- thirdcoastborn, on 07/07/2008, -13/+58False News is a Joke
- alapoet, on 07/07/2008, -13/+55Fox "News" shouldn't even be allowed to call itself "News" -- because that is false advertising.
Fox "News" is nothing more than cheap tabloid entertainment -- and badly done, even for that. - mlhams, on 07/08/2008, -12/+44Fox News is to news journalism what the "Church" of Scientology is to religion.
- lysdexia, on 07/08/2008, -6/+21Here, in the UK, I love the way Fox News represents the American citizen.
It really is funny as *****!
Of course, I'm working on the assumption that no one in the USA actually takes Fox News seriously in any way. That is true, right? - inactive, on 07/08/2008, -10/+25Fox is truly scary. By far even scarier are the ratings it generates.
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -4/+18They mean "News" sarcastically.
- iCoty, on 07/08/2008, -6/+17Fox News needs to die.
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -5/+16And the fact that you are conservative gasbag has nothing to do with you defending Fox "News" and equating it with MSNBC & CNN. Nothing at all.
- brickbat, on 07/08/2008, -6/+17As a non-American, when I see Fox News I am amazed that Americans actually watch and believe this *****. But then I see the devolving state of Australian and Dutch and UK news and then I think how easy we are to manipulate. We non-Americans should be pointing fingers and highlighting the truth but we must also be vigilant because I see the seeds of the same disaster spreading around the globe.
- WoollyMittens, on 07/08/2008, -7/+15Everybody in the world, except a (slight) majority of Americans, think it's rather obvious how Fox New is a propaganda outlet.
What have they done to you to obfuscate such obvious subjectivity. - xexx, on 07/08/2008, -4/+13Pay more attention then, obvious difference is obvious.
- wizbor, on 07/08/2008, -5/+12Interesting, NYT also has this headline today, "A Clintonian at Fox, Howard Wolfson top strategist of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton....says I thought that Fox’s coverage during the primary was comprehensive and fair and evenhanded”
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/07/wolf ...
Wonder why this isnt on the front page of digg as well? - Azerael, on 07/08/2008, -2/+9Do more thinking, less weights, and you'll understand.
- GreatSunJester, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6Really? A news outlet with a political bias? NO... Not in America! No news outlet would trade journalistic integrity for political ideology. Never.
- flashback99, on 07/08/2008, -2/+8Free speech does not mean intelligent speech.
- sassip, on 07/08/2008, -3/+9@0h, Stick to at least some of the facts. If you think that drawing mustaches on photos is "responsible journalism," well then, all the quotes you can dig up are quite "upside down!"
- mithrasinvictus, on 07/08/2008, -4/+10direct link to the photos: http://mediamatters.org/items/200807020002
- aftern9ne, on 07/08/2008, -5/+10It ain't some exclusive club, buddy. People hate Fox News because every host or 'analyst' is a Republican slimeball who shoves the hate and ignorance into the hungry mouths of the American public.
I might be a little biased myself, but at least I'm not running a news organization. - inactive, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6Why oh why would anyone hate Fox news?
- jstem1994, on 07/08/2008, -2/+7I guess "the right" have to resort to calling us "dopey" 3 or 4 times. Enjoy your "dopey" president in November. :)
- grandmaz, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6people still watch tv for their news?
- humanerror, on 07/08/2008, -5/+10The New York Times is the exact same ***** in a different bucket.
Any time you try to produce news for profit, you get the same *****. Because a lot of what people need to know is not profitable. In fact, a lot what people really need to know--like the origin of the PR industry, and the corporate media's role in selling wars to the public--is downright unprofitable. So it doesn't get reported.
Speaking of which, can you spot the New York Times coverage of the Dennis Kucinich's articles of impeachment against president Bush?
No, no you can't. - kingsal, on 07/08/2008, -8/+12Faux News
The thing that scares me is that Fox News can be seen outside of the US, including in the Middle East, and I wonder that these people think of us after watching the crap Fox News puts on. - Kanele, on 07/08/2008, -2/+6because you didn't post it yet? what are you waiting for?
- OrigamiRonin, on 07/08/2008, -1/+5I don't understand your reasoning. NYT admitted a handful of writers made up stories, yes. They proceeded to write a pretty lengthy story about how they screwed up and are taking measures to hopefully prevent the same from happening again.
More than just a reporter in the field making stuff up unbeknownst to the management, Fox news orders such behavior from the top down and then goes to court and wins a case solidifying their right to make stuff up and report it as news.
NYT screwed up, plain and simple. I would not even dream of defending them or giving them a pass on it. For anyone to try to use that as a way of deflecting attention from Fox and their screw-ups, I mean deliberate falsifications, is just laughable and sad. You really, really come off as a tool if that's the best argument you can come up with. When NYT failed us they at least fessed up to it. Fox news' reaction is essentially "So what. We can say whatever we want."
Judge Fox on it own merits. Don't try to point the finger at someone else. - aftern9ne, on 07/08/2008, -5/+9Give me a break. If Fox News was balanced they would have at least one liberal with his own show. Hell, they had to keep Colmes' mouth shut by putting him on Hannity's leash.
