- Horious, on 10/21/2009, -11/+310Graphs are nothing without numbers.
- OmNomNomBACON, on 10/21/2009, -6/+144In Soviet Russia, numbers are nothing without graphs.
- executex, on 10/20/2009, -13/+89In Soviet Russia, money earns you and spends it freely.
- awhiteflame, on 10/21/2009, -3/+67Numbers would be cool..
- StigNordas, on 10/20/2009, -2/+46So, there's an inverse relationship between Broadband Users and Paid Maternity Leave? Makes perfect sense.
- TheHIV, on 10/21/2009, -1/+31Buried for graphs that mean absolutely nothing. The ratios on some of them don't even make sense!
- johnwayne1, on 10/20/2009, -9/+39I'm getting so burnt out on bad news. Whether it's our declining dollar, rising debt, or foreign companies buying up american companies like it's a fire sale, it's killing my morale.
- charlietuna, on 10/21/2009, -3/+30Dear Russia,
As long as Russian and Ukrainian women look like Milla Jovovich, the west will never consider an assault. Keep up the good work. - Lefts, on 10/21/2009, -0/+26I don't know. Russia exports more than it imports, which I think is good.
- DLit, on 10/21/2009, -1/+25Who the ***** judged happiness?
- oddlyzero, on 10/20/2009, -6/+30The dollar just needs a new sexy face. Washington's tired old mug is out....maybe a sexy porn star "money" shot?
- ilikeeggs8877, on 10/21/2009, -1/+24thats assuming the graphs start at 0 which makes perfect sense to you and me, but I can think of a number of instances where companies will skew their axis's to make themselves look better. One example that comes to mind was a graph comparing performance between amd and nvidia graphics cards. I don't remember which company had the graph but the numbers were something like 40 fps vs 45 fps but were shown on a graph with an axis starting at 35 so one of the bars literally looked twice as tall as the other.
/my 2cents - cheddaro, on 10/21/2009, -0/+23For a split second, I thought the thumbnail was a Tetris screenshot, and I thought "Oh man, America is so *****."
- UV0001, on 10/21/2009, -0/+22Forget judging it, how the hell do you quantify it?
- geoboy, on 10/21/2009, -0/+20It must be because we clap our hands a lot. We're happy and we know it.
- whiteyMcBrown, on 10/21/2009, -14/+33I wouldn't say NOTHING. You do get to compare two representations. I can see where one country does something double what another country does or a third of another.
- thebigal, on 10/21/2009, -1/+20It's impossible to tell the scale of the graphs though. You don't really know where one country does twice what the other does unless you have some point of reference.
- theartfuldodgr, on 10/21/2009, -1/+19This chart is completely meaningless without any numbers. Ok so Russia has a big bar for growth rate and US has a small one. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?!? Graphic representations are good as an aide, but meaningless without data.
- sangjmoon, on 10/21/2009, -1/+18Just goes to show you that roller coasters is a measure of happiness but alcohol consumption isn't.
- Phernoree, on 10/21/2009, -2/+18those prawns will stop at nothing for cat food.
- record200, on 10/21/2009, -0/+15The west?
The West like the East is not the same, not homogeneous, never has been.
There were no better friends than The United States and Russia all the time up to 20th century from a diplomatic, military, economic, humane points of view. (common enemies, common interests)
The 20th century was a difficult time for all of us, yet The United States and Russia were good allies when it was necessary like in WW2.
Russia has abandoned the idea of spreading communism and communism itself and has made good progress since then. I hope the USA will abandon the idea of imposing "democracy" on the other nations at least militarily.
That way any fears of assault can be made deprecated and lost in the end and the tradition of good relationships fully restored. - Ugotownedo, on 10/21/2009, -0/+15Look, I'm sorry about what happened to your friend, but don't try to downplay what's going on through his head. What johnwayne1 said is also a problem, even if your problem seems worse.
