- T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a shame (most) Avatar's can't link to external files - it would be much easier to make an advertising engine out of it. But that would mean whoring all the ad space and milking even other people's property for the sake of pennies. Maybe not the best idea anyway.
Over the last 12 months I've seen forum signature renting become hugely popular too. Marketing pioneers keep finding new ways of getting their products and services in front of their target audience. Hats off in a way but also scary to think where this is going. - T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One problem though, the Avatars link to the members' websites, not yours. You should also make them link to you for direct effect. Otherwise it's just a branding exercise, not direct marketing.
- WhatiFind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great idea! Nice exposure troughout the digitaltpoint network. Good luck!

- yococs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1great idea! :)
- weirfire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fantastic idea! The whole forum looks like a huge array of colours. Some people have taken the initiative to make their own mark on each avatar.
- siftguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is the future of advertising as people ignore banners and contextual ads. SIG links go ignored since everyone has tons of sites in their SIG's. The avatar is the single most visible spot on a forum and when done in a mass way, people stand up and notice it. A web directory advertising on a webmaster forum is very smart, you cannot get more targeted traffic and it is paying off in a big way.
Think about this... companies like Nike advertising on avatars on sport forums, expedia on a travel forum, Bose on a high def. forum all with avatar advertising. Banner advertising is so 1990's the avatar will be in for 2007. - spdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great idea :-) I am wondering how many people are going to copy this and start their own avatar marketing
- siftguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think this is going to catch on. Someone already thought it was a good idea and *tried* buying up the rest of the avatars on a specific forum.
