- Xageroth, on 10/12/2007, -16/+161I hate to go out on a limb but.. I'm not sure I understand how half naked pictures of someone at any age (day 1 to year 100+) is hurting anybody especially if the person involved is totally into it. "Age of Consent" is being used here as a lawyers term, but really, age of consent is much younger than people seem to remember.
Just because some sweaty fat dude a hundred miles away is rubbing one off to these pictures doesn't suddenly make it wrong. Men will wack it to pretty much anything, even cartoons. I think people are just embarassed by sexuality. Go ahead and digg me down I'm just trying to understand. Trying to figure out how this girl is supposedly screwing up her life by willfully posing for pictures (?) - zeiben, on 10/12/2007, -9/+135"The age of consent has not changed from 9 in traditional Islamic cultures. Iran and Saudi Arabia have no age of consent for those who are married."
Yeah, to have an "age of consent", your society first needs a realistic concept of "consent". I'm all for cultural relativism, but to quote Bill Maher, there are some things in the west that aren't just "different", they're "better". Protection of children and treatment of women are two prime examples. They may not make up for all our global imperialism, exploitation, torture and warmongering, but they are definitely superior to their counterparts in Islamic cultures. - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -12/+95Mohammad married a girl at age 6, but was gracious and waited to take her virginity at age 9.
This is a difference of culture, religion, and time period. Still seems weird to some. But I think it is a prime example.
The age of consent has not changed from 9 in traditional Islamic cultures. Iran and Saudi Arabia have no age of consent for those who are married. - Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+76@acff
So you mean to tell me Jessica Alba was a complete and utter unattractive girl at 17years and 364 days old, but the day she turned 18 she was absolutely gorgeous and sexy?
That doesn't mean I'd touch that 14 year old girl, but she can still be attractive. - qwickone, on 10/12/2007, -7/+77Not really a differnt country in this respect. A few of the Victoria's Secret models were around 14-15 when they start. I guess the difference is they try to/did look like adults and this girl definitely looks like a kid
- happyperson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+62Thats what I've never really understood... In the UK the age of consent is 16, but to watch hardcore porn, you have to be 18. so at 16 you can have sex, but you must keep your eyes closed?
- Makubex, on 10/12/2007, -11/+72If you can't find a good woman, raise one!
- frozen1, on 10/12/2007, -16/+75What is bad or what is good is totally relative... Greek philosophers were "pedo's" and "homosexuals", they didn't exactly strike me as sick degenerate men, it's a matter of cultural values, if you had been brought up in ancient greece your values would be totally different, but western secular culture descendend from the judeo christian branches of their ancestors, and so really they're just repeating repackaged judeo christian values.
I'm not saying I support pedophelia (i.e. sex with immature children), but being attracted to beautiful people is universal, no matter what the person's age is once they develop and mature and develop attractive traits.
Being attracted to beautiful people of different ages does not equal pedophelia.
Next... pedophilia is what homosexuality was 50-100 years ago to christian culture...
The truth is kids engage in auto-erotic behaviour as young as 4 to 5 years old, if not even earlier for some, children are sexual beings, I used to masturbate with my 5 year old (girl) cousin when we were kids when the parent's weren't looking, you can't escape evolution, no matter how much it may "offend" your cutlural values.
We see pictures of naked people all the time, why is the west so obsessed with men or women being attracted to other human beings who happen to be younger? Once you develop beyond being a baby you can't prevent yourself from being beautiful and if you are any kind of sexually aware human being you know kids as young as 4-5 that are absolutely stunning and will grow up to be stunning teens and adults, its totally natural to be attracted to what is beautiful.
It's simply a sin in western culture to say that, how many parents, teachers have fantasies about ***** those beautiful children when they are older as adults?? My bet would be a hell of a lot. - Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6314 damn....smoking anyway you look at it.
- hzrds, on 10/12/2007, -5/+55Am I the only one who is wondering how DickMc just HAPPENED to stumble across this story?
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -8/+53First off, she's not naked so its NOT pornography.
Secondly how is this news? This is Japan, idol books for girls of any age has been around for ages now. Keep in mind, these are for young Otaku's! Many are kids as well. You've got little American teens with pictures of young guys in their lockers, Otaku's got little idol girls in swimsuits and cosplay!
(Otaku = Anime Fans [usually male], Cosplay = Costume Play many from Anime Characters)
Thirdly, at least in Japan I don't hear about how priests and teachers are sleeping with their kids, people arrested for actual child pornography, crazy pedophiles, and acts of child abuse, which although I love America, has been a common theme in the news recently. - HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -7/+45So, is this a NSFW link?
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37@acff: Everyone who's attracted the children is going to rape them?
Does that mean that everyone attracted to women are going to rape them?
