- ArnDawg, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2Wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy... well maybe my WORST enemy...
- cyandle, on 07/30/2008, -0/+2Am sorry it happened to you! I'm not so sure that I would use BofA anymore after that happened to me. :)
- Wulffy, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2Almost incredible...
- PixelBella, on 07/30/2008, -0/+2Oh, gosh... So very sad. Chris had no fault here, and this has surely changed his life.
I share the following to possibly help others. I was a victim of fraud in late 2005 with BofA - $7K withdrawn from my business account. My ATM account # was sold on the Internet. They put a stop on additional attempts but never contacted me. BofA's limit of responsibility on ATM transactions for a business account, at that time, was $7,500, and they offered no help. I spent days tracking this down and was able to get the money back only because it was a "Robin Hood" crime - money was given to a Parish in NJ. Time spent closing accounts, reports with the FBI, letters to credit bureaus, etc. - life stops around you. What Chris experienced had to be even worse.
Point for all: Contact your bank and reduce the amount of $ that can be withdrawn from your ATM card. Also, I rarely use an ATM card anymore. However, this doesn't resolve the fake ID issue. - billspaced, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1ID theft is so ugly. Plenty of companies out there claiming they can "prevent ID theft." Anybody out there a customer? I'd like to hear if any of them live up to their promise (though I guess you'll never know until...you become a victim).
- abennert, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1A little late for Chris but http://www.gethuman.com/gethuman_list.asp is a great resource for shortcutting through automated phone systems.
- barrett1, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1First Chris, I am very sorry this happened to you what a nightmare.
I HATE!!! customer service in the United States. When I lived in London and worked for a large corproration we were always flying high priced consultants over from the US to help us improve our cusotmer services these so called guru's are just as full of it as the people they claim to train to be high performing customer service staff. It's all fake and bull. The banks, the credit card companies, the utilites (Cox) do not care one bit. The airlines are a joke try getting some sympathy form an airline employee when you are delayed 10 hours at Chicago airport again!!!....I have had some of the worst customer service ever in my life in London but I have also had some of the best, when its bad its bad and you never go back but when its good its genuine and you actually feel valued. Here in Arizona its consistently rotten or totally fake. - fakeidguy, on 08/11/2008, -0/+0The truth about fake id templates
