/2009, -2/+60Where have all the good people gone?
- MaxxusFlamus, on 01/11/2009, -0/+50If more adults watched him- the world would be a better place

This man has more class than anyone else in the world past present or future. - RobotCitizen, on 01/11/2009, -0/+44He was one of the most decent persons ever, and a national treasure. His death felt like a personal loss when I heard about it. Same with Carl Sagan.
This was submitted back when he died, but it's worth revisiting.
http:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXEuEUQIP3Q - aamer, on 01/11/2009, -1/+39@banthis: Welcome to 2009. Computers are for everyone now.
I hope people don't give me ***** for being on digg when I'm 39 (FYI: I'm 25). - ignitionnate, on 01/11/2009, -0/+36As a fellow Christian, I feel that this is the example that's set for us in the Bible. Radical fundamentalists completely miss the point of Jesus' message of love and the fact that he spent time loving people who other people considered below them or unclean.
I have a huge problem with the majority of Christians who seem have forgotten this fact and spend their time protesting soldiers funerals or walk around with "Jesus Hates Fags" signs. No, Jesus preached love for everyone, regardless of race, gender, background or whatever. - WinnemuccaMac, on 01/11/2009, -1/+37Hey. You. Shut the ***** up.
- omjeremy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+36I love Mr. Rogers.
Goodbye.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcvRMHz4mb4 - Topkill, on 01/11/2009, -0/+36I still do wish I lived in his neighborhood
- Goda90, on 01/11/2009, -0/+33The TV personality was him. He was sharing himself to help better others. But yes, truly a great man on and off screen.
- Topkill, on 01/11/2009, -0/+32http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXEuEUQIP3Q
Mr. Rogers appeared in front of the Senate Subcommittee on Communications to argue against a proposed cut in federal funding for Public Broadcasting. He did such a good job explaining he convinced Senator John Pastore to not cut the funding. - stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+30Don't judge a book by its cover.
- ProfBagelwood, on 01/11/2009, -0/+31Maybe that experience was just the lesson they needed. Wouldn't that be a nice ending to that story? There's no way we can know, but I like to think it worked out that way.
- chaos7, on 01/11/2009, -0/+30his trolly was cool
- blugill, on 01/11/2009, -0/+29A genuine man of character and class. Humble, kind, generous with his time, and a legend at the same time.

http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/showdown - j1ggy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+28Mr. Dressup and Mr. Rogers, both Americans, were actually friends and worked together in Canada until they went their separate ways. Mr. Rogers show actually originated in Canada and was designed by CBC. It ran for 3 seasons until he went down south.
- allocate, on 01/11/2009, -0/+27That was great. Thanks for the link.
- Typhoon2009, on 01/11/2009, -0/+27I loved Mr. Rogers.
- Hartman27, on 01/11/2009, -0/+26I'm a fellow Christian digger as well and my theory is simple.
I was never asked to judge. That's for the big man upstairs.
I will be judged by him just like everyone else and it's my job on Earth to spread his love, not convert people.
My actions speak louder than my words and those actions should represent the love I find in God.
So many Christians have forgotten that.
Mr. Rogers is one of the few men I'll never call by his first name.
I just have too much respect for him to do that. - thegrantman, on 01/11/2009, -2/+26He was a genuinely good man.
- PhillyMJS, on 01/11/2009, -0/+24Agreed on the feeling like a personal loss. I was 29 when he died, and I still remember exactly where I was when I heard the news of his death. I am not at all ashamed to admit that I wept. This list gets reposted about once a year, and I still get a little misty when I reread it.
- plainOldFool, on 01/11/2009, -0/+21@banthis: I am going to be 33 in May. Now get off my lawn!!!
- Zeroxysm, on 01/11/2009, -3/+23Kevin Rose is 31.
