nytimes.com — The Bush administration plans to propose broad new authority for the Federal Reserve to oversee market stability, possibly exposing Wall Street firms to greater scrutiny, but avoiding a call for tighter regulation.

But I'm now officially done with you Bush. Are you that big of a Moron? Wait, I think we already know the answer to that question. If this bill gets past, the damage will be irreversible. Grant an organization that already has so much control over our economy more power? Are you serious!?
Any shred of thought I had of voting for McCain is now dead. I will now vote for whichever Democrat gets the nomination, as long as it's Obama.- caferrell, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Were you one of the "conservatives" that scoffed at Ron Paul? You might want to think about supporting a movement that returns us to Constitutional government.
In the meantime we have to vote for Obama and pray that he may receive a Divine Enlightenment.- airiox, on 03/30/2008, -0/+1If you look at my page I have been a supporter or Ron Paul for a long time. Donated to his candidacy etc Unfortunately the media convinced other conservatives to believe that he could not win. I remember people walking around saying, boy I sure do agree with that Ron Paul a lot. But he can never win. Or they refused to vote for him because he wanted to withdraw from Iraq. A bunch of sand dwellers are not a grave threat to us. A bunch of corrupt politicians at home are.

- tomboy501, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5It's Homeland Security for the economy! Throw a bunch of cronies, rejects, and political-appointees together, give them questionable powers and a bloated budget with minimal oversight, call it a 'department', wind them up and set them loose. This has fail written all over it.
- caferrell, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Yup, and the best part is that your children will still be paying for this 30 years from now.
- caferrell, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1So lets take the non-gubermental organization of questionable legality that is owned by the banks and operates withoput any regulation or oversight by our elected government and put them in charge of regulating the banks.
Is this a joke? Is Dubya going to appear with Dana Perino on Monday chuckling while he tells us that he was only kidding?
This can't really be happenning - The Federal Reserve Bank, a non government organization that is wholly owned by the banks, will be in charge of regulating the banks, and when the regulation doesn't work and banks are in danger of insolvency then the Fed (owned by the banks) will just make more money, inflating everyone else's dollars, and bail out the banks.
This is welfare for the rich paid for by the poor. It is unconstitutional and unfair and we should absolutely not accept this piracy.
