Unreliable Consumer Reports ratings: statistical problems haunt magazine

allpar.com — Consumer Reports gets a big red dot in this easy to read wrapup of statistical flaws at the self-proclaimed industry standard of reliability surveys. Problems include small sample size, self-selected sample, and different ratings of the same product when sold under different names; there are fixes but CR prefers legal threats to reform.
