- metrognome, on 01/08/2009, -0/+25There's always money in the Banana Stand.
- kemp34, on 01/07/2009, -1/+18Where did all the money go? This needs to be looked into.
- algaeturd, on 01/09/2009, -0/+14Can't you guys see that Madoff is just a scapegoat? You want to find criminals that steal money on Wall Street? You wouldn't have to look very far. The media and the powers that be want you to put all your hatred and blame onto one guy: Madoff. When in fact, there are tons of criminals on Wall Street pilfering the cash of hard working, middle-class americans left and right.
See through the *****. Yes, this guy should be properly punished but so should all the other criminals who have been involved in ponzi schemes over the past decade. - madpainter, on 01/08/2009, -0/+13Madoff is about to go down as the biggest crook in history. If the allegations are proven true, this one man will have stolen more in his lifetime than the combined value taken by every petty thief from every country in the world, from the beginning of recorded history.
- onejerusalem, on 01/08/2009, -0/+12and can he be buried with it ?
- ileftfark, on 01/09/2009, -0/+11Under the "X".
- existentialduck, on 01/08/2009, -1/+11it's not like we would get any of it =(
- boogieordie, on 01/09/2009, -0/+101-888-OOPS-JEWEL
- JamesBondJr, on 01/07/2009, -0/+9this guy is a dick, he deserves whatever sentence he gets for the scheme
- phatfiend, on 01/08/2009, -1/+10well the whole idea behind a ponzi scheme is to use new money coming in to pay off people removing their investments.. im sure he may have fudged the numbers and given himself some but i bet most of it was lost in stupid investments or used to pay out clients leaving.
- vbullinger, on 01/08/2009, -1/+10No, no it isn't.
- bundwallah, on 01/09/2009, -1/+9A trip to Guantanamo might refresh his memory?
- cyrusuncc, on 01/08/2009, -0/+7Has anyone dug up his back yard?
- toshimonkey, on 01/09/2009, -0/+7The biggest crook to get caught, you mean. There are plenty more running our government and corporations who will get away scot-free.
- theutopian, on 01/09/2009, -0/+6What I don't get is that if he has money stashed in numbered Swiss bank accounts, how come he hasn't fled the country? Surely he can afford a helicopter to land on the roof of his penthouse and take him to a waiting Yacht offshore then sail for a non-extradition treaty country and end up in Switzerland.
That's what baffles me about these guys that swindle people for millions. What are you still doing here? Why didn't you leave before you got caught (every one gets caught eventually). - Pinkertinkle, on 01/09/2009, -1/+7Where Can We Bury Bernie Madoff?
- TheCash, on 01/09/2009, -2/+8Duh... he converted it all to jewels and precious metals, and then fedexed it all to his friends and family.
Do people not read the Drudge? - d3dm, on 01/09/2009, -0/+6Nah, what he deserves is that, plus a lot more.
- chmstar, on 01/09/2009, -1/+7He has donated some to the Democrats that's a fact.
- Bronnster, on 01/09/2009, -0/+6why is he not in custody? Why is he not behind bars right now?? Why is he free to sleep in his own multimillion dollar home?? Why is he able to venture among the public and enjoy a nice restaurant dinner or to take in a movie??
- xero69, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5Have they checked his rectum?
- hurmit, on 01/09/2009, -1/+6It was a pyramid scheme. Money went to early investors in the form of spectacular returns which brought in the later investors who got screwed.
- clyentnine, on 01/09/2009, -7/+12You will never find a Jew's Jew-gold.
EDIT: a Jew's reappropriated Jew-gold. - Hota, on 01/09/2009, -1/+6I've changed my mind. I support waterboarding.
- 11oops, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5And that's why he has over $1M worth of jewelry?
- Daggerfall, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5I can´t help but being fascinated by how you can hide that much money. I wanna learn how to do it.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 01/09/2009, -1/+5It's just like The Federal Reserve, except he didn't buy off enough people to be made legal.
- dzw120, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Being an ***** CEO with a golden parachute and running a $50 billion Ponzi scheme are very, very different things. Everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions, but I don't think that all the media attention to Madoff is undeserved, given that this fraud is nearly the size of Enron in terms of shareholder losses.
And besides, a lot of the talk is not just about how large the fraud was, but about how he managed to get away with it so long under the nose of supposedly "sophisticated" investors who had hired auditors to look at the books. - plaguepony, on 01/09/2009, -1/+5Bearer bonds are no longer used in the United States due to taxation issues.
- mr5150, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4whilst i agree with you, he only employed a scheme (ponzi) that every socialized federal government has been doing for years...it's call the "social security system".
- jhails, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Gitmo his ass. Or alternatively there is a new facility opening up in Baghram Afghanistan. I hear its nice this time of year!
- roho76, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Obama will pardon him right before his last day in the White House be it in 4 or 8 years. You know how much money this guy gave to Democrats?
- dzw120, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4How did the $50 billion not exist? We're not talking about an equity valuation; $50 billion was put in Madoff's hands by investors, and vanished over the years as he pocketed some and used the rest of perpetuate the Ponzi scheme.
- 11oops, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Look under the dog kennels...
- yujie, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Next to Jimmy Hoffa?
- JayA, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4This is man who was able to fool some of the most intelligent and prudent among us. We have to understand that he absolutely has more money hiding somewhere that we will never find.
- monkeyrun, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4His family would.
- UWSA, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Madoff should be in jail along with all of his buddies. That is most of the people at Goldman Sachs, Citi Bank, Stanley Morgan, Leyman Brothers, Henry Paulson, Robert Rubin and all of the rest of his cronies. They all should be in jail and all of their assets seized. The list is huge. Send em all to jail and quick. They all should be sent to Joe Arpio's tent city.
- dvsbastard, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4I dugg up this article, but didn't find his loot... :(
- Rustymetal, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3lol really dig down? how is he wrong?
- Shaggy3, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4Can we start calling him a pirate now?
- toshimonkey, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Because he lives in America... a country designed BY the greedy, FOR the greedy.
- troye, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2My guess is the Govament is waiting for some of his victims to get him. It reduces the amount of paper work.
- haikuFU, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2Look a Tom Petters. What a dumbass. He's a dick. But at what point do you say "I have enough" and flee?
- troye, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2that would be funny
- TheMachine1, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3He invested it all in a new ponzi scheme based on a warehouse full of Bakugans that he is selling on Ebay. He got the idea from his great grandson.
- troye, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2All those rich people are just waiting to exact revenge on Madoff.
Those filthy rich people can be some of the most filthy people in existence and act like wild animals but still wear a business suit.
Bernie is gonna get his... for sure. - inajeep, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2The real trick is getting that much money first.