Your logic is pretty terrible. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+42...cause that wasnt creepy.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -22/+56Once again this comment thread proves that Americans think the world revolves around their morals. (Or that their morals or even correct!)
- baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35haha. yeah. he was just doing some..um...research..
- lnf69, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33@Rickard
"... this little girl obviously doesn't fully understand what's going on..."
This is not so obvious to me.
She actually looks like she understands quite a lot of what she's doing. - Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -5/+33and northen america too from what I hear
- ro0ke, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32Well, I certainly feel like a pervert now.
- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28@Acff
Welcome to the human race. Sexual desire and attraction don't follow laws. They're primal and they happen.
Sometimes you're attracted to someone you shouldn't be. What makes us human is the ability to rationally think "Well, I clearly should not be attracted to this person, but I am. I recognize my feelings, but due to the circumstance, I will ignore it and move on".
Being attracted to an attractive girl is natural -- doesn't mean you're going to rape her. And at fourteen, I'm six years older than her. She's attractive. I'd never touch a fourteen year old, but in six years, the age difference would never be noticed. - walugi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31You are so well informed.
- jblade, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30Some 14 year olds look at lot different then others, and are different maturation. I think its hard to determine any one age should be considered "legal."
However I think its pretty certain that 18 is a bit high. - Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -9/+33Just because you think it's unacceptable doesn't mean it is.
- shirosamurai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Some of you act as if this is some shocking travesty that has just been unveiled to the world. This has been going on for years and years in Japan with girls as young as 11. The public doesn't care, and the girls themselves don't care. Although Japanese culture is generally thought to be more reserved, openness with sexuality has been ingrained in the culture for centuries.
- EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25At age 9 there are physiologiccal concerns. Culture or not, it's physically dangerous to a girl at age 9 (in most cases).
That said, in most states you can drive a 25,000 box truck before you can consent to having sex. It's on the same playing field as being able to die in a war you don't believe in before you can have a Bud. - FloatingSakura, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29Federal Law says age of consent in Japan is 13, but perfectual laws (which overrides federal laws) usually states it to be 16-18. Well, it's 18 to be part of any pornographic material anyways, according to the "child pornography act." Of course, photobooks aren't pornography beecause you can't see "anything." :p
BT1000101: LoLz. Yeah, she's a little hottie.. I can see the guys counting down to when she becomes 18. ;) - nixpins, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Yeah, because Japan and Thailand are so close together, why don't we just pretend they're the same damn country?
- rcomegys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18You can find tons of these in Japan. 14 is nothing. Her career is nearing it's peak, not just getting started. As someone said above, different culture, different values.
But despite the fixation on the young form, people are incredibly open here. In America, if I smiled at someone's kid and asked to hold them, I'd get a face full of pepper spray. Here, in Japan, I get a kindly "go for it", and the parents are happy to have someone dote on their child. Still relatively safe. - W00DR0W, on 10/12/2007, -10/+28Nah this aint crossing the line, Japan did that years ago.
- Soseki, on 10/12/2007, -12/+281. It is OK to make a judgement about someone else's culture. It's BS to say we cannot have opinions about what others do. The idea that his mag could take advantage of a 14 year old highly aggravates me. Why? Have you ever spent any time with a 14 year old kid? They are still pretty much children. Yes, they are just starting high school, but most of them are still very immature.
2. I have studied Japan my entire life, and lived there for a great deal of time. While this type of stuff is tacitly left alone as acceptable, most normal people do not think it's OK to look at it.
3. Just because you think something is acceptable does not mean it necessarily is. - magic6435, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23'i would not let my fourteen year old daughter put pictures on the web of herself in thongs, spreading her crotch, and making suggestive tongue in mouth poses"
Then don't and shut the ***** up....... at least thats what I would do ... what you don't care about what I think or would do ? imagine that. - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23That girl needs to eat something.
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17In the UK 12 year old girls ***** and get knocked up because the government will give them welfare money. And we think this is ***** up???
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -11/+25She is not pretty, and she is not mature. Those are the problems, not the age. And it's not pornography BTW.
- argh44z, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Dugg down as lame. DIfferent culture, let 'em be.
- fatnutz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20Definitely not my cup of tea..
Different culture, I understand that, no probs here. She doesn't show anything that you can't see at ANY beach...
I don't wanna hear a peep out of you hentai watchin *****, you guys are basicallly watching cartoons of underage girls getting raped by tentacles and *****....You have a major malfunction, seek help. - zeno60, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Not to judge, but i'm more worried about DickMcVengeance's(submitter) dugg history combined with this...
http://digg.com/users/DickMcVengeance/dugg - FloatingSakura, on 10/12/2007, -13/+25Junior Idols' photobooks aren't really unusual in Japan, but to have it THIS provocative is.
