Then the person or group who controls the currency, controls the world. - richmomz, on 04/07/2009, -9/+308"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes the laws." -Mayer Amschel Rothschild

- amabaie, on 04/06/2009, -24/+207It's an intriguing argument. If one opposes a global currency because there are vast differences in productivity, debt and other factors from one country to the next, why would New York, Iowa and Texas all share the same currency? Or New Brunswick and Alberta? And are the problems presented by the Euro "better" problems than when Europe had a fractured currency network, or are they worse problems? I'm not sure these will be easy questions to answer.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -6/+159It's definitely a fun idea.
Name it "Credits" and suddenly all science fiction books and movies in the 20th century will be accurate. - Opiate, on 04/07/2009, -8/+150Good way to destroy worldwide sovereignty, intended I'm sure.
- Daedalus81, on 04/07/2009, -3/+145And who would control that currency? What organization would you trust to manage the money system of the entire globe?
- EricDrawback, on 04/07/2009, -8/+137Control the money, control the people.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -8/+135The world did share common currency at one time - it was gold and silver.
Trouble was that various rulers would get greedy and start debasing the coinage. The same thing can happen with a common fiat currency. All they have to do is relax lending standards or reserve requirements. Instant inflation.
When it was Gold, it didn't inflate the currency - people just stopped accepting coinage from that realm. A common fiat currency wouldn't have that feature. - MrInfallible, on 04/07/2009, -4/+112Zimbabwae central bank? I heard everyone in Zimbabwae was a Billionaire these days.

- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -6/+100The main problem with a 'global currency' is the abolishment of sovereignty and economic power.
If you haven't figured it out yet.. the economy is directly related to the money supply.
Booms = low interest rates, expanded money supply, lots of loans.
Busts = high interest rates, contracted money supply, defaults on loans.
By giving the power to a small bunch of elite to decided what is the 'right' money supply is like giving a big shiny dagger to a convicted murderer.
The same bunch of elite 'economists' have absolutely f*cked the system time after time. They are no good. They act in their own interests, create these artificial collapses and use the information to profit absurdly.
FYI, Greenspan created this mess by expanding the money supply (by setting interest rates at 1%). He created all the follow-on effects and exacerbated existing problems. He was the guy who lit the fuse to the bomb. - sprNmgcHlmt, on 04/07/2009, -26/+102didn't you hear, we're already making plans for this. along with taking everyone's guns and putting everyone in re-education camps.

"It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world
if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years.
But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a
world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite
and world bankers is surely preferable to the national
auto-determination practiced in past centuries."
-David Rockefeller
“Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.” -- David Rockefeller (Found on page 405 of his memoirs) - fendereff, on 04/07/2009, -4/+74Sure is.

- Firebird2k6, on 04/07/2009, -7/+71What a dumb idea
- akchrs, on 04/07/2009, -11/+74Why don't we use the same currency? Probably because no one wants to stand around putting 5000 drakmars in a soda machine to get a Pepsi.
- boxxa, on 04/07/2009, -5/+64I am starting my own currency. everyone send me $1,000 and I will give you 1 million bollers.

- DirtySyko, on 04/07/2009, -11/+68No way bro. This is exactly what Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall want.
- smemily, on 04/07/2009, -3/+60That is the problem with ANY currency. There is nothing on the earth with "fixed value" that could properly back a currency. Even land and gold, finite as they are, are worth only whatever people say they're worth - just like currency!
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -2/+56He who controls the spice, controls the universe.

- yarcod, on 04/07/2009, -3/+551. End of national sovereignty. Now that our money is tied so closely together, our governments will be too. Nations will fight it, but over time it will be a world government without any local control. Exactly like the loss of states rights in the US.
2. Undoubtedly, one small group will control the world's money supply. They will hide their actions under the guise of keeping world politics out of their monetary policy. (Identical system as the Federal Reserve System in the United States)
3. The currency, like all paper currencies, will eventually hyper-inflate... and all of our eggs will be in one basket. - inactive, on 04/07/2009, -14/+65look what's happened with the euro - the poor countries are subsidized by the good ones.

Edit. No its boring. Sorry. - snowmang902, on 04/07/2009, -27/+70What if the world all used the same currency? We would have our first step towards the New World Order then we all get to be Illuminati ass slaves, fook that

Feel free to add to the list, I'm sure I've missed something. - inactive, on 04/07/2009, -12/+51So is homosexuality but that's been around for millennia and I don't see any horses ***** out famine.
- jugger74, on 04/07/2009, -14/+52There is no way on earth this should happen. The same tyrants that have created the crisis we are in now would be the criminals that run the new system. If you want a glimpse into your future under an IMF system just look at Africa or type in "Argentina Economic collapse" to Google. If we as a society allow this to happen we doom our children for generations to come to poverty and enslavement to the global banking scum of the world.
- omenmedia, on 04/07/2009, -19/+55This is really ***** scary. I'm one to subscribe to alternative theories regarding some things (I think the official account of 9/11 is deeply flawed, for instance, to say the least), but I've always thought that anything related to a NWO was reserved for the real whack jobs. But, um... lately I'm seeing more and more of this kinda thing in the main stream media, and quite frankly, that scares the living ***** out of me.
- tedbohne, on 04/06/2009, -18/+53Well, it would bring more to a global community than almost anything else. The only problem with fiat currency is there is nothing of FIXED VALUE to keep in reserve. Not gold either. The world governments would have to agree on something tangible that all agree on a specific value that would never change regardless of goofups by any governments including the US.
- donotclickjim, on 04/07/2009, -1/+35One Currency to rule them all,
