A guy can dream a little can't he? - inactive, on 11/05/2009, -0/+14"Weak Economy Means Ads On TV Will Suffer AND BE LOUDER THAN BEFORE"
fixd - sniffymcdougle, on 11/04/2009, -0/+13Isn't it good news when a market returns to normalcy?
- FritoPendejo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+12I kinda miss the days when every commercial didn't have to have some joke with a hook at the end. They just showed a guy drinking a coke and said it tasted good. Now it has to be some over-the-top talking animal crap.
- mnortei, on 11/05/2009, -2/+14Who watches TV anymore?
- wilhoitm, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11If I see one of those freecreditreport.com commercials again I just might go postal!
- FritoPendejo, on 11/05/2009, -3/+11We need to come up with a new mental disorder where the person believes that everyone else is a sheep and only they can see through the ***** in life.
- stockwitch, on 11/04/2009, -0/+8That doesn't mean the creative of the ads will suffer. That just means that media buyers will get more broadcast time for their $.
- chriswastaken, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7"Ads will suffer on TV" says a newspaper.
- govtdoesnotwork, on 11/05/2009, -1/+7As a taxpayer, I'm tired of financing "Ditech.com" ads. Spam would probably be less annoying & equally effective.
- dtele, on 11/05/2009, -1/+6The ads won't suffer as much as the viewing public will suffer cheaper and nastier ads.
- borez, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Ads will suffer... OMG say it's not so.
How will I live without the daily overload of film making genius trying to sell me stuff.
/s - mparker21311, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5GOOD
- theOster, on 11/05/2009, -0/+41995 was pretty much my last year of gross amounts of tv consumption. then i went to college and upon graduating i realized that i have no attention span for tv. then my friends start telling me to watch all the new sitcoms (arrested, how i met, sunny in philly, office) and WTF is with the shaky camera syndrome?? its like they have it on some tripod that jsut follows a "shake algorithm" (slightly wavy, then turn/pan to new subject, zoom in slightly, wavy..., zoom out a bit, pan...)
- Cepster, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Is that some sort of ***** up haiku?
- RatatRatR, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Those are quite possibly the worst, I agree.
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -2/+5This is a strong economy, the tv said so.
- bigteebo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Instead of car commercials every 8 minutes, we will now only see them every 10 minutes. Boo hoo. *insert Billy Mays reference here*
- jimrooney, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Sounds pretty accurate.
I gotta say though... who really cares about the plight of the poor poor marketers?
I say good. It's Darwin in action. They'll put on more and more crap, so advertisers will do less and less, so they'll put on worse crap.... endgame?... people just move on to something else. It's like the death of newspaper... who cares? Let it die. - TheUngod, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3The worst part is, the fact they keep advertising means it's probably working.
- Bloodwine, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3It'd be too much to hope that this spells the end for informercials.
- RIPtechtv, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Its a fairly bad cycle at the moment. I have a cousin who works for the accounting department at CBS. He was telling me no one wants to advertise unless they are 100% sure its going to draw ratings like a football game. Its because of that the networks do not want to risk putting on higher quality more expensive shows. It has been suck in this loop and has been getting slowly getting worse since around 2001.
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3I know, I don't have time for TV when I am out at the club all the time screwing hot bitches.
- borez, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2My grandma.
- Bloodwine, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I don't care if I am larger, but performing better...
- mehan, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2how are they going to do that now that BILLY MAYS is dead?
- adamjordanevans, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Nothing to do with internet advertising spend exceeding TV advertising??
http://www.thedomains.com/2009/10/01/a-new-first-i ... - blindhammer, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Hopefully this won't lead to more Extenze commercials. Anything but that. Please. *sobs*
- trashymac, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Just torrent it and you don't even have to pick up the remote to fast-forward through the ads because there aren't any!
- neutron7, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2HA HA! your medium is dying!
- surdelmundo, on 11/05/2009, -5/+6digg does not convey a sense of authority to the herd. TV does.
digg carries all flavors of opinion. TV airs a narrow band of opinion favored by the Washington elite. - Sebastian20, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1They will always tell you that there is some kind of recovery and maybe it will even seem that there was 'economic growth', but that is part of the game called 'monetary-based economy'. It will get worse.
- Zaxcomp, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Not louder, employ more compression.
- Dunnston, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1I really want to hope that the market next year will be more stable.
- PeppermintPig, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Don't worry, they can still fill that time with Government PSA's!!
- bmfuller03, on 11/19/2009, -0/+1Although television advertising like radio advertising is struggling there is some good that come with it. For instance small businesses that are struggling may be able to afford the lower cost of the advertising. Now that the price for a commercial is nearly 33% less that the norm, small businesses can thrive because of it. This downturn in TV and Radio, can set a small business apart from their competitors by using the media channels to be their voice to the local communities. For small business articles you can read my blog at http://www.finditlocal411.com/blog
- Sebastian20, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1ask yourself WHY they can't afford that much advertising... in an economy which sees human labor as something that needs to be rewarded in money - within a world that works towards technological advancement, making many jobs obsolete (of course it will get worse the more tech advances) - the people will eventually not have enough money to buy anything. This is one symptom of a complex socio-economic condition facilitated by the one invention that we all so praise and love, yes, it even out-values human health. I hope I don't sound too wise-assy but I think it is important for everyone to understand that there are alternatives to money, which served its purpose but it's time for a change.
- Sebastian20, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Could you please inform yourself about how our monetary-based economy (google that it's so easy) works and please read about the resource-based economy after that return here to tell me what you think.
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Another good thing about this econony, cheap TVs themselves.
- seobro, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1What you talking about, right now we have an economic WREAKcovery!
- awfl, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Would broadcasters would stop transmitting if no one bought their air time?
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11
- DJMattB241, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Awwww poor babies...
- bmfuller03, on 11/19/2009, -0/+1Absolutely agree, take a look at some of my blog posts. http://www.finditlocal411.com/blog
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -1/+1edit
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -1/+1@brad Thats cause they were lying(as they do with most issues) about it with ***** eating grins, glad handing Democrats, laughing while smoking cigars all the way to the bank.
- jonfhutson, on 11/18/2009, -0/+0Television Advertising Is Dead. Long Live Television Advertising.
http://brandculturetalk.com/2009/11/17/television- ... - mike123er, on 11/11/2009, -0/+0Well it looks like these companies are going to pump more funds into the online advertising space as it is alot cheaper making it hard for the smaller advertiser to increse their brand awareness..find out the future marketing trends at..www.contextured.com
