- SheilaNoya, on 09/25/2008, -1/+8The scary thing is that the same people who have constantly been WRONG about everything, are now the ones getting unlimited new powers and a huge blank check.
"Don't worry, we'll get it right THIS time. Just trust us."
It's time to throw out everyone associated with the Bush administration. John McCain will just keep this same incompetent group of bozos intact and nothing will change. For the first time in my 58 years of living, I'm actually fearful for the future of our country.
The Republicans always use FEAR right before every election, but this time it actually looks real. Panic is setting in and yet they expect everyone to give them "one more chance"? NO WAY.
Obama / 08 - seltaeb4, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4W., as quoted in the article:
"Our policy in this administration -- laws shouldn't bail out lenders, laws shouldn't help speculators."
-- President Bush, May 19, 2008
"Our economy has continued growing, consumers are spending, business are investing, exports continue increasing and American productivity remains strong. We can have confidence in the long-term foundation of our economy...I think the system basically is sound. I truly do."
-- President Bush, July 15, 2008 - future15tbd, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3Napping implies something accidental. There was nothing accidental about this situation. It's the end result of a specific and aggressively pursued policy of letting the "free hand of the market" stuff the pockets of Wall St. bankers.
- TalentedMoron, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3FTA: "And Secretary Paulson, frankly, you didn't help the situation with your initial, imperious request to Congress that you be handed this money and that your decisions "may not be reviewed by any court of law or administrative agency." Seriously, what were you thinking?"
- almom11542, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3If you read her story a little closer you will see this:
"And Democrats, you are by no means blameless in all of this.
At the center of this crisis are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Although they didn't intend to encourage this spiraling chain reaction, it was leading Democrats in Congress -- Senate banking chairman Chris Dodd and his long-time counterpart in the House, Barney Frank -- who supported legislation that ultimately led to more and more of these bad loans we are all stuck with."
Democrats say it is Bush's fault. Republican's say it is Congress's fault because it wanted to be the big daddy/mommy and give everybody a home loan, even if they couldn't afford it.
You all insist if we elect someone from "your" party they will either:
1. Poof! Enact instant change! Wave a hand and all cronyism and arrogance will disappear. We will all own the homes of our dreams and there will be no more hurricanes!
Or
2. Fix the economy instantly! We will all be making huge bucks and our children will be smarter and better looking.
Our problem is elect "our man/woman" and think our job is over. It is not. We need to continue to make our elected officials accountable (see the story) and quit thinking one man, woman, or political party is gonna fix all of this. It's a huge mess, and we need to insist on accountability and quit being blind to the shortcomings of our elected officials Democrat or Republican. - Berkana, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Campbell Brown rocks. She would be more qualified for McCain's VP than Sarah Palin.
- kdawg1012, on 09/25/2008, -0/+2Exactly!

Yet the public buys the media's main message that this is all the GOP's fault. My thanks to Miss Brown for her fair reporting.