A lower morale causes a low self-confidence level in everybody, which leads to hopelessness, leading to people stop trying to fix the world's problems and ultimately, a less satisfactory life for everyone. - record200, on 10/21/2009, -1/+16Whatever. She is Slavic , the Slavic ppl are practically all beautiful
- Arramol, on 10/21/2009, -0/+14Look at the bright side: we have WAY more roller coasters than they do.
- Lefts, on 10/21/2009, -2/+15"Happiness"?
Why do you have to invalidate your own work with something like that? - salinemist, on 10/21/2009, -3/+16Russian GDP: 1.29 Trillion
US GDP 13.84 Trillion
CIA Factbook
Yeah, economic powerhouse. - CptBuck, on 10/21/2009, -0/+13Needs WAAAAAY more explanation. Per Capita what? What is stock of money? Do they mean foreign currency reserves? etc.
- Crossmenjeff, on 10/21/2009, -2/+15yeah, why does everything appear on digg at least twice?
/s - HugeBalls, on 10/21/2009, -3/+16Do you have a fetish for saggy ***** covered in grease and bacon oil?
- Megadeth222, on 10/21/2009, -1/+13I'm also wandering how exactly happiness is measured. We are sooo kicking their ass in happiness LOOK HOW HAPPY I AM +1 point to the US.
- hokie47, on 10/21/2009, -1/+13What kind of ***** graphs are these? I have seen down syndrome kids in elementary school come up with a more precise and scientific graphs than this *****. Look you have the x and y axis, and normally you give a scale and label the axises.
- reefsurfer226, on 10/21/2009, -1/+13why does everything appear on digg at least twice?
digg has the memory of a gold fish.. all of 12 seconds - MatzahMan, on 10/21/2009, -1/+12Those charts fail. The comparison is a waste of time without some sort of scale.
- Long189, on 10/21/2009, -2/+13Another one of these numberless-bar-graph infographics? mint.com is really dropping the ball...
- charlietuna, on 10/21/2009, -0/+11@HugeBalls
Bacon is always good! - 4rp4n3t, on 10/21/2009, -0/+11American boobs? What, like silicone?
- Horious, on 10/21/2009, -1/+12That is precisely my problem, without numbers, there is no way of knowing that B truly is twice the value of A. Not all bar graphs are proportionate, and there for can be deceiving in their representations.
- mibi, on 10/21/2009, -0/+10The legend is in the title. efficiency ftw.
- sonicpentatonic, on 10/21/2009, -1/+11What if the scale starts at $150 and A has $152 while B has $154, but it still looks like B has twice A.
- TheHIV, on 10/21/2009, -1/+10Imports and exports. Shows a diff of at least 1/3. Right now our trade deficit is around 14%. Even at is peak in the last few years its never reached 30%. Either these graphs are picking and choosing very specific numbers which they don't give in an undetermined timeframe, or they are complete BS. Either way, buried.
- Phernoree, on 10/21/2009, -2/+11that goes a little something like this http://imgur.com/2Dd46.jpg (mildly - NSFW)
- brad3378, on 10/21/2009, -0/+9At least the Stock market is recovering.
Isn't that good news? - Leonffs, on 11/20/2009, -0/+8As number of roller coasters goes up the amount of happy people goes up. COINCIDENCE?
- Horious, on 10/21/2009, -1/+9You may think what sonic said is stupid, but that trick is used all the time in politics to mislead people.
- MxM111, on 10/21/2009, -0/+8You sure that it is about Soviet Russia and not about US?
- Dodobutt222, on 10/21/2009, -0/+8COUNT THE PIXELS!
- UV0001, on 10/21/2009, -1/+9Graphs need a scale so it can be determined whether or not the represented data is misleading or not.
- milkmit, on 10/21/2009, -2/+9Infailgraphic is a failure.
- HeavyWave, on 10/21/2009, -1/+8It makes it look like everyone in Russia is a Muslim, what the hell?
- holygram, on 10/21/2009, -4/+11So does this really even tell us anything about anything?
