Webmaster World PubCon Las Vegas 2006 - How I Learned I am an SEO Loser
seoloser.com — I flew out of SJC (San Jose) heading to my first PubCon ever. I was very excited —I’ve been doing SEO for years but never shelled out the money to attend a full event. I eagerly awaited my chance to meet the people I listen to on Webmaster Radio and SEO authors I read (like Shoemoney, Oilman, Web Guerilla, Aaron Wall of SEO Book, rand [SEOMoz] etc.)

- SearchStudent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude, this was hilarious. Rae is actually pretty cool, I think she was having a tough time dealing with some crap there tho. Either way, your take still makes for a really funny blog.
BTW- that german dude was laughing at me too at 9 fine. I don't know who he is, but I don't think he likes me very much lol - kkibak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great! I'm having an awesome time getting these comments both here and on the blog itself.. this is pretty much my first blog (like I said in the post, I totally missed that wave) and I was hoping some people might get a kick out of the story... I actually found that I was laughing at the scene (and my own fumbles / embarrassments) over and over again when I was there.
Also, about Rae--I hope I'm not offending her (or anyone) with some of the opinions--I just tried to be as honest as I could and expressed my feelings in a way that reflected how I felt at the conference. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she actually is a very nice person--what I wrote in the blog is just the impression I got from her at the panel.
Anyway thanks again for the comments! - HawaiiSEO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That was great!
I didn't know who any one was at my first conference. I ran into quite a few big names and started asking them all kinds of basic questions not knowing who I was speaking with. So... No chance to be star struck. Everyone was totally cool and very helpful. - davidmihm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had the same situation as HawaiiSEO @ SES San Jose this year. Adam Lasnik just came up and started talking to me and a couple of other people I went with. He was just shooting the breeze, and I had absolutely NO idea who he was. I even asked him what he did & where he worked, I was so clueless. I think by-and-large the "rockstars" in this industry are far more down to earth than they would be in another industry...