Irie Saaya (try image google her if you don't know who she is), started when she was 11. Most of the images you see of her in google image would be her at that time (she's 13 now). She was known for her F-cup at 11... :o - icepick314, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24uhmm.........she ain't that hot....
all she got is the fact that she's young....appealing to all the lolipedos out there.... - Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19That is why the To Catch a Preditor ***** makes me mad. These guys think they are talking to a 13 year old, but in reality it is an adult. So they are talking to someone "pretending" to be a kid, not a kid. A 13 year old girl is a real stupid ass when it comes to the sex stuff and real life experiences. I bet a lot of those guys would realize it if they were in fact talking to some tart. But no it is an adult and they talk like an adult and don't seem young and are more mature. They have the illusion of her being older.
Now having said that, I bet a good number are sick *****, but I bet a majority would think twice if they talked to a real dumb ass girl. - Blue_Eon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I'm kinda torn on this one.
I, for one, don't really find this girl attractive, but there have been instances where I have been fooled.
For instance, my cousin, who is 18, likes to use my computer to surf Myspace. So, every once in a while I'll look at the screen and see a gorgeous looking girl, who I perceive to be around 20 or 21. Turns out she's 16 or 17.
Or when I found out that cheerleader on Heroes was only 17. I honestly though she was 19 or 20.
So then what? Am I supposed to just magically turn it off because she is under age? You can't do that. If a teenage girl looks much older than older than she is and has the body of a woman, that puts guys in a weird situation. One side says, "Well it's wrong for me to think that way," while the other side says, "Man, that girl is smokin'' hot."
I'm not talking child porn here or anything like that. That's obviously wrong and very sick. However, a lot of teenage girls look much older than they really are and have the bodies of full grown women. Is there supposed to be a cut off mechanism in my brain for instances such the ones I have mentioned? There isn't one. Humans are driven by instinct and males are attracted to what they perceive is most fertile.
I hate how moral society tries to make everyone feel bad for very insignificant things. I'll probably be dugg down for this, but almost every guy in here has had a moment where they were put in a bind because they thought someone under the age limit was attractive. - lnf69, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Please to helping me understand the big transaction here.
Why is pubescent girl in suggestive photos causing so much scandalization in the hearts of men?
Why is pedophilia wrong?
Stealing is obviously wrong.
Murder is obviously wrong.
Only in the past 100 years is slavery seen as wrong through out the world.
Morality is not a fixed reality. It is in constant flux.
- effervescence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Just to clarify, the cup sizes over there are slightly different than they are in America. Her "F-cup" was closer to a C or a D. Still impressive, but not as freakish as an F.
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Thats the problem, the morality surroinging "age of consent" and other things assumes that everyone becomes aware of their bodies at the exact same moment. I have met some young girls that showed by the way they carried themselves, they were anything but naive. On the other end I have met 23 year olds who were 'curious'.
What upsets me is that when the Japanese idolise their young stars it is wrong. But Americans dres their 6 year-olds in tight sweatpants with the word tease pasted across the ass and it is just fine. Naivety is a result of how you were raised and in Japanese culture they are raised to accept this stuff. - fakecoward, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17@chrimpcrackers
I've been involved in the development of one of the anti-child-pornography systems used by the police in japan. Child pornography is big in japan and they are using a lot of resources to combat this. - directedition, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Ummmm, NAMBLA called.....something about a lost membership card?"
Ummmm, do you even know what NAMBLA stands for? Or that the person in question is female? - Rivetgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9i looked at the site, the most revealing thing is a string bikini. You can see hordes of 14 year olds wearing THE EXACT SAME THING on any southern California beach any day of summer. The only difference here is that shes famous in japan, and she put it on the web. So someone help me out here, where's the story?
The movie babel had an 11 year old fapping and a supposed 16 year old showing her muff to random guys. Just because it's japanese doesn't make it dirty. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15sick
- jonathantneal, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Jeezy Creezy! Frozen, we (as a society) are REALLY not ready to address the topic of youth sexuality yet. This subject brings about nothing but sensitivity malfunctions, finger-pointing demonization, and general irrationality. Rickard made a very good point about the risk of a child "not understanding" what he or she was subjecting themselves to, but that opens up another can of worms, ie "what are we protecting exactly, pregnancy, physical abuse?"
I've worked with youth for years, and I've been lucky enough to never have encountered predators in any of the staff or ministries I have worked with - and I personally don't understand it - but I know it's out there, and when i try to wrap my brain around some-kind-of personal opinion or judgement I would hold for for people like that, man, I'm honestly a bit lost, and so it's easier just to go with the 'what a creep' label, like everybody else. So, I just thought I would share that contemplative failure of mine. -
