WTF : 12 dollars to fill up my lawn mower
tribbleagency.com — You know something is wrong out there when it costs as much to fill up my lawn mower now as it did to fill up my car in 2005.

- d1gg3r1, on 06/17/2008, -1/+5$12 to fill the mower?? I think I'll just pay the neighbor's kid to cut my grass for $10 :)
- Kamujin, on 06/17/2008, -2/+4Sorry, the current supply / demand imbalance of crude oil has been predicted repeatedly for the last 20 years. Shame on you if your surprised that it finally arrived.
- Jesus2007, on 06/17/2008, -1/+6Too expensive. A neighbor dug up all her grass and planted flowers and a few ornamental grasses that do not get cut. Threw away her lawn mower.
- badNetAdmin, on 06/17/2008, -5/+6Sorry, but it doesn't cost $12 to fill your mower. Those things hold a gallon or less of fuel...even lawn tractors typically hold 2 gallons or less. If you're so concerned, buy a reel mower...
http://www.sunlawn.com/- PatrickJonathan, on 06/17/2008, -1/+1Just a guess or rather what i assumed , but i think it actually was the cost to fill the red gas can in the lower right, not the mower.
- badNetAdmin, on 06/17/2008, -1/+2I'm sure you're right...my point was that it still isn't that expensive...you can probably run a mower for an hour on about $2 to $3 of fuel. The title comes across as rather alarmist.
The bigger problem is the pollution emitted by gas mowers...
I personally don't use my gas mower anymore, as I have purchased one of the push mowers from the link I posted above.

- Crosshare, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Exactly, this blogspam is inaccurate *****. It costs about 4-6 dollars to fill a mower right now. While filling your average car in 2005 was probably between 30-50.

- PatrickJonathan, on 06/17/2008, -0/+8How about this $50+ to fill a Commercial Mower once! :O
I'm a former GrassCutter/Landscaper and all of my friends who are still in the business have told me they have been forced to raise rates across the board due to gas prices. Everything from the cost to fill the mower to the cost to fill the truck and get to the lawn is squeezing them at both ends. - ajs508, on 06/17/2008, -2/+5just fill it with gatorade! .........that way it won't rot your teeth!........ and besides gatorade is what plants crave!
- GrandmasterB, on 06/17/2008, -0/+7Time to get a goat!
- JasonPeck, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1I'd rather have a cow, but I like your thinking.
- greytfriend, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1They're supposed to be very affectionate. But not discriminating in their eating - keep them away from the ornamentals.
- StingingNettle, on 06/17/2008, -2/+4Rip up that stupid green lawn, that's an environmental disaster anyway and plant some vegetables and native plants.
- cuzzy, on 06/17/2008, -0/+5I am liking the idea of a goat as GrandmasterB said or one of those push mowers.
- badNetAdmin, on 06/17/2008, -1/+2Push mower FTW! Bought one last year...best way to mow the lawn...you can even safely mow your lawn in flip-flops!
- greytfriend, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1But you really have to keep up with it, right? I read that they don't work well when the grass gets high.
- badNetAdmin, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2It's really not that bad. I probably end up cutting a day earlier than I would have with the old gas mower. It ends up being every 4 days during the fastest growth...after that it can be 5 or 6 days between cutting.

- rgladstein, on 06/17/2008, -2/+4Your car has a 6-gallon tank?
- badNetAdmin, on 06/17/2008, -1/+3Mathematics in this post are severely lacking.
- cinnie2218, on 06/17/2008, -1/+1i think he might have meant 1998 or so....gas was hovering around $1.00 a gallon then. I think the point trying to be made is that gas has increased 400% in the last 10 years...
- louiebaur, on 06/17/2008, -1/+6$12 your getting off easy it cost $17 to fill up mine!
- audieattar, on 06/17/2008, -1/+3WTF? People, we need to make our voices heard! Brazil is energy self sufficient and uses Sugar for E-85 Ethanol, and has an abundance of sugar cane to produce natural and energy resources. Chevy, and other major American car makers already have the technology to support this effort, we are being held at ransom by the major oil companies and the politicians who support them!
- manzplan, on 06/17/2008, -0/+4I have sheep.. llama.. donkey... 2 miniature horses.. and still it takes me 1 hour + to mow the lawn...
- davidhallstrom, on 06/17/2008, -0/+2Maybe he should use an electric mower or an old fashioned muscle powered mower. Either would cut down on pollution and noise. Plus save money.
- kavutu, on 06/17/2008, -1/+1I have 2 acre's of lawn and mow it every 3 days. Love to ride around on the mower and spew fumes leaving a carbon footprint the size of Hillays butt!! use more gas, cut more grass!!! Global warming is a myth and so is the fuel shortage. Your all being taken for a ride at your own expense. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
