- DustyStarbucks, on 01/24/2008, -1/+97NY Times Headline: Zimbabwe has more millionaires than the US
- LordIV, on 01/24/2008, -0/+90Well, that actually makes a lot more sense why the recently dead prime ministers son left me 40 million... Only $16
- wowmacnut, on 01/24/2008, -0/+77Now only worth $3.50 ... inflation is bad in Zimbabwe
- thefirstenemy, on 01/24/2008, -0/+54I think the bills are even labeled with expiration dates.
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -5/+51im rich biatch!
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -2/+47They slaughtered/evicted all the white farmers (nobody's calling it a hate crime, funny that) now they're starving. I don't feel sorry for them at all. This situation is entirely of their own making.
Typically well thought out African plan. - rarson, on 01/24/2008, -3/+41"Plagued by hyperinflation of over 50,000% a year, Zimbabwe's central bank recently decided to issue $10 million notes."
This will only make it worse! Germany tried it before, and it didn't work. Why do they always try this? Paper money has no value, regardless of how many zeros you stamp it with.
The reaction by government to an inflating currency is always to print more of it, which just inflates it even more. It's insane that nobody in charge today understands that yet. - ghm101, on 01/24/2008, -1/+36I want one.
- ammar456, on 01/24/2008, -1/+36anyone wanna move to zimbabwe and become a multi millionaire?
- khail250, on 01/24/2008, -2/+26you better not be white.. you wont be alive too long
- SenorCoconut, on 01/24/2008, -1/+25You are so right!
The people of Zimbabwe are suffering while Mugabe lives in a palace fit for a king. - Sanduu, on 01/24/2008, -3/+26That is really unfair
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -1/+24Mugabe tossed out the oppressive white land owners so he could have everything to himself, shame.
- user305, on 01/24/2008, -0/+22Pfft, that's nothing, Yugoslavia released 500 billion dinars bill in 1993.
Picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:500000000000_di ...
"Yugoslavia suffered 5 × 1015 percent inflation per month (prices double every 16 hours) between 1 October 1993 and 24 January 1994." - Y0tsuya, on 01/24/2008, -1/+23On the bright side, everybody in Zimbabwe can now say he/she's a multimillionaire.
- Kwashiorkor, on 01/24/2008, -5/+25Zimbabwe spent money they didn't have (through inflation) to try to pay their way out of the land distribution crisis crisit that they created.
We're doing the same thing to pay for a crisis in Iraq that we created.
Adding zeroes onto the bills won't fix the problem. We have to take away the politician's ability to create money as they see fit.
Restore the Constitution. - n8r0n, on 01/24/2008, -1/+20They all look alike to you don't they...
- glory, on 01/24/2008, -1/+19First of all, to actually be located in the continent of Europe.
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -1/+19 Worse yet now that they brutally murdered thousands of white farmers and failed to manage the farms guess who is going to be asked to send them food aid? Those evil white men of course.
- khpmli, on 01/24/2008, -0/+17They got what they wanted when they voted Robert Mugabe: now everyone is a millionaire
- mitchlourens, on 01/24/2008, -0/+16my grandfather was a white farmer in what was then Rhodesia, he fled to South Africa, where i was born. You are exactly right about it though. The farmers knew how to farm, how to work with economics. It's too bad they aren't even allowed in the country any longer.
- nesibus, on 01/24/2008, -1/+16So the guy in the picture is overly happy for what....$24?
I'm rich biotch! - thatsmyaibo, on 01/24/2008, -0/+15Well you can afford it.
- 10lbhammer, on 01/24/2008, -0/+13I think it was a joke. don't be so combative.
- thefirstenemy, on 01/24/2008, -0/+13Indeed, they do http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/01_03/Chigar ...
- amfantasy, on 01/24/2008, -4/+17**you're an idiot
- jdh24, on 01/24/2008, -1/+13ironically, the more of these 10 million bills they print, the less they'll be worth
- norman619, on 01/24/2008, -3/+14They may not be quite PC but here it goes....
It's called Justice. - Sagags, on 01/24/2008, -5/+16he didnt pull that number out of his ass, unlike you
- notthemama, on 01/24/2008, -0/+11I'm wondering why anyone who grow or make products or provide services even accept that money anymore. If I were a farmer in zimbabwe, I'd be refusing that money. No one says you have to sell. Barter still works too.
Mugube won't be laughing long if he chauffer quits or he can't get a new one when this one breaks. - simplenation, on 01/24/2008, -6/+16thats like what? $1.00 canadian?
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+10I, for one, don't think thats funny any more.
- quomen, on 01/24/2008, -6/+16FOTE FOR ZON ZAUL!
- EXreaction, on 01/24/2008, -0/+10I'd buy a few of them...
Even for $3.50 I don't think a few are a bad investment...even if it ends up being worthless you could frame it and sell it on ebay. And if, by some odd chance that their money is worth something some day you'd be rich...but that's probably thousands of times less likely than winning a lottery with millions of people in it. - inactive, on 01/24/2008, -8/+18Remember -- The intrinsic value of fiat money is zero. Only supply and demand give fiat money value.
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9germany ended up fixing their economy with war. I guess zimbabwe needs a hitler
- bimtott, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9By all means, go. Zimbabwe could stand to have an infusion of stable foriegn currency.
- Hipple, on 01/24/2008, -4/+13That's true for everything. Name something that has intrinsic economic value.
- catalysis, on 01/24/2008, -1/+9The intrinsic value of anything is only as much as someone is willing to give for it.
- ep53, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8Because all the people with "Bricks" of money would me multi-billionaires. The odds of that are 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999 to 1 so its basically impossible.
- Subpoena, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7*****, I'll pay them $5 for one of those bills, that's cool looking. It even says "Ten Million Dollars" right on it. Badass.
- MrLlama, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7Ron Paul comments in completely unrelated news stories don't get dug up anymore. Sorry.
- ep53, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7It will probably get to the point where items and goods will be exchanged instead of currency because a bottle of Coke will not vary in price greatly and people will exchange goods (milk, ham, bread etc) rather than money.
- jezsik, on 01/24/2008, -1/+8Yeah, but don't forget what happened to Germany AFTER that. [shudder]
- funkymonkey01, on 01/24/2008, -3/+10No problem mate
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -1/+8One Double Cheeseburger Please.......
-Your total comes to $250,000
Drive up to the second window please....... - ep53, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7It will probably get to the point where items and goods will be exchanged instead of currency because a bottle of Coke will not vary in price greatly and people will exchange goods (milk, ham, bread etc) rather than money.
- USAOwnz, on 01/24/2008, -0/+6Pretty soon they're going to start stealing the plastic and paper bands that holds the money because it's worth more.
- falkonv7l, on 01/24/2008, -1/+7You think that was a clean election