- Dorepoll, on 07/08/2008, -3/+6You haven't seen Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism, I take it? Or is that more liberal clap trap.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 07/08/2008, -1/+4Fox Propaganda would be more accurate...
- LoveWidescreen, on 07/08/2008, -3/+6What the hell, people!! The New York Times saying that Fox News has no integrity?! **THIS** coming from a news organization that ADMITTED that its writers falsified stories?!! Yet this hits the front page and gets loaded with complains about Fox News?!
God damn it, I despise the hypocrisy of Digg users! - humanerror, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Read your own link. That's from April of 2007, and refers to Dick Cheney, not George Bush.
- WoollyMittens, on 07/08/2008, -3/+6I love how obvious it is that The Cash came back and dug every one of you down one. :)
- Andysan, on 07/08/2008, -2/+5It seems the lefties have some unmet need for a religion of sorts. They have their Obama god, their Fox devil, their New York Times bible, their goofy priests scattered all over the Internet, and, lest we forget, their hate America message.
Now if there were just some way to get this crazy cult to drink the coolaid. - floorman56, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3Yea ...Right
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/0 ... - FLUX, on 07/08/2008, -3/+5NY times whining about the bias of Fox news
now that is the pot calling the kettle black, NY Times is one of the most liberally biased papers in the country and they admit it - desertDenizen, on 07/08/2008, -3/+5Not much foxy about it either.
- mwrl, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Look in the mirror. See that tin foil hat and the Kool-Aid you drinking? That is Liberalism and your a sucker for it.
- facereplacer, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3Fox news is bad, hate-sodden propaganda and all, but this is the 3rd time this article has hit the front page.
all different headlines. - Hangly, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3No need to take sides. They're both propaganda outlets and they're both equally worthless.
Fox might be more bombastic, but the New York Times has still supported every war the US has ever fought. They serve up the exact same message to different audiences. - anubis2night, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3What's more scary is not that they are known to change their stories up that takes place regularly which is why you must look beyond the article you read from anywhere and if your really interested in the subject research it a bit yourself. But what makes them more than just culpable is that they do this with a purpose and while we see they have the ear of the current political leadership and so they wield a bit of power they've used this power to bully an entire nations news industry. Thats the industry is tired of their behavior and see's a end in sight with Bush's reign nearly over we are finally seeing other news sites take a stand and speak up against them. I'm hoping to see a documentary of what really goes on at Fox news and their involvement with the Bush administration. Of course even if it's made we would still need to check those facts represented for ourselves. And I've tried to watch a bit of Fox news, speaking as a former republican minded person whose gone independent, I can't see how anyone could sit thru Host's who are constantly screaming and talking over their guest's. And what's up with reporting something when you don't know anything about it? I caught a couple of pieces about video games and my god, these people are idiots. It's truly scary that people with no experience nor research about a subject could be given a soapbox and asked to not only express their opinion but then parade it around as facts to so many fellow Americans. But I guess it's true it's easier to sell hate mongering and fear than it is to actually do the research and report the news.
- craighoxton, on 07/08/2008, -4/+6What's the difference between a Fox News anchor and a hooker?
The hooker stops after an hour. - Suricou, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3No, you just *think* liberals have it all. Most news is moderate, but...
To a liberal, all moderates are conservative.
To a conservative, all moderates are liberal.
Being moderate is very unpleasant, because both liberals and conservatives regard you as on the side of their enemies. - iamthearm, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I think both of these orginizations need to focus on news and not opinions. They are both to blame for shady reporting. I do like that Fox News pisses off liberals even though I am in the middle on a lot of issues.
- mwrl, on 07/08/2008, -2/+4Typical, the truth is buried by the left. At least if Obama wins the election we know the Demorats will not win anything for years. He is full of fail!
- sjm20k, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1yes but thats not real news - i noted that when i said most of the mainstream media is pretty shameful. just because something is successful, doesn't make it good. fox news isn't news - it's entertainment for "conservative" people. the new york times at least has a higher semblance of newsworthiness as a newspaper, albeit not a ton. there is no definitive place to get the news. information control.
- Hangly, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1The propaganda of those countries is crude, and immediately recognizable as propaganda.
The US and other western countries use more psychological kinds of propaganda that aren't as easy to identify. In the US alone advertising is a trillion dollar a year industry. Clearly someone thinks it's effective. - evilgourmet, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3never underestimate the 'red-neck' power to fear and hate.Their power to reproduce more rednecks at an astonishing rate is also a key to future FOX viewers.
- sjm20k, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1you are aware of fox's news's massive bias right? it's not news at all - it's been shown again and again just how heinous their reporting is - but i suppose you don't keep up with any of that stuff. honestly most of the mainstream outlets are horrible sources for current events - if you want a semblance of a clue you need to take in as much as humanly possible and use your head to figure out whats actually going on. taking fox news's word on anything is intellectual suicide.
